Chapter 53: There you are!
The eight of you scurried up the stairwell to the third floor, where you passed through a dusty maintenance room, and up another level.
"Why... The roof? Can't we just... Fight her on the ground?" Wade panted, as you finally reached an old blue door.
You noticed Barry jiggling the rusty handle.
"Because it's a lot harder to shoot up, not down. She'll have a harder time hitting us if we have the hight advantage." Molly answered her boyfriend's question.
You watched as Barry pressed against the door. It didn't budge.
You called out to the other inhabitant of the apartment complex.
"Hey, La-"
"Exactly, hun. She's playing offensive, we're playing defensive. She's got a real gun, we have toys and blanks."
"Uh, Lauryn, I think-"
"It's all a game of dodgeball, like in seventh grade. Except if a player on our team gets hit then, ya know, they'll die. But one time my friend Ron Klepper broke Smitty's nose with a foam dodgeball, so I guess that could be considered leath-"
"LAURYN!!" You screamed.
"...al... Yeah?"
"The door is stuck." Bob commented, pointing to the old door.
Lauryn said nothing. Her breathing increased and she ran her fingers through her hair.
"We're trapped.."
"Are- are you okay?" Mark asked the girl, who was now on the verge of tears.
"I'm trapped. We're stuck in here! We'll never get out! I'M TRAPPED!" The female videographer shrieked, running to the door.
She rammed against it with her shoulder and hip, loosening whatever substance had it stuck. She smashed into it again, the door bursting open.
Barry looked at the other editor, who was laying on the ground after bashing the door down.
"Heheh. Well done Lockbreaker." Barry smiled at Lauryn, a hint of sarcasm tinting his words.
You had the feeling this wasn't the first time that something like this had happened.
You and the rest of your group filed out onto the rooftop. You stood next to Mark, a slight breeze moving your hair a little. You took in the view.
The building you were standing on was surprisingly big. Only a little ways away from downtown LA. A large pool was on the ground in front of you, probably meant for the apartment residents.
You turned to look behind you.
The sun was at it's peak, strait above you. It would've been a great day to relax, if you weren't about to battle a Psychotic Sociopath fangirl.
Mark was quiet, but took your hand in his own. You sighed.
"I can't wait for this to be over."
"Same here."
"Theeerrrre you are! I've been looking for you for so looooong!" A squawking voice shattered the moment.
'No. No! No, no, no, no, NO!'
Bristol stood on the ground below you. Blood staining her pants and shirt.
She held a pistol in her left hand, and a knife in her right hand.
"Let's not waste anymore time, okay? After all, my clock is ticking."
'Her clock?'
She slowly stepped a little more towards you and Mark, who were peering down at her.
Wade and Bob bolted down the stairs.
'I gotta stall her.'
"I'm not scared of you, Bristol. Every time you've tried to hurt us, you've failed." You yelled down to her. Mark looked at you like you were crazy.
"HA! Battle isn't just combat. I bet the paranoia has been pretty bad, huh?" The magenta haired girl giggled.
Sean and Barry also headed down the stairs.
"Psychological warfare, my frienemy. Now get down here, Markisweetie."
Mark looked at Lauryn, how jerked her head downward, signaling him to obey.
Mark looked over to you. Leaning in, he whispered in your ear. "(Y/n), if we make it out alive, I promise you that I'll-"
"NOW!" Bristol screamed. She raised her arm and shot strait up for emphasis. A bullet flew strait up in front of you.
Mark turned around, slowly walking away, and headed down the stairs. Barley a minute later, you felt a pair of hands grab your forearm, making you jump.
"C'mon!" Molly hissed, pulling you downstairs. Lauryn followed suit.
"Gogogogo!" Lauryn whisper-screamed.
"Nooo, I just thought I'd take a plesent stroll around the apartment complex..." You shot back.
"Both of you, shut up. Now isn't a great time to fight. We gotta get to Avi's place." Molly snapped, still not letting go of your arm.
Gunshots and other various sounds of battle were echoing outside.
This is it.
Soon it would be all over.
*Smug grin* Cliffhanger again? You better believe it, hun. For once, I actually have another chapter written ahead of time. I'm thinking that this "Final Battle" will take up about three chapters.
I know, that sounds excessive. There's a lot of information (Y/n) is missing. Like: Who is Bristol, and what is her past? Is there a reason for those flares? Will Lauryn ever stop making anime references? (Spoiler alert: No. No I will not.)
I'll see you soon in the next chapter. (Which is actually quite long! I finally didn't slack off!)
Anyway, I'm off to bed. Catch you later, and see ya!
P.S. What would be all over? Battle? Person? Relationship? Any ideas? >:]
