Chapter 21

Did it ever happen that you tried to run from something but it came closer? The further you went the nearer it became, the faster you ran the slower it became to run from it. Had it ever happened to you when you were embarrassed and wished to hide in your blanket but ended up standing in front of the person who made you feel like that? Had it?

Haajar sighed before she rested her head on the wall. She closed her eyes and groaned. Why - she asked to herself. I could have been speared for just one day, just one. At least the very next day.

Alessia came out of the kitchen and was walking back to the room when she found Haajar near the entrance. She frowned as she said, "What happened to you today? What gibberish are you murmuring?"

"Why did you call him here today? Why do you call him so often? He isn't going to help us with the trials. He gave us all the information, now we do not need him. Why do we meet him every now and then?"

"William has been here every single day but I never saw you complain about that. That is what you must complain about. This poor kid rarely visits us. We often talk on the phone. He doesn't even come to trials because of his work. What are you talking about?"

"Why is he here? Today, why is he here? Today matters."

"Why? Anyway," Alessia shook her head, "he said he wanted to talk to me about something, that is why he is here. Is everything alright? Did something happen?"

"No."

"Then why have you been glued to the wall ever since he came? Are you trying to bury yourself in it? I don't think you can fit here. Try the one in the bedroom. It's broader." Alessia patted Haajar shoulder before she walked to Raiyan. Haajar remained in her spot, trying to hide her face as much as she could.

Raiyan frowned in concern when he saw Haajar still resting her head on the wall. Alessia caught those worried eyes and waved her hands. "She is fine. Just a little moody." She sat on the chair and smiled at him. "So what is it that you want to ask?"

"It is about the case. I mean the properties. We are using the fact that my brother named everything after him and took everything from us. Now that means everything. However, I am not interested in that. I just want to save this house and nothing else but as we are claiming that everything belonged to my father and not my brother, in case we win, does that mean we win everything? Will the court take away all the properties from them?"

"Is that what you want us to do?"

"No! I want nothing else. My niece and nephew can have it. I do not desire to take away anything from them. It is good that their future is secured. I want it that way. I do not want anything else. I don't even want the fair share. Just that house is enough."

"Noted. I will make sure that is how things turn out. Although we can get you your fair share. It is only fair."

"I am fine."

"Okay. We will get working on it."

Abruptly the door opened and William rushed in. "I found it! I found it!"

"What?" Haajar said as she started to walk closer. "Did you record your partner accepting his crime like you wanted to try?"

"No! I did not see him. I was not in a mood. But I found a support group or discussion group where I can fit in! What is it called support or discussion, or is it something else? Hey! Raiyan. Didn't see you there. You should eat something and gain weight. You are not visible." Raiyan smiled as a response but soon frowned at his remark. "I was actually very confused," William walked around the sofa to sit on the other side.  "Should I go to a group for divorcees or alcoholics because it was a problem until recently or is there a group which discusses betrayal or maybe something which I am going through? It was confusing."

"Where do you fit then?" Alessia asked, who had a pleasant smile on her face.

"I am starting my own group!" Haajar eyes widened as she heard him talk. "It's for the people who have multiple things happening. We don't have one problem, we don't go through life with just one cloud above us! We have so many reasons and so much anger, grudge and sadness. We need a place that calculates it all and not just one thing. Sure one focus helps some people but this is a need of the hour."

"That actually is very smart," Alessia said nodding her head. "And wise. I must say I am impressed."

"I am sure you are! The very first meeting will be arranged soon! You all must come."

"It's a deal," Alessia said extending her hand which was warmly received by William.

"Raiyan and Haajar, I except you two there too. We all need this. We all have so must on our chests. We need to get above it."

"That is true," Alessia nodded her head. "Now that my little kids are no more kids and are turning teenagers, I need this more. More and more."

"You have teenagers?" Raiyan asked in disbelief.

"As of yesterday two of my children are now teenagers. Unfortunately."

"I did not see that coming." Raiyan shook his head as he said.

"She needs to tell us about her magic potion, right?" William asked Raiyan who nodded his head. "I will head out now. I have some work to do. I stopped by just to inform you all about this great idea! I will see you girls soon. Raiyan, let's meet for lunch someday."

"I would love that, sir." William smiled affectionately before leaving the office. Raiyan still had something to discuss with Alessia, so she allowed Haajar to leave for home, while they stayed back. Haajar could not be happier. She picked everything that was on her table, picked her bag and left within seconds. Once she walked out of the building she stopped for a moment and shoved everything in her bag. She started to walk towards the bus stand when a sudden feeling visited her. She started to miss her family. She started to miss her house. Pulling the phone out of her bag she called her mother. Soon Rahmat took over the phone and sooner than that a plan was made. Sufiyan was to dine out that evening, he was not expected to be home until late but Haajar did not wish to take any risk. She was not going to cross paths with him at any cost. Making an excuse Haajar said she wished to eat Chinese and that was their destination. Rahemat told her to stay intact as he and Valiqa were coming to pick her up.

Haajar did not wish to but had to walk back to the building as that was where they were scheduled to meet. Haajar prayed to escape Raiyan once again, but what we pray we don't always get. Ten minutes later Haajar was walking back and forth when she saw Raiyan but she turned around and pretended to have not seen him. Raiyan saw her as well but walked in the other direction, following her trend. Haajar walked straight for a minute before turning around and walking back to the building. She was pleased that she succeeded in avoiding him. Then she reached the building again and saw a foot in front of her. Upon looking up she found Raiyan standing. He smiled at her making her smile as well.

"Is there something wrong? I feel like you are avoiding me. Not that I am someone who cannot be avoided but if there is then I would like to know what wrong did I do?"

"Why do you think you did something wrong?"

He frowned for a second before saying, "there needs to be a reason for someone to avoid you."

"The other person can be the one who gives the reason. It need not be you."

"But you didn't do anything. Then it must be me."

Haajar chuckled before smiling. "You are too good for yourself."

"I am thinking maybe I repaired some of the damage." She looked up at him and he smiled this time. "Was it something serious? What did I do?"

"Nothing! Why will you do something? "

"Why were you avoiding me then?"

"Because," she looked away and raised her eyebrows in embarrassment.

"Because?"

"Yesterday," she whispered making him lower his head. " was embarrassing."

"Yes? Yesterday?" He frowned, "At the park?"

Haajar nodded her head. "I should have not snapped at you like that. I am sorry."

"What is there to be sorry about? You did nothing wrong. About snapping, it was visible that the guest of yours annoyed you. I do not know how but I can imagine him being someone who annoys people easily."

"But I should have not snapped at you. It was wrong. It was wrong to snap at the kids as well. I just lost it I guess."

"Once in a while, we must lose it. How else will we realise we are humans?"

Haajar looked up at him before chuckling again. "I am still sorry"

"You do not have to. This was why you were avoiding me? That was not even a reason. You think a lot."

"That, I do."

"You do not have to think that must about me or things related to me. I do not think much, I would mostly miss out on any snapping or different behaviour. I am not that observant."

"I don't know if I should compliment that nature or not but thank you for saying that. It made me feel better."

Raiyan smiled wider, "I am glad. Are you waiting for someone here? Alessia seemed busy. She might take a while."

"It is not her. Ammi and Rahemat uncle are coming. We are going for dinner together."

"That is great. Your family often makes plans like this. It is good."

"Uncle makes plans. I and Ammi are relatively boring."

"He is very social. I guess he likes to go out for dinner, plan events and enjoy to the fullest."

"He is but I do not understand whether he likes to make plans or he makes them to amuse me. Nevertheless, he enjoys it."

"He is full of life. I am jealous of you. You get to see him daily."

Haajar kept looking at him for a few seconds before a wide smile made its way to her face, making her eyes shine bright.
