Chapter Three: Welcome to the Crew

Welcome to the Crew

Ingrid's POV

Everything was very hectic and the last thing I remember before blacking out is being on a small ship with a group of people that I didn't know. But I remember... they saved me. They saved me from being executed.

I hate it when I owe people.

I shot up and looked around, breathing heavily. I was in what appeared to be some sort of medical bay. And they took care of me after I passed out.

Great. I owe them more now.

The door opened. I quickly laid back down and closed my eyes, pretending to be asleep.

I heard the person chuckle a bit. "I know you're awake." He said.

What?!

"I can also tell that you're surprised. Come on, sit up, so we can talk." Hesitantly, I did what he asked. I opened my eyes to see an older man, maybe in his mid thirties. He had brown hair pulled back into a pony tail. He wore a yellow shirt and brown pants. He also wore armor on his shoulder and a part of his chest. He had a blaster in his holster and a weapon I didn't recognize.

"W-who are you?" I asked cautiously.

"My name is Kanan Jerrus." He introduced himself.

"And where am I?"

"On our ship, The Ghost." He replied.

Silence.

"Thank you." I murmured.

"Hm?"

"For saving me. Thank you."

"It's what we do." Kanan nodded.

"Wait... Where exactly are we? Er, planet wise." I asked.

"Not Lothal, not anymore."

I quickly looked up. "What?! I need to go back, I need to-"

"I'm sorry, but we can't take you back there, the Empire is looking for us, and you too. It would be too dangerous to return to Lothal now." Kanan apologized.

I couldn't believe this. I was leaving Lothal. I mean, I had never really liked it there in the first place, maybe this was for the best. Maybe I was destined to leave Lothal with Kanan and his friends.

"Why did you save me?" I asked suddenly. Kanan looked over.

"What do you mean?" He questioned.

"Like, you could've been doing anything else. Something that would help bring the Empire down, but you and your friends chose to save... me." I said.

"We saved you because that's what we do. We help those who can't help themselves." Kanan replied.

"You saying I can't help myself?" I raised an eyebrow.

"Well you did manage to get yourself captured by the Empire." Kanan shrugged.

"Yeah, yeah, okay fair point." I muttered.

"If you're feeling up to it, you could come meet the rest of the crew." Kanan offered.

"Erm... maybe later." I smiled. "How many members of your crew are there?"

"Well, if you count our droid, Chopper, and myself, six." Kanan replied.

Jeez, that's a lot of people. Six? I'm not a very social person, being introduced to five other people all at once would be way to much for me to handle.

"Wow. That's... a lot of people." I laughed nervously. "Yeah, definitely maybe later." Kanan shrugged.

"You can come and meet them whenever you feel ready, but you'll need to eventually. Where do you want us to take you?" He asked me. I looked up. So I really wasn't going back to Lothal, I was honestly fine with that but I'm weird. Once someone says I can't have or do something (even if I didn't want to do or have it in the first place) then that's suddenly the only thing I want.

"Er... I don't know." I admitted. "Are you sure you can't take me back to Lothal?" I asked. He nodded.

"It would be too dangerous for you to return to Lothal, unless you want to die." He replied.

"Okay, okay, I get it. No Lothal." I held my hands up in surrender.

"I'm going to check on the others, come out when you're feeling up to it." He said before leaving me alone to my thoughts.

I was finally free from Lothal. I had been wanting to leave for such a long time, but I couldn't afford a ticket on a shuttle off of the Godforsaken rock. I saved up my credits, but I had to spend them on food and supplies later on. It was a nightmare. I thought I was going to have to spend the rest of my life there.

* * *

It was about an hour later. I swung my legs and let them hang off of the side of the bed. I stood up. I decided it was time for me to meet the crew of this ship. I walked out of the medical bay and just started wandering around. I wasn't exactly sure where the 'rec room' was.

I rounded a corner and finally came to a room where I found five people (and a droid) all gathered around. They all looked towards me and I could feel myself beginning to blush.

"Everyone, this is Ingrid Krystal." Kanan introduced me. I waved.

"Hello." I greeted.

"It's nice to meet you," A green Twi'lek stood up. "My name is Hera, the captain of the Ghost."

"Nice to meet you as well." I replied.

"Since no one else is going to introduce themselves," Hera glared around the room. "I'll do it for them. That's Sabine, she's our demolitions expert." Hera nodded towards a girl in Mandalorian armor.

"I prefer artist." She shrugged.

"That's Zeb, he's... well, the muscle, I guess you could say." Hera shrugged and nodded towards a Lesat. "This is Ezra, the newest member of the team," a kid with dark-bluish hair waved. "And last but not least, this is Chopper." She said, kneeling down next to an orange and white droid.

He beeped a few times and Hera rolled her eyes.

"So, you're the kid the Imperials wanted to kill?" Zeb asked. Sabine elbowed him in his side. "Ow... What?"

"Don't be rude, Zeb." Sabine sighed.

"No, it's okay." I said. "Er, yeah, they wanted to." I answered his question, even though it was obvious. Wasn't he the one who was talking about how I needed to be grateful?

"So, are you planning on staying with us?" The kid, Ezra, asked.

"What? Oh, no, I couldn't. Kanan said you guys were just going to drop me off somewhere-" Hera cut me off.

"You told her what?" She asked. "Kanan! We can't just leave her on some random planet by herself with no resources and no help! That isn't how we roll and until further notice, Ingrid, you're Specter 7!"

Everyone stared at her. She seemed very upset over this.

"No, really it's fine!" I tried.

"My mind is made up." Hera said.

Am I a member of this crew now?
