Chapter 4: Boredom

[Time Skip, 20 Minutes]

I sat silently typing away on the holographic keyboard that projected itself off of the device on my wrist. I had invited myself along with the group I ran into while I was in the forest. I typed my quest log, recording the events so far and the information I gathered on the world. I had noticed the four people around me were practically staring at my every move. I sighed and closed down the hologram.

Me: "Is there something you people need?"

I looked at them with a bored expression. They weren't a challenge, the one in old spartan armor was decent but nowhere near my level. Therefore they had no real value in my eyes besides a means to gather information.

Jaune: "So uh.... where are you from?"

Me: "I come from a planet called Earth, in dimension seven thousand six hundred and seventy two."

All four of them looked at me with bewildered expressions. I pulled my keyboard back up.

Me: "So I'm guessing your world hasn't figured out inter dimensional travel?"

They stayed quiet.

Me: "How about space travel?"

They actually responded to that one by shaking their heads.

Me: "I'm guessing attempts were made but proved unsuccessful?"

Jaune nodded. I typed a few things down then looked up again.

Me: "Okay, So space travel is in very early stages while the idea of other dimensions is no where near the beginning process of development. Have any of you heard of other dimensions? Like from stories, books, TV, movies, anything like that?"

Jaune: "I-I read a book that had something like that in it."

Me: "So, fictional ideas of dimensions exists. Now what kind of state is the world in? Age of peace, at war, recovering?"

Pyrrha: "Well I suppose we're at peace. The Great War ended nearly eighty years ago."

I typed "At peace=Boring".

Me: "And what major powers are there in the world?"

Pyrrha: "There's Vale, where we are now. Then there's Atlas to the north, Vacuo to the West, then Mistral to the east."

Me: "So 'Vale' sits at the center of the world. Interesting. Alright that's enough of the world for now. I'll learn more later. Now for you four."

I created a new section in my log and typed in each of their names.

Me: "So it's, Jaune Arc."

I pointed to the blonde and he nodded.

Me: "Pyrrha Nikos?"

I pointed to the red head and she nodded.

Me: "Nora Valkyrie?"

I pointed to the orange haired girl and scowled at me, obviously still upset I beat her effortlessly.

Me: "And Lie Ren?"

I looked to the male sitting next to her with black hair and he nodded.

Me: "Alright. Now-"

Suddenly the Bullhead shook violently.

Pilot: "Shit! A Nevermore just came outta fucking nowhere! It didn't hit anything important but it's closing in on our tail!"

I sighed and closed my keyboard once more. I walked to the side door and swung it open. I stuck my head out and looked behind the aircraft to see a giant raven like bird.

Me: 'Hm... "Quoth the Raven, Nevermore." Interesting.'

I leaned back in the Bullhead and looked to the cockpit.

Me: "Fly straight up for about seven seconds then straighten out at a safe altitude, understood?"

Pilot: "What?! What do you plan on doing kid!?"

Me: "Do you want to die?!"

Pilot: "Your funeral! Everybody grab onto something!"

He suddenly pulled the handles back, making the VTOL go straight up. I waited a few seconds then jumped from the Bullhead. I was free falling for maybe a few seconds before grabbing onto the giant black bird. I held onto one of its feathers tightly and started thinking.

Me: "What should I use. Let's see, I went through Dark Souls, Dark Siders, Prototype... guess I could try a firearm."

I took a breath and smiled.

Me: "System equip, Titanfall series, X-55 Devotion."

The light machine gun appeared in my free hand then I pressed it to the back of the Grimm's head. I then held down the tigger, delivering a storm of bullets through the creatures head, even after it went still I didn't stop, I simply unloaded the entire clip and stood up.

Me: "System unequip, Titanfall series, x-55 Devotion."

I let go of the rifle as it disappeared back into my inventory.

Me: "I suppose that was more interesting then taking notes, still rather disappointing. Now... what do I use to get off of this thing."

I started to scroll through my inventory as the giant bird plummeted to the ground with me standing on top of it.

Me: "Oh here we go. System equip, God of War Series, Wings of Icarus."

Suddenly wings appeared on my back, and with one mighty flap I was off of the Nevermore and looking over the forest below. I stayed at the same altitude as I looked around the landscape, the forest seemed to go on for a long while, but on the horizon I saw a structure standing tall above everything else.

Me: 'Guess I'll head there.'

[Time Skip, Brought to You by Chibi Nora Hanging Upside Down in a Tree]

I circled around the structure and landed on a helipad-like area. The building was massive and had a large tower near the front that was detached from the main building, on the opposite side was another tower with some kind of antenna sticking off the top. As I landed I folded the wings to my back then began walking forward.

Me: "System Unequip, God of War series, Wings of Icarus."

The wings on my back disappeared as I looked around. I decided to go for one of the large towers, seeing as they were the most likely place for me to find someone of interest.

Me: "The tower with the antenna is most likely a communications relay, so I'll go for the other one. If video games have taught me anything it means whoever is at the top will either be a boss or an important NPC."

I began walking towards it while recording map data. I wasn't watching where I was going, only focusing on my work, which lead to me bumping into someone. While I barely moved they fell backwards. I sighed and put the holographic display away. I looked up to see three girls standing there, all looking rather shocked. One had pure white hair while dressed in a very pale blue dress, her eyes were blue. Then there was a girl with long black hair, dressed in a white and black outfit, she had golden eyes. The last one was noticeably shorter than the other two, younger looking as well. She had black hair with red highlights at the tips, she wore a red and black outfit with a red hood, her eyes were silver. I looked down slightly to see another girl I hadn't noticed until now, she had long blonde hair, wore an outfit that showed off her bust and mid stomach, she had lilac colored eyes. I sighed and shook my head, then began walking around them.

Me: 'Boring stereotypical introduction.'

As I walked away I began going back to what I was doing only to stop as one of the females spoke.

???: "Not even an apology!? How could you be so rude?!"

The voice spoke with pride and self worth, I could tell her mind didn't have a filter to control her thoughts. I stopped and turned my head. It was the girl in white who spoke to me.

Me: "I suggest you remain quiet. I didn't feel the need to apologize for such a trivial accident. If you're friend there got hurt by a fall, then she is far too weak and I will have no further interaction with her. Which warranted me to simply ignore this moment."

The blonde had risen from the ground and stared at me.

White: "W-Why you!"

The one in white started to step forward, only to be stopped by the one in black.

Black: "Who are you? I've never seen you here before."

Me: "I just flew in. I wanted to see if this place was any fun. But so far it's turning out to be a pain."

They suddenly tensed up and looked at me with surprise.

Red: "Wait you just walked in here!? You know you can't do that! You have to-"

I interrupted her.

Me: "I don't care for rules or regulations. But I've grown bored of this conversation and info exchange. So unless you're going to provide me with a decent fight, I'll be on my way."

I began to walk again only to hear running behind me, I pretended I didn't notice.

Red: "Yang no!"

I focused my senses behind me, quickly gathering that the female known as "Yang" was throwing a haymaker at the back of my head. Just as the punch neared my head I lean my head to the side, causing her to miss. I then grabbed onto her arm and flipped her over me, sending the blonde to the ground once more.

Me: "Your form was sloppy. If you're going to attack from behind conceal your footsteps and go for a strike you can quickly guard from if need be. These are basic things you should already know."

She quickly got up and readied some kind of gauntlets on her wrists. They were yellow and black, I could see what looked to be shotgun shells loaded into a chamber on the gauntlet as well.

Me: "Gauntlets that double as a ranged weapon, interesting. But since this is still technically a fist fight my handicap will be not using a weapon against you."

I cracked my knuckles and stood there for a moment.

Me: 'Close fighter, choice of apparel, and the unwillingness to listen to her friend. Adds up to a brawler, short fuse and even shorter range. But then again she has those gauntlets that let her make up for that, also adding a kick to her normal fists."

She lunged at me and began swinging, however I batted away each punch with one hand. She suddenly threw a kick at my side, which I caught easily. I then placed my free hand to her kneecap.

Me: "This fight is over. You now have a broken leg which will take you out of the fight."

I tossed her leg upward making her fall back yet again.

Me: "I hope this was a good learning experience for you. You have good raw power, but not enough intelligence."

She suddenly threw a punch in the air, which then sent out a fireball like projectile. I sighed as I let it hit me, and once the smoke cleared I looked at the girl known as Yang.

Me: "You see? I don't like fights that provide no challenge."

[Ruby's POV]

Blake, Weiss, and I watched as Yang tried to attack the man only to fail.

Me: 'I've never seen someone take a direct hit from Ember Celica and not have a scratch. Could his aura really be that strong...? Maybe it's his semblance?'

Suddenly the male disappeared from sight for a moment, only to reappear right in front of Yang. He didn't move though he just stood there a moment. Yang quickly jumped to her feet and backed away to ready herself.

Male: "Your reaction time is about... .15 or .16 seconds. That beats the normal human reaction time for visual stimulus... but it's still too slow to fight at my level, I suggest you stop now before I actually begin to spar with you."

I knew Yang wouldn't give up a fight, she never has.

Me: 'I guess technically he is an unknown person walking into Beacon, he could be up to no good...'

Me: "Guys, let's help Yang!"
