Chapter 14

Alex's POV

I do my last greetings at the door and somehow I'm always the one they wait for. I hear the car start and that is Stephanie's last warning.

"Okay bye!" I laugh and turn around running carefully through the rain before they leave without me.

I open up the back door and quickly get in but I see Maya already in the back. "Oh, I thought you were in front." I smile and close the door.

"No baby, I thought you were going in the front." She laughs.

"Well someone needs to get in the front seat because I'm not an Uber driver."

"But it's raining" Maya says with a slight pout and we both look at Stephanie.

"This is why we bought these big cars" she laughs. "One of you can climb over because I am not leaving this driveway until someone sits up front with me."

Maya and I just laugh at her annoyance but we also know she is serious. I don't blame her because I also don't like sitting alone in the front when I'm driving.

"You go honey" I smile and gently rub her thigh.

She leans closer to give me a soft but lingering kiss before she climbs over the console box. The journey to the seat does come with challenges though. Stephanie keeps squeezing her butt and every time she jerks a bit with a squeal.

"Baby, stop!" She laughs and grabs Stephanie's hands untill she finally takes her seat. "Ow, I hit my head!" She groans and slaps Stephanie's arm.

"I'm sorry" Stephanie laughs and leans over for a kiss but Maya denies her with a playful glare.

"I bet you wish you were an Uber driver now" I laugh. "Now you won't even get the tip."

Maya burst out laughing and Stephanie looks back at me with a shocked expression but then she laughs and looks forward again. "I will tip myself then" she mumbles which makes us laugh a little harder.

She finally pulls out the driveway and I'm sure Maya's parents were curious as to why we were standing in their driveway for so long.

"Can we ask what you and your dad talked about after dinner?"

"Of course lovies" she glances back at me and also Stephanie. "I was going to tell you, sorry." She smiles. "He knows about the baby"

"Oh really?" Stephanie asks in surprise and I sit up closer.

"What did he say?"

"I don't know if he knows about the planned abortion but he is going to talk to her. I just don't know when." She sighs.

"Do you think he will change her mind?" I ask. "You know, if she tells him."

"I don't think anyone can change her mind at this point. She wants to fix their marriage and another man's baby in the mix will just complicate things even more."

"Are they really gonna try to fix things?" Stephanie asks and I also wait for an answer with a curious frown.

"Apparently Lukey boy fucked around too" she laughs but it's her scary laugh. "So they are both guilty."

"Oh gosh" I sigh and sit back in the seat. "This is too much drama for me."

"For me too" Maya answers with the same tone.

"You should spend some time with me at the office." Stephanie laughs. "I have an incest case."

"What!" Maya and I both sit up in shock.

"Like, in one of the companies?" Maya asks and we both wait for Stephanie to answer.

"Yes, but I can't say anything more than that" she states in a soft chuckle but she obviously knows we will definitely ask questions so I go first.

"Is it the mother and the son? Or the daughter and the father?"

"No questions"

"Maybe the father and the son?" Maya asks and looks back at me.

"Or the grandfather" I say with wide eyes as my mind thinks about all the possibilities.

"Yes" Maya agrees with my theory. "The grandson has some daddy issues so he goes to his grandfather for-"

"No, please stop!" Stephanie cuts her off.

"Baby, you can't tell us about your case and not expect us to have our own theories." Maya defends us but the look on Stephanie's face still holds a bit of disgust.

"Okay but can you then theorize when I'm not in the room? I don't want to hear that."

"I think we can help you" I smile and reach out to touch her shoulder.

"Thank you baby" she laughs and grabs my hand. "But I'm already freaked out about it at work, I don't want to think about it at home."

"Okay fair enough"

"We'll come to your office on Monday"

"Oh gosh" Stephanie sighs.

"I can't go Monday babe, I have a surgery. Can we go Tuesday?" I ask Maya and she turns back to look at me as she thinks for a second.

"I can do Tuesday" she finally says and looks over to Stephanie with a big smile. "We're coming to visit you on Tuesday my love."

Stephanie doesn't say anything and just shakes her head as she keeps driving.

"Let's go get a drink somewhere"

I look up at Maya's sudden statement and a few seconds go buy before Stephanie says something first.

"A drink? Now?"

I sit up in the middle and wait for Maya to answer with the same confusion on my face as Stephanie.

"Why not?" She laughs. "We won't be out till four in the morning."

"I don't think we should go get a drink now, baby." Stephanie chuckles and I can see she is still a little confused. "We already had a lot of wine."

"What about pancakes?" She smiles and looks at both of us because she knows we can't resist a pancake date.

"Oohh yes" I agree with excitement. "I can go for pancakes."

"Are you serious?" Stephanie laughs. "We just came from dinner? And we had dessert."

"Please baby" Maya pouts and leans over to Stephanie's side.

"I'll pay" I offer and we all laugh at my attempt to convince her because we have a shared account.

"Fine" she smiles.

Maya and I both cheer but we know Stephanie wouldn't have said no. We have a rule about pancake dates.

We can't say no.

Our first ever date was a pancake date and we also don't eat pancakes unless all of us are present. We get a lot of questions about it but it's just our special tradition.

After finding the closest diner we pull up in the parking lot. We all jump out and quickly make our way inside.

They're not really busy and the waiter shows us to a window booth. Maya and I take a seat while Stephanie excuses herself to go to the bathroom.

We order some coffee and as the waiter leaves the table, I take some time to look around. It's a small diner but it looks neat and professional. There is a couple way on the other side in the corner and a family of four a few tables away who definitely had the same idea as us. The kids are enjoying some ice-cream while the parents share a slice of pie.

I can't wait to share moments like that with the twins.

I see Maya looking at the menu again but I can see she's more serious about it this time. She is definitely not impressed with the food they serve here.

This is why we don't go out to eat all that much.

She slightly frowns at something and I can't help but laugh. "Baby, stop it"

"But this-"

"No" I cut her off. "Give it to me" I say and reach for her menu.

"Fine" she groans and rests her elbows on the table. "I'll stop"

"Thank you" I smile and this time I reach for her hand. "You can rather look at me."

"Yes, that is much better." She smiles and brings my hand up to her lips for a kiss.

Stephanie comes back from the bathroom and slides in next to Maya. "Honey, can I have some of your hand lotion please? Mine is finished."

Maya puts my hand down and reaches for her handbag. She gives the lotion to Stephanie and with that the waiter comes back with our coffees.

"Can I get you anything else?"

"Just plain ones?" I ask my wives and they both nod. "Can we please have normal pancakes with cream and syrup? And three plates, we are going to share."

"Okay, coming right up" she smiles and takes the menus away.

"Baby, have you decided what cake you want for your birthday?" Maya asks Stephanie who immediately gets excited with the question.

"I have narrowed it down to three" she answers. "So I was thinking we can work something out-"

"I can't bake three cakes baby" Maya laughs. "Who is going to eat it?"

"No wait" Stephanie quickly objects. "I was thinking you can make one for the Saturday when the family is there and then one for the office. And then a really small one, as one of my presents."

"Can't you just buy a boring cake for the office?" I suggest.

"Yes, they won't appreciate my work anyway." Maya agrees.

"I will make them appreciate every bite."

"Tell me what the flavors are" she smiles.

"I don't know the flavors but I saved some pictures." She smiles and gets her phone out. "Oh shit my phone is dead. Okay I'll show when we get home."

"Okay-"

I sit back and just smile as I listen to the their conversation. I'm not necessarily focused on what they're saying but I just love spending time with them.

It's been a few busy weeks and after tonight, this pancake date is definitely good for us. We just need to sit back and forget about all the family dramas.

I remember our first pancake date and from that day, it's my absolute favorite tradition.

That is the day I realized that I wanted more. It wasn't just a one time thing for me.

They were it.

"Alex!"

I shake away my thoughts and adjust my eyesight to see both of my wives looking at me.

"Sorry, yes?"

"Are you okay?" Stephanie chuckles.

"You kinda spaced out for a bit." Maya smiles.

"Sorry I was just thinking back to our first date" I smile. "And how many pancake dates we've had over the years."

"Yes, there were a lot" Maya laughs.

"So is the first one your favorite?" Stephanie asks me.

"All of them are my favorite but the first one is obviously a little more special because that's where it all began."

"No, it began with 18 tequila shots" Maya laughs.

"Then amazing sex" Stephanie continues.

"And then we went for pancakes."

"Okay that's true but the date meant something different to me."

"What did it mean to you?" Stephanie sits forward with a knowing smile.

"Yes, tell us my darling" Maya follows with the same smile and I just roll my eyes because they are teasing now.

"You know what it meant to me"

"We would love to hear it again." Maya smiles.

"No, you are making fun of me now" I laugh and look away to see the waiter bringing over our order. "I'm going to find someone else to have pancakes dates with."

"No, no" Maya raises her finger at me. "You know the rules."

I only laugh and shake my head in amusement as the waiter places the plate down on our table. We thank her and she gives us a polite smile before walking away.

"Okay let's go back to our first date"

"No!" I laugh at Stephanie's suggestion and take a bite from my pancake.

"I remember it being really hot that day"

"I remember-"

Flashback.

I lock my car and start walking towards the Cafe. I'm a little early but I was honestly too excited to wait any longer. The hostess shows me to a table but it wasn't long until I saw the beautiful brunette getting out of a taxi in the street. She is wearing a black pants suit with high heels and her hair is hanging loose in long curls. I sit back in my chair and take my time to admire her walking to the entrance.

I think back to the weekend and the thought of that makes me bite my lip. I remember her dominant kisses that made me moan uncontrollably but I also remember the way her back arched off the mattress as Maya and I had some fun with her

"Hey"

I look up as a hand softly touches my shoulder and I see Stephanie with her beautiful smile looking down at me.

"Hi, sorry" I laugh and stand up to give her a quick hug.

"Are you okay?" she chuckles and her hand lingers a bit on my lower back.

"Yeah, I was just lost in thought for a second" I blush a bit because the exact thought is not something I would say out loud.

"Now I'm curious" she laughs and moves over to her chair.

"Is this how you always dress for work?" I ask her in the most casual tone I can manage as we take a seat.

"Yes" she smiles. "But I was in court the morning and this is my lucky suit"

"Well, you look really-"

"Shit am I late?"

We both look up and see Maya coming around the table, her sunglasses still on her face.

"No, you are not late" I smile and stand up to give her a hug.

"I literally arrived two minutes before you" Stephanie smiles and they share a hug as well.

"Okay" she breathes in a sense of relief. "You both look really nice, did you work this morning?" she asks as she sit down on her chair, across from me.

"I didn't work, I have the next two days off" I smile and then wait for Stephanie to answer for herself.

"I was in court this morning and then I'm going back to the office when we're done here."

"I'm so glad I don't have to work" she sighs. "And I'm so fucking tired, I had the most crazy day at work yesterday-"

I sit back and just look at her talk about her day. I can see how tired she is but she absolutely loves it. My focus goes to her eyes, she has the most beautiful blue eyes and I can't help but mimic her smile every time she glances at me.

A small chuckle from Stephanie makes my heart skip a beat and even though I'm not really participating in the conversation at the moment, I'm happy.

I have two absolutely gorgeous women sitting with me, we don't know a lot about each other and I thought this might be an awkward situation but it's the complete opposite. I was scared to ask them out for brunch. I was prepared for some excuse that one or both them couldn't make it. I honestly didn't think I will ever see them again.

It was a shot in the dark, a big shot which I normally wouldn't take. I don't really call anyone back after a drunken night, and I definitely haven't done anything like this before.

But it feels good.

I haven't stopped thinking about them for the past few days. The memories of that night keep popping up in my head and it felt like I was going crazy. It was only yesterday that I learnt they both feel the same. I had finally put my big girl pants on and decided to send them a message about coming out for today. Stephanie then made a group for us and I was screaming like a teenager. We didn't talk a lot because we were all busy with work but I fell asleep with the biggest smile on my face.

"I heard this place has the best pancakes" Stephanie says and it makes me sit up and scan through the menu.

"I heard about it too but I've never been here before, I just always drive past on my way to work."

"It can't be the best" Maya shrugs. "Mine is definitely better"

"Wil you make us pancakes sometime?" Stephanie asks in a low voice.

"Yes, I would love to taste your pancakes" I agree.

"Do you now?" she asks with a slight smirk and Stephanie laughs. "We can go back to my apartment and I-"

"No wait" I cut her off. "I didn't mean it like that" I blush and feel the embarrassment wash over me.

"I think you did" Stephanie smiles. "You've been really quiet and I for one would love to hear what's going on in your thoughts."

"You are really quiet" Maya says the same thing. "Are you okay?"

I look over at them and I feel my face heat up in embarrassment. I was wondering when they would say something and now I'm not so shocked that Stephanie the lawyer picked up on it first.

"I have a lot on my mind, that's all" I say in a low voice. "And I'm just quietly enjoying you two talk"

"We would would enjoy it more if you talk as well" Stephanie answers in a gentle voice.

"Yes, you have to talk with us" Maya smiles. "Even if all you can think about is tasting my pancakes."

"Stop it" I laugh and blush again but they just laugh at me.

The waiter comes over and we order some coffee but as he leaves I look up and they are both still staring at me.

"Okay fine" I chuckle in defeat. "I'm just glad we are doing this but I'm a little nervous."

"Do you think this place sells tequila?" Maya says and looks down at the menu but I know she's only teasing me.

"Yes, that will make you less nervous" Stephanie smiles.

"It would help" I laugh. "But I guess being nervous is part of the experience." I shrug and glance around the menu, pretending to read. "Can please just talk about something else?" I laugh. "I won't be quiet I promise."

"Okay, we can talk about my pancakes again." Maya smiles across the table and we all laugh because that is not exactly a change in subject. Talking about pancakes is the reason we even had these awkward few minutes.

"I will definitely make you some breakfast sometime" she smiles. "Oh and dinner" she says excitingly. "We should just do a whole day where I can feed you my delicious recipes."

"I would love that" Stephanie smiles.

"Me too" I answer. "Our own personal chef." I smile and she gives me a quick wink which makes me blush once again.

I think they are purposely trying to make me shy and unfortunately they have figured out its not very hard to do so.

Luckily the waiter brings over our drinks order and then it was time to order our brunch. We decided to each take a different kind of pancake dish and then we will share between the three of us. Everything looks really good and we want to taste them all.

As we drink our coffee we shared a few stories of our workplaces. Stephanie can't really say a lot but her job seems really intense and stressful. Maya loves talking about her work and she even told us some gossip on some of her coworkers. I am a little too invested and now I want to go to the restaurant and meet these people.

"Okay miss surgeon, it's your turn." Stephanie smiles.

"I can't tell you about cutting people open while we eat." I chuckle as I take a bite of my pancake.

"You don't have to be specific" she shrugs. "Just leave out the bloody parts."

"Yes please" Maya asks in a low voice. "I don't do well with other people's blood."

"Okay, well I try not to cut people open. The technology has advanced which means I sometimes only have to make a small incision. There is no need to make a cut of fifteen to twenty stitches anymore unless there isn't any other way."

"What is the longest surgery you've ever done?" Maya asks.

"Uhmmm" I think as I chew. "I think it was twelve hours and I left before they were completely done, so it was probably a little longer than that."

"Twelve hours on one person?"

"Yeah, he was in a really bad car accident." I sigh. "And unfortunately, he passed away a few days later."

"Oh shit" Maya breathes out I look up at them. I can feel the mood has definitely changed and now I feel guilty for it.

"Oh I'm sorry. I didn't mean to bring the mood down." I sigh. "This is why I don't talk about my job." I slightly chuckle.

"You should talk about these things Alex." I glance down when I feel Stephanie's hand on my arm. "It's good to let it out the emotions."

"Yeah, and you didn't bring the mood down." Maya smiles. "We are just not used to hearing that people die everyday."

"But it's definitely not something to talk about on a first date." I smile and take another bite of my pancake.

"So this is a date?"

I feel the blood draining from my face and I look up at them. They are both just smiling but I feel like an idiot now.

We didn't really talk about it being an official date, it was just a casual brunch. It's not exactly normal for three people to go out on a date but I really wanted to see them again.
We are all so busy with work, it was the only time we all could manage.

"Sorry, I mean brunch" I smile hoping it will change the awkward situation.

"I'm happy with it being a date" Maya shrugs and casually takes a bite of from her plate.

"How about you?" I ask Stephanie who is still just smiling.

"I definitely wouldn't mind it being a date." She smiles. "Because I really want to kiss you again" she breathes out. "The both of you." She adds. "But not at the same time, I mean like. Or it can be at the same time. It doesn't really matter. I really liked kissing-"

Maya and I only laugh at her nervous rambling and both reach out to hold her hands. Suddenly my heart feels lighter and my smile is bigger.

I guess I'm not the only nervous one at the table. Maya doesn't show it but I bet she is a little nervous. She has to be. I don't think either of us has been on a date with two women before.

I'm not entirely sure what to expect or what will happen after our date but I really want to find out.
