chapter thirteen,
caught in a fire

Winnie, Q and Kitty had been practicing for the upcoming exams, and they were killing it. Especially Kitty who had to take the exams the most seriously because she surprisingly failing.

Back in Portland, Winnie and Kitty had really good grades. They in top classes and maintained high grades.

But ever since moving to K.I.S.S, they've been slipping. As the three continued to study with flash cards, they couldn't help but get distracted with Kitty's demeanour.

    "Okay," Q puts the cards down on the table. "What's wrong?"

    Winnie sits on the arm rest of Kitty's chair as Q sits opposite of them. "Oh, nothing. No, I'm happy with Dae cause I wanted to be with him for so long, and now I am."

    "So no more dreams about—"

    "Shush." Kitty silenced Q. She hadn't actually told Winnie about her own sex dream about Yuri. Even though Kitty and Winnie were the closest friends in the world, they began to slip away.

    "Dreams about who?" Winnie interrupted.

    Kitty shut her eyes in frustration at Q, now making the whole situation even more messier than before. "No one."

    Winnie raised an eyebrow, "Kitty?"

    Kitty slowly opened her eyes, realizing she was already caught and needed to give up. "Yuri."

    Winnie gasped at the name. "Yuri? But– but you hate Yuri. No, you despise Yuri."

    Kitty shot Winnie a look, "You despise Min Ho and yet you still had a sex dream about him."

    "Kitty!" Winnie shrieks as Q covers his mouth in shock.

    "That actually isn't surprising." Q admitted while removing his hands from his face.

    As the three of them argued with one another — mainly Winnie and Kitty going back and forth — someone knocked at the door.

    Kitty and Winnie walked behind Q, remembering that they weren't supposed to be living in the male dormitories.

    "Coming!" Q answered as the three walked to the door.

    Winnie and Kitty stood behind a wall, peaking a little while Q opened the door. As the door opened, no one was standing there.

    They thought it must've been a prank til Yuri jumped out. "Yuri." Q said with relief.

    "Yuri, what's up?" Kitty's voice went a little high pitched.

    "I just came out to my mom." Yuri says softly. The trio looks around  at each other with confusion, even though it simple.

    "I'm gay." Yuri clarified.

    "Oh, my god. Welcome!" Q congrats Yuri.

    "Oh! I feel amazing." Yuri sighed a loud with joy. "Scared, but free. And I'm moving in with you guys." she dropped out of no where entering the dorm with her suitcase.

The next morning, they were back at it again with the flash cards. Kitty and Dae on the sofa as well as Yuri and Winnie on the floor – Yuri lying down on her back, her left resting on the sofa and Winnie sitting crossed legged next to her.

"Timeline of the later Three Kingdoms." Yuri reads out from the palm card.

"890 to 936." Kitty unsurely answers.

"The first political state?" Dae asked next to Winnie.

"Gojoseon." she answered as well, this time more confidence in her tone.

As they went back and forth pronouncing Gojoseon, Min Ho stood above Yuri. "What is happening?"

"I moved in." Yuri smiled at the boy and sat up.

"What? Why? Are you a throuple now?" Min Ho asked the three.

Kitty giggled as she turned to Dae, who expression was less happier by the question. "No." Kitty muttered as she turns away from him.

"I'm gay." Yuri added, Min Ho nods with surprise. "I came out to my mom. I moved out of the penthouse. Scared. Excited."

"Wait, you've been gay this whole time?" he asked with suspicion.

"It's not a choice." Winnie added, giving him a look.

"I know." he abruptly changed his tone as he glanced over at Winnie then back to Yuri, "So you and Dae.. you were in a fake relationship?"

The three nod and Kitty nodded with the biggest grin. "Kitty was right?" Min Ho said as if that was news.

"I told you I know matchmaking." she smirked.

"And you're not mad at Dae?" Min Ho asked, raising his eyebrows.

Winnie stood up from the floor. "Not everyone will hold grudges like you. Told you to move onto the grandma." she chuckled as she patted his shoulder before walking away.

"I'm not getting with Ocean's grandma!"

    "I love the smell of finals in the morning." Q smiled as he shut his laptop closed.

    "That's most likely because you're a stat athlete and you know you're gonna pass all your classes." Winnie adds making Florian laugh with her.

    Min Ho and Dae walk past their table without acknowledging them. "Hey, guys. Sit with us." Q stops them.

    They slowly turns around and sit down with the three. "Hey, guys." Florian greets them, putting down his coffee on the table.

    "Hello." Dae smiles softly.

    "So, Florian, how's studying going? Did you stay in all night? Nose in the books?" Min Ho asks as soon as he sits down.

    "Yeah, all night." Florian dryly responded as he flipped a page from his book that sat in his lap.

    "Intresting." Min Ho and Dae scoff together.

    "What's so interesting about studying?" Winnie asked as she stirred the straw around in her matcha tea.

    "Oh, funny you ask, Elowyn." Min Ho cleared his throat, "We need a break, so we went for a coffee run."

    The three stare at the two from across the table. "And?" she asked, confused on how this would have anything to with Florian's studying.

    "Well, better get back to it." Florian excuses himself by standing up and packing about his belongings. "See you later."

"Bye." Dae shouts at the boy as he leaves.

Q eyes Min Ho and Dae, "What is going on with you guys? Why are you acting so weird?"

Min Ho glanced at Dae with a sigh. He takes out his phone from a pocket in his uniform and pulls up a picture of Florian with another guy.

"Oh." Winnie sighed as she looked at the photo.

"We didn't know how to tell you. Sorry." Min Ho apologized, Q's face falls as he leans back in his chair.

    Winnie was extremely lucky that she wasn't failing any of her classes. But, that was the opposite for Kitty.

    Kitty was given the chance to save herself by joining the end-of-year talent show and having to perform a traditional Korean art form with dignity.

Yuri and Kitty had been practicing all week along with Madison and her friends. And tonight was the night.

Winnie and Min Ho entered the building, "I can't believe Florian did that to Q." She brought up the situation.

They find their seats, Min Ho speaks up about Florian. "Always had a bad feeling about that boy."

"Oh?" Winnie laughed a little.

The performances started soon, after the first three performances it was now Kitty and Yuri's time to shine.

Winnie leaned forward in her seat, watching as Kitty and the four other girls stepped onto the stage. As the traditional Korean music played, Kitty and Yuri along with the other girls danced across the stage to all sides.

    As they danced to the music, Kitty somehow managed to trip over the fireworks box which made them go off.

    "Oh my god." Winnie gasped as she stood up.

    Kitty's skirt had caught on fire and she began to panic. Luckily, Dae was able to run up to the stage in time and kill the fire.

    Winnie's heart almost stopped as she watched the scene unfold, but she felt a wave of relief wash over her as Dae put out the flames.

    She turned to look at Min Ho and found him shaking his head in disbelief at the chaos they had just witnessed. "Always causing scene." He muttered.

    "Min Ho!"
