Just Don't Fall in Love
(A/N: Do you guys still like this? I'm not dragging am I? Please let me know if you're getting bored. I'll start time skipping soon.)
Sebastian helps me out of the car and we walk hand in hand into the restaurant. Thankfully I decided to dress up today so I don't feel horribly out of place. This is easily the nicest place I've been to in a while. And Sebastian looks so dashingly adult in his uniform, sunglasses left in my car. The maître d' looks at us curiously as we approach his station. "Reservations?" Sebastian stands up to his full height pulling me securely to his side. He gives the man a polite smile as he responds, "Of course, under Smythe."
He types into his tablet and then looks up at us with a smile and bright eyes, "Ah, yes. The newlyweds. Right this way Mr and Mrs Smythe. Let me show you to your table." He grabs some menus and begins walking into the dining room leaving us to trail after him. I whisper to Sebastian as we walk, "Newlyweds?" He gives me a coy smile and whispers back, "Go with it Love. It won't be long until it is true."
The maître d' is prattling along as he leads us to the table, pulling out my chair and placing my napkin on my lap. Like I said, this place is pretty swanky. He interrupts my thoughts as he addresses Sebastian. "Sir your waitress will be with you shortly but we have the bottle of white wine you requested set up already." He pours out our wine and then leaves with a slight bow.
I eye the glasses on the table, "Wine? Really Seb?" He smirks at me picking up his glass. "What Pretty Girl? We're celebrating, remember..." He winks my way motioning for me to pick up my glass as well. He clears his throat some, he is not making a toast is he? Raising his glass he gestures to me, "Shannon Lynn, thank you for making me the happiest man on the planet by being mine." I blush as he clinks his glass with mine.
I'm sipping the slightly sweet wine when the waitress appears at our table giving us a smile. "Ah, our newlyweds. Good evening Mr and Mrs Smythe. Don't you look so in love.... Do you mind if I ask how long you've been married?" I'm blushing again unsure of how to answer this but Sebastian has his response all ready, like he's been dying to say it. He looks at me with dreamy eyes as he reaches across the table to grab my hand. "Two months ago my Love made me the happiest I've ever been. Although it feels like much, much longer..."
The waitress looks completely enraptured at his response. She claps her hands joyfully and smiles at us. "How lovely. Well once again, welcome to La Petit Porte. Thank you for making us a part of your special day. If you're ready I can take your orders." Sebastian looks from the waitress to me across the table from him with a small smile, "Princess, are you ready?" I take one more quick look at the menu and nod at him. We both give the waitress our orders and she hurries off leaving us alone again.
He finally releases my hand and starts fiddling with the tablecloth looking more shy little boy than the confident 'Mr Smythe' he was just portraying. "Sebby..." He looks up at me as I raise my eyebrow at him. "Was it too much? I thought you'd get a kick out of being called Mrs Smythe. And hey, I scored us alcohol.... But it's too much, isn't it?" I giggle softly as I sip my wine. "Sebastian Axle you truly are something else. And it's not too much, you just caught me slightly off guard with the 'newlywed' thing."
He chuckles as he reaches for his own wine glass. "Personally I thought that was a stroke of genius on my part. It's amazing how much they're willing to do for you when you tell them something like that." I just shake my head and smile, Sebastian really is too much.
We keep the conversation going throughout dinner. "So Bas, this place is really nice. Like REALLY nice.... How did you even find out about it?" He looks up at me and smiles, "You think? My parents brought me here a few years back. I forgot all about it until today." I place my utensils down and wipe my mouth with my napkin. "Well what made you think of it today?" He sips his wine and scrunches up his eyebrows at me. "Honestly? Hunter was talking about some girl he took on a date to that diner down the street last night. When he mentioned the town I instantly thought of this restaurant and wanted to bring you here."
My eyes go wide and I try to hide my shock, I want to find out what he said but I don't want to give anything away. "Wow, that's weird....." Sebastian smiles at me, "I know right? I was happy though because he just kept going on and on about her so maybe he's officially decided to stop chasing after you." I'm blushing but it isn't for the reason Sebastian thinks, I'm embarrassed that Hunter was bragging.
And it WASN'T. A. DATE!!
I sigh as the waitress comes back to clear our plates. "Thank you for today Sebby." He smiles back at me and grasps my hand. "It was nothing Love. I enjoy seeing you happy. So did anything else interesting happen today?" Hmmm.... I can't tell him about my arguments with the girls. Then my face lights up as I remember my good news with my dancing. "Well I may have a lead on new ballroom lessons. I'm going to test out a class on Sunday."
He squeezes my hand and then sips more of his wine. "That's wonderful Shann! It's always great getting back into something like that. But isn't ballroom a pairs thing? Are they assigning you a stranger?" I shake my head and give him a shy smile in return, "Turns out a friend of mine studies the same style and we're going to see if we can make a pair work for lessons." He eyes me warily, "Shannon, all of your new friends want you. And if this guy is anything like the rest of them he is most likely already in love with you to offer up his services like that."
I wave my hand dismissively. "Trust me I've made it perfectly clear that I want nothing more than friendship. Well and a dance partner for classes." He sighs, still looking uncomfortable. "Okay Pretty Girl. I love you and trust your judgement." He grabs my hand kissing it as the waitress brings our dessert to share. Once she leaves again he smirks my way and gives a little laugh as he lifts his fork. "Just don't go falling in love with this guy. I know how close you have to get in some of those dances."
I roll my eyes and giggle. "Bas, I don't think that will be an issue. I love you and only you. For always..."
