I feel Jonah tapping my leg and I stop whipping the cream and look down at the little Lego structure he built.

"That's amazing bud" I praise him on his work and continue with my own task. Stephanie wants a vanilla cake with strawberry cheesecake flavored icing. The cake is already out of the oven, busy cooling down, and decorating the cake won't take so long. 

Alex is on the couch, relaxing like we promised she could while Stephanie and I are busy getting everything ready for tomorrow.

"We can go sometime in the week babe? Or do you want to go over the weekend?"

I look up at Alex where Riley sits in her lap, busy flipping through a magazine that has been entertaining her for the last half an hour.

After my conversation with Jamie, I've talked to Alex and Stephanie about it. They both agreed that we should do more date nights.

I'll be honest, I was actually really concerned about us falling into the same cycle Jamie did. I really didn't want our relationship to come to that.

"We can do it before your day off and then maybe Steph can arrange her schedule as well." I suggest. "But if it can't work, then we can maybe do it over the weekend."

"I think I have Thursday off" she says but her expression shows how she thinks about it first. "But we don't have go according to my schedule. We can go any night of the week."

Stephanie comes walking into the kitchen and goes straight to the garage with some plastic bags in her hand.

"Okay, then I think we should do it Wednesday. I'll make us some reservations."

"I'll put it in Abby's schedule for the week." Stephanie says and walks over to the couch with the twins. "But first I need to finish up outside."

"Do you need some help?" Alex asks her but my concentration is back on the cake in front of me.

"No, I'm okay. You can just sit here, my queen."

"I know" I smile with guilt. "But she's nervous about tomorrow."

"Everything will be fine, I promise." She smiles and leans closer to kiss me. "Tomorrow is not about me or her."

"I know but I also know how you feel about everything and I can imagine it's not easy."

"I think we should talk about buying a lake house."

"Yes, we can do that" Stephanie smiles. "But back to my original point, if we eventually buy one. I was actually thinking we can go there every year for the 4th of July but maybe like go at the end of June and stay one or two weeks" Stephanie smiles.

Alex and I laugh because Stephanie's first, very subtle suggestion is to go to the lake house for Labor day weekend, which is one week after her birthday.

"I see what you did there" Alex and I laugh. "But it's a great idea, honey"

"I don't think there is a house big enough to accommodate our whole family" I laugh. "The kids will eventually need their own separate rooms."

"And my parents won't mind staying in a motel or something"
