Can I Have Your Daughter For The Rest Of My Life?

"Hi mommy, hi daddy!! Sebastian wanted to talk to you..."

My mother chuckles at that. "Quite the greeting Baby Girl. Hello there Sebastian. Don't you look dashing today with your glasses on..."   I glance over at Sebastian to see him blushing.

He smiles back shyly.   "Thank you so much Mrs Anderson.  You're too kind."  My mother laughs again on the other end of the call, I can see her turning towards my dad. "Isn't he the most polite boy ever?"

"Yes dear.  Hello Princess, Sebastian.   What did you need to discuss with us?"  Sebastian looks at me with fear in his eyes so I scrunch my nose up at him and squeeze his hand.  He takes a deep breath and begins to speak to them.  "Well Mr Anderson, Mrs Anderson firstly I wanted to thank you for the opportunity to talk with you today.  I'd much rather do this in person but you're there and I can't very well catch a flight. Well I could but I have school and my parents may be upset if I spend that much money without telling them.   Not that we don't have money but you know school is important and all. So..."

"Sebby, you're rambling."

He looks over at me and I squeeze his hand again, instantly calming him down some. He looks back towards the computer monitor to see both of my parents smiling at us, completely entranced by our silent interactions. "Sebastian please call us Brenda and Steve. We've told you that before. And breathe dear." He nods, giving them that brilliant smile that I adore and begins again, "Well Brenda, Steve, I love your daughter with my entire being.   She is the most precious and perfect soul I've ever met.   And honestly I don't want to picture my life without her.   Ever."

I'm blushing and trying not to cry because he's just so sweet. He turns to me and smiles shyly, pressing a small kiss to my temple.   "Aaww....  Steve, look, they're so cute together."   We both look back at the screen to see my mother cooing over us.   But then my dad speaks.   "I'm going to stop you right there son."

Sebastian looks back at me nervously.  "But you don't know what I was going to say..."

"That's where you're wrong.   I was young once and I know what those looks you two are sharing mean.   So you want to marry my daughter, do you?"

Sebastian's eyes go wide and I'm trying not to panic.   He stutters out a reply, "Yes....yes. I know we're young but that shouldn't matter."

"Daddy, I love him.   Please hear us out.   Please..."

My mother is smiling but my father is still trying to look stern, although I know him well enough to be able to detect a small smile. He can't seriously be testing Sebastian, can he?

"Fine.   I'm listening."

Sebastian nervously runs a hand through his hair.  "I know this may sound odd to you, but I've loved your daughter since the very first time I saw her.  She captivated me instantly and I felt that spark, you know the one you feel when you are with the person you're meant to be with.   And I know we haven't known each other for all that long, but it feels like she has been here forever.   I've missed out on 17 years without her and I don't want to waste anymore time.   Any image or dream I have for my future includes Shannon in it.   So yes, Mr Anderson, I want to marry your daughter.   And I will, with or without your permission.  Although if you don't give us your blessing I will have to wait a little longer..."  He turns to me, quickly kissing my hand that he is still holding, then he turns back to the computer screen.  "I turn 18 in January, and we can legally get married after that if we have parental permission.  My dad's a states attorney so I'm well versed in the law here.  So please, I'm asking you.  No, no, I'm begging you.  Brenda, Steve, can you please give us your blessing and your permission.  I love your daughter and I want to be with her, to protect her forever.  For us to grow up and grow old together.  Please....."

I'm legit crying right now, happy tears not sad ones though, because Sebastian's words were so beautiful, so sincere.  And as I look through the computer screen I can see my mother sobbing and smiling at the same time, its an interesting combination.  Sebastian turns to me with a small smile on his face, but his eyes instantly become concerned when he sees the state I am in.  He releases my hand and turns my face gently towards his own, completely forgetting about the Skype call we are currently on.  Reaching out with his fingers he delicately brushes the tears off my cheeks, whispering softly to me.  "Don't cry Pretty Girl.   Everything will be okay, we'll figure things out if they don't understand.   I promise."

He leans in and places a soft kiss to my forehead as we hear my dad speak again.  "Yes."  I gasp as Sebastian whips his head back towards the monitor with wide eyes, "Come again?"  My mother looks ready to burst and my dad has a giant grin on his face.  "Yes, yes we give you permission to marry our daughter.  You obviously care a great deal about her and her well being.  So Sebastian, welcome to the family."

"Seriously?!"

My mom nods her head enthusiastically as she wipes away her own tears, "You make our Baby Girl so happy, that is clearly evident.  And you are a very sweet boy.  Please keep us abreast on all of your plans so that we can be there for you both."  Sebastian just looks from the monitor to me with his giant, giddy grin on his face oh my gosh....

"Thank you guys so much!!"

I whisper a quick thank you to my parents as well before we disconnect the call.  My mom blows me a kiss as my dad calls out his goodbyes, "We love you Princess.  Congratulations to you and Sebastian."  And then the call is done.

I close my laptop and Sebastian quickly moves it to my bedside table.  He pulls me close and captures my lips in his own, kissing me until I'm breathless.  "I can't believe it Love, they said we could.  We're doing this!  We're really doing this!!"  I giggle as he jumps off the bed and pulls me to my feet, spinning me around the room.  "Yes Sebby, we're really doing this.  But you know what that means, right?"  His face falls some as he sets me back on my feet.  "Blaine..."  I nod my head as I grab his hand, leading him back towards the door, "Yes Blaine...."

Sebastian and I walk hand in hand down the stairs.  Blaine is seated on the couch with a book and my aunt seems to be fussing with the teapot in the kitchen.  My cousin looks up to see us standing there and he instantly becomes concerned when he sees my face.  "Belle, is everything okay?  You look like you've been crying."  His comments draw my aunt out of the kitchen, she takes a seat on the couch beside him and squeezes my hand as she passes.  "Everything okay Lovebug?"

I nod back and sneak a small glance at Sebastian, he looks even more nervous now standing in front of Blaine than he did talking to my parents just a little while ago.   He sighs softly as he pulls me down to sit with him on the loveseat across from my aunt and cousin.  "Ms Anderson, Blaine, I needed to talk to you about something...."

Blaine's eyes go wide, he's not dumb and I think he gets what Sebastian has to say just from his demeanor.  "Oh my gosh....  You guys are getting married."  I nod but Sebastian tenses up beside me.  "Please don't kill me...."

My aunt laughs at that, "Sebastian you don't have to ask for our approval, right Blaine-darling.  We trust Shannon's judgement."  Sebastian squeezes my hand as he lets out a breath and I giggle softly.  But Blaine still looks at us with narrowed eyes.

"Blainey-bear, say something.  Please."

He rises to his feet and comes to stand directly in front of us, crossing his arms over his chest.  "Smythe, you hurt her, I hurt you.  Got it?"

"Crystal clear Killer, crystal clear.  But I've told you this before, hurting her would be like hurting myself.   And I love myself far too much to do something so foolish."

Blaine breaks into his easy-going Anderson smile at that and extends his hand, which Sebastian shakes still slightly uneasy about all of this.  "Good, at least we're in agreement here.  But I guess welcome to the family..."

My eyes go wide and I jump to my feet, all but tackling Blaine in a hug, whispering softly in his ear.

Thank you Blainey....
