Dean Gillman was many things but a superhero. Call him selfish for having such a life many wanted and he never took it into his hands, did anything with it. but he never once felt like he deserved it. From day one he was given the titled and was expected to fake his persona to everyone and everything.

Because being a superhero in this day and age was more about reputation than it was about lifting people's spirits up, saving people. Even though he's apart of the seven, rarely did he attend events or even promotions to his own movies.

Maybe being the brother the homelander had its perks. For one, Homelander cared for him in his own way. Yes it was rough and difficult, but Dean learned how to deal with it. Even if it means he was meant to take a beating. But the upside, was, homelander was more forgiving on Dean. He didn't have to attend movies premieres, interviews, or such things the public so much wanted him to do.

Maybe it was the genuine care Dean showed to people and his saves that never showed up on television that most people fawned over him more than Homelander. He never took scripted situations Vought gave him, he went out and sought his own. Even if it was from helping people with their groceries or stopping potentially deadly car crashes with his powers. This balanced out his rare sightings in promotions.

Or just maybe he resembled soldier boy in many ways...

Though Dean was grateful to help people but not his powers that were thrown to him without his choice. He was told to train, everyday. Before he joined. He never once took his own health into consideration, because he was always putting everyone else's first.

And everyday it was like that.

Every. Single. Day.

He'd grown tired and did things he wasn't fond of and yet despite his attempts he always came back. He cursed his regeneration powers.

He was lonely, far too lonely in this bustling world. He would always skip meals and only eat once per day. Everything was fake around him and he couldn't take it. But he had to put on a smile to everyone.

Until he ran into Hughie. Hughie Campbell, a freind he quickly found on a whim. An unfortunate situation brought them together and their adventures begins there.
