Chapter 6
We passed through this barrier after having an encounter with a man-bull which I quickly killed with a couple well placed secret arrows and a dagger thrust to the heart telling Grover that I needed to go to the bathroom, ambushing it a couple miles away, and running back pretending to be done while Grover talked to a tree, a tree Nymph probably.
"Well" I finally said standing there sassily and he oh'ed before saying by to the tree and walking through the forest and the air ripples as he disappeared behind something. I reluctantly followed and passed through a barrier that felt like glue or slime sticking to my skin as I went through it before going back to it's regular form. I had put the horn piece in my pocket so that he didn't get any idea's and then I asked him what that was and he went into a big explaination about a trio named Luke, Annabeth, and Thalia. They ran from a cyclopes and Thalia gave her life for the other two so that she could keep them and others like them safe by giving her life to the cyclopes and Zeus pitied her and made her into a magic tree which put an invisible barrier around the camp and spared many lives from being lost.
Then he showed me around camp and I was drawn to a lone cabin that looked like it started to gather cobwebs like the other darker one in the corner of camp and a-lot of dust, but before I got the chance to get to it Grover dragged me away from it and towards another bigger cabin house thing that they called the big house and I had to keep in a chuckle, but the smile couldn't be contained. I met Chiron again who was in the cabin taking up most of the space in the living room laying down and playing chess with a wine smelling powerful being.
"Chiron" I yelled and he looked up from the game as I crashed into him having to repress my strength and speed to make me look, feel, and appear human, and to not push him over as I hugged him "your here"
"Of coarse I'm here Percy, oh I have something for you that I forgot to give you before you left the school" he turned to a bag and I noticed that the powerful immortal was waiting impatiently for Chiron to move. I studied the board while Chiron dug into his endless bag and moved for him making Checkmate a couple moves later, and the powerful immortal embarrassed and a little angry. I noticed that Chiron had stopped and was watching with intrest mumbling things like 'interesting', 'good choice', and sometimes not speaking out of shock from things that he probably wouldn't have thought to do.
I turned around to him to leave the immortal fuming and then he gave me a pen which I felt was enchanted as well, and I stepped away from Chiron and pulled the cap making it spring into a three food long celestial bronze sword that was well balanced and always sharp no madder what it was up against. I recapped it and put it in my pocket and felt a binding to that area and I wanted to test something. I took Riptide, as it's name in Greek was, out of my pocket and threw it out of the door and then started to count as soon as it was out of my hand closing the door while I counted.
"What are you--" the powerful immortal protested and I put my finger up silencing him, and I felt his gaze on my hand before he seemed to notice something interesting. I put my hand back in my pocket every ten seconds and after about a half-minute it reappeared in my pocket like my bracelets do when I leave them somewhere accidentally, or leaving them in a victim not able to take them out. Like after stabbing the bull-man, who decided to fall backwards with my blade in it's back and giving me a hard time trying to pull it out for a minute after rolling it on it's side and trying to pull it out, but I gave up and as I ran back to Grover in my wolf form and changed to human it was on my wrist again as my silver blessing.
"Why do you have gloves on" the powerful immortal asked and I repressed the urge to growl at him, but failed a little.
"None of your business immortal" I warned and he backed off smelling of clear fear as he did and I glared at him which made him sort of shrink in fear for a few seconds before standing back up in my face and demanding me, an alpha, to do something.
"Take off your gloves now" he hissed and I smelled the wine that he drank recently "or I shall"
"I. Dare. You" I glared and he motioned to go at me to do it, but I felt a slight twist around one of my fingers and I yanked repulsively making my gloves shoot off into the vine's grip "you sneaky little --" I lept at him mid-sentence giving him no time to recover and I didn't care about the speed that I was going or the strength that I showed as I lifted him up in a second and rushed him into the wall a few feet away into an enchanted wooden pillar making it dent from the force.
"PERCY" a yell echoed through my angry thoughts and I left the scared pants hanging in the dent on the wall which then reset and pushed him off but not before trapping his shirt in a splinter. The voice was Chiron and he looked at me with as much strength as he could muster, but I could see the horse, body part of him tense and ready to run, and he smelled and sounded of fear as much as he tried to hide it. It was even in his eyes, and those cannot lie to anything as powerful and experienced as me. I stood there with my canines long, my nails gleaming and sharp, and my feline features coming through from my dream training with my lions and growing up for many years with them influencing and raising a different part of me even if I was apart of the kind they hated, wolves...dogs.
I went over to the vines holding my gloves and I cut through them easily making the immortal wince even more, and put them on hiding what I was.
"Don't ask the question lingering in all of your minds" I warned still having my back towards them, and I moved through the door.
"How could you hide your scent from us?" Chiron said and I heard an agreeing tone which was Grover. I stopped in the middle of the doorway, and turned my head a little making sure no one else was near or listening to us, and when I was sure that no one was I spoke.
"I don't know how, but I can smell monsters from miles away and I can walk right up to them and kill them, I've done that already, I do not know why or how but I have no scent in either forms, and you better pray that you don't see me in my other forms because something would be dying or already dead" I said and then walked out leaving them in their shock and I went to the lake but I saw a brown-haired girl already there and fighting against a couple men in armor, and the interesting thing was that she didn't have armor, but she had a shield and a decent sword.
I walked up to her as she took down the last person and ripped off my silver bracelet making it into a silver sword of perfect balance and perfect length and sharpness. I flipped a band on the other one and it turned into a shield similar to hers but celestial bronze and monster steel. To say that she was shocked as I came in-front of her was an understatement. She was beyond surprised but she quickly shook out of it and we both got into a fighting stance. Mine more practiced from years of hunting and killing monsters near my city, and me and my mother's lodge. I reminded myself to visit there again, but when I was ready. I attacked first spinning around and bringing my sword down in a wide arc while keeping my shield close to my side.
The girl barely managed to get her shield up, but it cracked and almost split in two from the impact and she looked at it before throwing it away with a huff of disbelief, and I tapped the top of my shield with the side of my sword and switched hands before attacking again. I wasn't going too fast to make it seem inhuman even as she was assessing me with her eyes, and I didn't want to show her all of my tricks just yet. We went back and forth like this for a while and I could tell that she was tiring due to her blade strikes getting slower and sloppier, but I still had a-lot of energy left. I knocked her blade away as she stabbed and then spun around it and grabbed it from her hand as I spun around her and then I put it pointing at her chest with my blade at her neck and she sighed in defeat. I walked around her and gave her her sword again before tapping the hilt of it against my wrist, and seemed to collapse as it shrunk into my silver bracelet.
"Good fight my names Percy" I said holding my hand out, and she took it with a smile
"Mine's Annabeth daughter of Athena" she said and I was a little shocked that I managed to defeat a daughter of the battle and strategy goddess, and it seemed so was she and everyone watching. They were clapping for a while before Chiron came through and told them to get things ready for tonight's bonfire and claiming ceremony.
"What's a claiming ceremony?" I asked Annabeth as we walked to the barracks for her to drop off the shield and put up her blade.
"It's a ceremony where a new camper, you, gets chosen by one of the gods" she said and then we started to walk to where the others were going which seemed to be the very heart of the camp and the bonfire was already lit and it was towering very high. It reminded me of Rhea's eyes and how they burned endlessly with warmth, kindness, and protection.
"Okay campers as you all know by this tradition we have here that a new camper has arrived and she is going to be claimed tonight" Chiron said refusing to look at me or meet my eyes though he smelled like clear fear and freight "please come up Percy and tell everyone who you are" I walked up next to him making his scent of fear stronger and his horse instincts were fighting to run from the high predator.
"My whole name is Persephrone Achilles-Artemis Jackson and as you know I arrived today, but as I traveled here with my friend Grover, my mother had died by an attack of wild dogs" I said holding in my tears "I do not want your pity for a lost girl with no mother and no parentage, but a regular girl that goes to this camp, no madder who I am claimed by" I said and then everyone gasped a couple seconds later and there was a blue glint above my head, and I looked up to see a trident above my head.
"Hail Percy Jackson daughter of Poseidon, Earthshaker, master of the tides and oceans" Chiron said getting into a reluctant bow while I just stood there in shock at how I hadn't figured this out. I had always felt a connection to water, and how it always calmed me down while I swam or was in water period, and then I shook my head at the anger of how he knew, he knew everything and he didn't do anything to help my mother, to help me or my shifting father, Lyn, from death, or talk to me. I stormed off the podium and went to the forest not wanting to go to the lake by cabin three.
I wanted to shift so badly, but I couldn't risk someone seeing and then my secret getting leaked to the others unless they were killed first, or made to keep quiet by a threat. I decided to run, run around the camp and never stop, going over a section of the lake, and back into the forest over and over again, until I was at my tenth lap and was rather calm, and then I noticed that I seemed to be floating above the water and then I sank into it and had to swim to the cabin.
When I got to shore I went in the cabin and decided to look at things and saw that there were rather cool things in the cabin, and then I noticed the layer of dust on everything and spent the rest of the night cleaning everything off, washing and putting the sheets up to dry, and then going outside by the lake and sleeping on the area where the sands and the grass met.
Thanks for reading and I'll have another chapter out soon, 2294 words, 5-19-18.
