THIRTY-FOUR
INDIANA, HAWKINS. MIRKWOOD
we was searching through the forest, linked arms as always. we kept walking. and headed to a point where we decided to split up. and if we can't find anything we'll meet up at castle byers, which is north.
will headed to the right and I went to the left. I couldn't find anything, just trees and trees. I saw in the distance some abandoned cars, there was a school bus all boarded up. I walked closer to it, walking past a mouldy pile of meat.
I quietly walked closer and heard crying from inside. I shoved the door open and quietly walked in.
"mike?" I asked, looking inside, the seats arranged weirdly. he was in the corner.
"Y-y/n, what are you doing here," he asked standing up wiping his eyes.
"everybody's looking for you," I told him, he shrugged.
"why? they don't even like me, I haven't got anyone," he said, sitting on the chair.
"well believe it or not it persuaded for them to come searching for you," I told him sitting down on a seat Infront of him. he put his face in his hands moving his hands back.
"why did you even bother?" he asked me, slightly irritated.
"cause they're your friends, that's what they do," I told him, crossing my legs and folded my arms.
"they're not my friends they'd rather hang around with you," he said and his leg began to bob.
"how do you know that?" I asked him, he looked up and me angrily.
"because all it is it y/n this, y/n that, I tried to make it up to you today because my friends have forgotten about me!" he yelled. I sighed.
"it bothers you doesn't it?" I asked, not moving.
"of course it does! I've always looked out for my friends when no one has an when you came along they were all down out your feet," he told me, his face bright than ever.
"is that really the reason?" I asked him quite softly, crossing my legs on the seat.
"yes it is!" He yelled. I leaned forward slightly.
"or is that your excuse for new comers to not find out about the upside down?" I asked him quietly, he looked at me worried.
"who told you? did will say it? max-" he began to call out names but I quickly cut him off.
"will did, he told me straight after I told him a big secret of mine," I told him he looked at me afraid.
"do the others know about your secret?" he asked sadly. I nodded and he looked at the ground.
"when you held me back and told me there things I dont know about the group, you didn't even know anything from me yet," I said, looking at him. he didn't dare to look up. "you know the fire in the kitchen yesterday?" I asked, he nodded silently. "you know the fire drill today?" I asked he again nodded, looking up to me with furrowed eyebrows. "that was all me," I told him. He stared into my eyes.
"what?" his mouth quivered, beginning to sit up.
"I have powers mike," I told him and his eyebrows raised. "everytime you made me angry, I could burn you," I told him worried. "I wanted tell all of you that I had powers, but you never have me that chance," I told him tears pricked in my eyes. "I could've killed you if wanted to mike," I told him a tear slipped out my eye. "do you know how scary that is for me?" I asked him, he looked at me sadly.
I felt another yet roll down my cheek. I let it fall.
"I've only told will this but, I've killed one of my bestest friends before, and that'll haunt me till the day i die. I was so close to hurting you, I was lucky it was the note and the kitchen," I told him, two more yet falling. "the only reason I came here because I do have a heart, you may not see it but the only reason why I didn't hurt you is because of your friends, they'd be so distraught to not have you around," I told him. he began to cry. "it really scares me mike that I'll hurt you when we're argueing," I said and he cried more.
"I-I-I'm s-sorry t-that I've done this t-to you," he cried, wiping his eyes everytime a tear fell.
"hug it out?" I asked, opening out my arms, he nodded standing up, his lightly taller frame reached out to hug me as he continued to cry. I rubbed his back.
