Stephanie's POV

Two sleeping babies in their cribs and my beautiful wife laying in my arms. Everything is quiet around us and I've been enjoying every minute of it but I know it will come to an end soon.

The kids need to wake up otherwise we'll have another difficult night on our hands.

I slowly run my fingers through Alex's hair and she softly groans into my neck.

We've been watching a movie and she promised she wouldn't sleep but it didn't last very long. I felt her slow and steady breathing against me and I didn't have to heart to wake her up.

I know she is tired because she couldn't have slept more than three hours this morning.

Just as I bend down to kiss her head we both get a message notification.

"If that's Maya saying she's running late, I'm burning down that fucking restaurant"

"Woah baby" I laugh in shock as I reach over the couch to get my phone. "Why so violent?"

She only chuckles because she isn't really serious. I know she just wants Maya to come home and she's getting frustrated that it's taking so long.

She said she would be here an hour ago but she got caught up again.

I open up the message and read it out loud.

Maya🤍 : I'm sorry lovies. I'm stuck in traffic, apparently there is a pipe burst down the road. I'll see you a little later. I love you.

"For fucks sake!" She slightly yells and turns her face into my chest.

"It's okay sweetheart, she'll be here soon" I whisper and kiss the top of her head.

"I just want to have my whole family together." She whines and holds me tight around my neck.

"I know baby" I say in a soothing voice and rub her back. "I want that too"

I feel her take a deep breath and her hand reaches into my hair, softly massaging the back of my head.

"Let's go get the kids and play outside." I whisper and kiss her head.

"Okay" she smiles up at me and I lean down to kiss her.

I feel her smiling against my lips with a soft moan. I go in for a second kiss which automatically gets a little deeper.

With her lips still against mine she changes her position to straddle my lap. She cups my face and gently slides her tongue into my mouth.

I hold my hands on her ass and push her hips up against me. She lets out a soft moan and I feel my stomach twist which makes me kiss her harder.

I feel her hands move down to my stomach and just as her hands sneaks into my shirt a soft cry comes through the baby monitor.

With her lips against mine we both take a deep breath and pull back.

"So we are never having sex on this couch again?" She chuckles and gets off my lap.

"Not never" I smile and stand up with her. "Maybe when they are older and out on a play date." I whisper and wrap my arms around her waist.

"Can that be tomorrow?" She groans and rests her head back against my shoulder as we walk to the stairs.

"You say that now but we both know the moment we see their faces, we will change our minds."

"I know" she smiles and I give her cheek a few kisses before we go up the stairs.

I was ready to walk behind her but she laces her fingers with mine and I gladly keep close to her.

We get to their room and as we open the door a little wider, they are both already standing up in their cribs.

"Who's ready to play outside?" I ask in an excited tone and reach out to Jonah who has his arms out to me.

We take the twins outside to a play on the grass a bit. They absolutely love being outside and just like everytime they just wanted to get into the pool.

Alex and I contemplated about it but there was a cold breeze outside and we didn't want them to get sick. We will let them swim a bit tomorrow.

But after about an hour outside, that cold breeze made me shiver. Even with Alex's arms around me, I still got a little cold.

So after giving them a little snack and playing in the living room for a bit we came upstairs for bath time.

"Baby can you please bring another bottle of shampoo with you?" I yell back to Alex who is inside the room busy getting their diapers and clothes ready.

Riley and Jonah are having the time of their life in the bath right now. They absolutely love bath time, they are definitely at their friendliest when they are in the water.

"Mommy look" Jonah laughs and he hits the water with his plastic car.

"Yeah splash, splash and now the whole floor is wet" I sigh with a slight chuckle.

"Oh hi honey" I hear Alex talk in the bedroom.

I look up and a few seconds later Maya comes through the door with a big smile. "Hello my beautiful babies."

The twins erupt in absolute joy and move to the edge of the bathtub as she comes closer. She gives them both a few kisses before she turns to me.

"Hi sweetheart" she whispers and rests her hands on my knees as she gives me a kiss.

I cup her face in my hands and the second kiss is much longer than the first.

"I'm sorry I'm late" she sighs and sits down on the edge of the bathtub as well. "The traffic was horrible today."

"It's okay babe" Alex says in a gentle tone as she walks over to us with her hand rubbing over Maya's back.

"But is everything okay at the restaurant?" I ask in concern because she looks frustrated and tired.

"Yeah, just a bunch of things happening all at once." She sighs and unties her hair from the hairband.

"I'm sorry sweetheart" I sigh and reach out to hold her hand. "At least you are home now, we can just relax." I smile.

"Can I go get dinner ready? Are you okay here?" She asks just as Alex kneels down next to the bathtub, ready to start bathing the kids.

"Yes we're okay" I smile and bring her hand to my lips for a kiss "Thank you baby"

"Cuddles on the couch tonight?" She asks with a cheap smile.

"I already convinced her" Alex laughs and looks up at us.

"Yes, but I don't mind if you try to convince me as well." I smirk and pull her closer between my legs.

"No baby, not in front of the kids" she laughs and pulls away from me.

"I meant asking me very nicely" I roll my eyes. "What did you think?"

"How did she convince you?" Maya chuckles with a knowing look but her arm stays around my shoulders.

"I certainly didn't use any words in my attempt." Alex laughs and I smile when I think back to this afternoon.

Alex caught me by surprise with a sudden passionate kiss. We were busy making some lunch and she came closer for what I thought was a quick kiss.

She was trying to convince me to have the twins fall asleep on the couch with us tonight.

I don't mind them laying with us, I love it just as much but sometimes it's really hard to get them back to sleep when we take them upstairs.

However, that quick kiss made me gasp as her tongue slipped into my mouth. I obviously didn't reject her kiss because her tongue dominanting mine, made me submit to her control.

After those passionate few minutes with her lips on mine and her hands touching places that make me weak, the answer was very simple.

I believe I have the upper hand now. Everytime they ask me something I'll just say no.

I definitely wouldn't mind them convincing me that way all the time.

After their bath and putting on some warm pajamas, we walk down the stairs. Riley always walks so fast down the stairs and my heart can't handle it. I pray that she doesn't fall one day because she can get seriously hurt.

"Oh baby the food smells amazing." Alex chimes as we walk into the kitchen.

"Yeah, what is that?" I nod along in agreement.

"So I'm trying out this new curry recipe."

I immediately look at Alex and her eyes go wide.

"No wait" Maya objects with a slight chuckle. "I changed it up a bit."

I still look at Alex and she doesn't look convinced yet. She doesn't eat curry and I don't blame her. She had a really bad experience with a curry dish.

Not only was she sick for almost three days but she had this specific curry dish on our second date.

It wasn't really the romantic night we had in mind but we got through it with her.

"Baby, if I throw up again, you will sit with me the whole night." She says in serious tone but with a slight smile on her face.

"You are not going to throw up again I promise." Maya smiles. "That chef was a fucking idiot"

"Maya!"

"Sorry" she whispers and looks down at the kids. "Sorry bubbas, I said fumming idiot."

"Don't teach them words that don't exist." I laugh and sit down on the couch.

"Sorry, I didn't know how to save that one." She laughs and continues with dinner.

I watch Riley find interest in my computer bag that is placed next to the kitchen counter. Jonah however is right next to me, wanting to get up on the couch as well.

I pick him up and he stands up on the couch, looking through the window behind me.

Alex is right next to Maya by the counter and she glances inside the pot with a slightly disgusted look. She is trying to be subtle about it but I can see she's not very excited about dinner tonight.

"Baby you are not going to get sick again. It's not the curry that made you sick, something was definitely off in that dish."

"Thank you" Maya sighs and looks at Alex who still looks at the contents in the pot.

"Alex" Maya laughs and slightly pushes her away. "You are overthinking it. Here, just taste it."

She takes a spoon and holds a small bite out to her. Alex glances at me for help but I motion for her to take the bite.

She takes the spoon in her mouth and we both wait in anticipation for her reaction.

"Nope!" She hurls while covering her mouth and turns around, ready to run.

"Oh shit-"

"I'm joking" she turns back around, laughing.

I was halfway off the couch, ready to run after her but I stand up straight with a breath of relief.

"Asshole!" Maya yells in laughter, hitting her shoulder.

"Baby stop cursing" Alex gasps in a playful manner and tries to hug her.

"No, they should know you are an asshole." She laughs and pushes Alex away. "I could've said something else."

"Like what?" Alex laughs and finally gets a hold of her in a tight hug.

"I don't know" Maya chuckles as Alex plants a few kisses all over her face.

"The curry is delicious sweetheart" Alex smiles and gives her a loving kiss.

I smile at their interaction and slowly lay down on the couch. Jonah sees the opportunity to climb on top of me and even though I didn't mean for it to be playtime, I let him do it anyway.

"What are you doing?" I smile up at him as he crawls over the side of my body.

Behind his pacifier he gives me a cute little laugh and comes laying down on my shoulder.

"Mommy" he squeals and reaches out to my face.

I slightly lift my head and softly bite his fingers. He giggles but doesn't take his hand away.

I pull him down on the couch and cuddle him into my chest. I kiss his head a few times but he squirms in my hold because he doesn't like to be constraint.

With one more squeeze I let him go and he slides off the couch. He stands in front of me and he starts playing with my wedding ring on my finger.

"Sorry buddy I'm taken"

"Do you want some wine Steph?" I hear Alex call on me and I look up to her.

"Yes baby, please" I groan a little desperately and sit up on the couch.

"Well the food is also ready, we can go eat" Maya announces as she takes out some plates from the cupboard.

"I'll go set up the twins in the playpen." I offer and stand up. "Come little noodles" I look down at both of them and they giggle.

"Mama Steph is a clown huh?" Maya comes around the counter with the plates and we both walk out into the dining area.

While Alex and Maya set the table and got the food ready, I quickly take out the toybox for the twins and put them in the playpen. I put one of their favourite shows on the tv and within one minute all their focus are on the building blocks in front of them.

"Thank you for dinner babe"

"Yeah it looks fantastic" Alex seconds my comment as we all sit down at the table.

"I don't believe you." Maya laughs.

"I'm serious" Alex chuckles. "It looks really good."

"Hmmm" Maya teases her with a playful eye roll.

"Oh whatever" Alex waves her off and takes a sip of her wine.

We all help ourselves to the food and just as we start to eat Maya breaks the silence with something that happened at work.

We brought Alex up to speed about everything that happened over the last two days and also what is on our schedule for the week ahead.

It's always nice to have both of them at the dinner table. This is the time of day where we talk about our days and give our full attention to one another.

Every since we started dating we had a rule where phones weren't allowed at dinner. It has since become a normality in our house and we will continue with it as the twins get older.

They have to understand that this will be our family time.

And just like dinner at the dining room table every night, we will have movie nights every Friday.

Right at the end of our dinner the twins got bored in the playpen. We quickly cleared the table to give them all our attention.

But the movie is paused as we wait for Alex who quickly went to the bathroom.

Riley and Jonah decided climbing over my chest and face would be a fun activity to pass the time.

They just want to get to Maya who is right behind me, and even though they can reach her just by standing on the couch, this way seems to bring them more joy.

"Ow my boob" I groan and sit a bit forward, catching Riley in my lap.

She just giggles and I can't help but smile at her adorable little smile. "You think that's funny huh?" I say and tickle her.

She wiggles out of my lap and I sit back between Maya's legs again.

"Are you okay?" Maya laughs and her hand reaches around my waist to cup my breast.

"Yeah I'm okay" I smile back at her.

She has Jonah trapped on the couch with her other hand and he is trying very hard to get free but Maya is not letting up.

She likes to torture them like this sometimes.

"Why is she taking so long?" I slightly groan and rest my head back against her shoulder.

"I don't know sweetheart"

"Riley, Jonah" I call on them and they both look at me. "Where is mommy Alex?"

Riley is the first to answer and point to the staircase. "Up"

"Go call mommy" Maya urges them both on but it takes them a little longer to understand what she means.

"Go call mommy Alex" she says again and also points to the stairs.

"I'm here, I'm here" Alex almost comes running into the living room.

She sits down next to Maya and twins immediately climb up on us.

Riley is on Alex's lap and Jonah is halfway sitting on Maya's leg but I hold him steady with my arm that reaches over to Alex.

"What are we watching?" She asks just as I play the movie.

"I don't even know, it's something with robots." Maya chuckles behind me.

"Okay" she nods and makes herself comfortable. "I'm calling seventeen minutes."

"Ten minutes" Maya comments as well.

"I'll go with thirty minutes." I chuckle and cuddle Jonah a little closer to me.

We always guess how long it will take for the twins to fall asleep during a movie. Maya had it spot on three times now while Alex and I haven't been right once.

"Winner gets to sleep in the middle tonight" I smirk and glance back at them.

"Game on"

Twenty one minutes later and the winner was decided in a rock, paper, scissors match.

I still believe Maya is the luckiest person alive. She defeated us without even really trying.

She didn't even want to play because she doesn't really care who the winner is. Alex and I were too competitive to let this go. There had to be a winner.

And Maya won again.

We also didn't finish the movie because halfway through we were all starting to fall asleep. It's been a rough week for all of us, so we decided to call it a night.

We took the twins up to bed, they were a little unhappy about the relocation but it was expected. They were all cuddled up under their blankets and I'm sure our body heat and constant affection were the top reasons for their comfort.

After a few minutes of cradling them both, they luckily went back to sleep.

Maya is sitting against the headboard behind me, softly tickling my back with her nails.

"Lovies" Alex calls for our attention as she switches off the bathroom light.

I look up to Alex as I finish putting lotion on my hands and feel Maya move to sit up straight.

"I don't think I want to work for the hospital anymore." She sighs and sits down at the foot of the bed.

"Why? Did something happen?" Maya is the first to ask.

"No, nothing happened, I just-" she pauses and takes a deep breath. "I don't know. It just sometimes feels like they're taking advantage of me."

"What do you mean?" Maya asks and we both look at her in in confusion but also concern.

"They called me in for my patient the other night, which I don't mind. But as soon as I step into the hospital they page me for every orthopedic case, like I'm the only surgeon there. I'm so tired after my shifts because I don't get a fucking second to breathe."

"I'm sorry babe" I sigh at the sight of her emotional state.

"It's fine" she looks up at me. "Sorry I didn't mean to bring the mood down. I'm just really tired." She chuckles to play it off but I don't buy it.

"You don't have to apologize honey" Maya says and sits up next to me. "But is there something you can do? Or maybe talk to someone about it?"

"Yeah?" I question. "Can't you go to the board?"

"I can but I don't have the strength to deal with all of that now. They are all just a bunch of money hungry people. They don't actually care about their staff." She shrugs.

"But it's okay" she changes her tone. "I'm happy to be home and I can't wait to sleep in our bed tonight." She smiles at both of us.

"Oh man, I'm so relieved" Maya groans and I laugh at her reaction.

"Yeah me too" I second her comment. "Maybe you'll feel better after the weekend. We all just need some time to recover after this hectic week."

"Yeah maybe just think about it for a while, and you know we'll support you in whatever you decide." Maya smiles. "But just so you know, I really wouldn't mind you being my personal waitress at the restaurant." She smirks.

"Or my assistant." I add and flick my tongue at her.

"No" she laughs. "I won't quit my job, you know I love what I do" she smiles.

"And I get to see a lot of sexy blonde nurses everyday." She says with a playful smirk and looks at Maya.

"To soon sweetheart" she glares at Alex and we laugh at her reaction.

"I'm joking" Alex stands up and crawls over to Maya.

"No" Maya laughs and tries to push her away but Alex just lays down on top of her. "You're an asshole" she groans but holds her in a tight hug.

"You are the only blonde woman I love." Alex whispers and forces a kiss on her lips

"You better"
