Chapter Seven: Training

Training

Ingrid's POV

So, Kanan decided that Ezra and I needed more weapons training if we were going to be prepared the next time we faced the Inquisitor. NEXT TIME?!

"Heh, what do you mean 'next time'?" I asked as Ezra and I followed Kanan off of the Ghost and out into an open field where Hera had landed the ship specifically so we could have this lesson with Kanan.

"There will be a next time, Ingrid." Kanan said. "I hate to say it, but it's inevitable. He always manages to find us and we always end up having to confront him and I want you two to be able to protect yourselves if we get separated."

"Kanan, I have a lightsaber, I think I'll be fine if I run into him." Ezra said.

"You still have a lot to learn, my young Padawan." Kanan laughed and shook his head a bit. Ezra shrugged.

"C'mon, I've faced him before." He said.

"You were with me when you faced him, but if we get separated and you were unprepared, something could happen to you. I refuse to let either of you get hurt or captured and you not have been prepared because I didn't prepare you." Kanan said. "So, we're going to train."

"Fine, fine." Ezra gave in. "Training sounds like... fun."

"Not really." I replied.

"Yeah, no it doesn't." Ezra agreed. Kanan sighed and rolled his eyes.

"Come on, you two." He said and led us into the field. "Okay, Ezra, you're obviously going to continue to learn to fight with your lightsaber." Kanan began. "But you, Ingrid, you're going to learn how to fire a blaster."

Okay, I had been living on the streets for a while, I know how to fire a blaster. But, I decided to mess with Kanan a little bit.

"Okay, but I warn you, I'm kinda a lousy shot." I sighed with a small shrug.

"Then I'll teach you. It isn't that hard." Kanan replied. "We'll start with Ezra. Come on, Kid." He said. Ezra sighed and followed Kanan out into the field. Kanan ignited his lightsaber and Ezra followed in suit.

"So are you two gonna duel or something?" I asked.

"That's exactly what we're going to do." Kanan replied with a small nod. "Ezra, are you ready?"

"Yeah, are you ready to get beat?" Ezra replied, smirking a bit.

"Ezra," Kanan sighed. "You may be good, but you're still learning."

"That's the nice way of saying that you can't beat him because you suck." I put in.

"I didn't say that!" Kanan exclaimed.

"Yeah, but that's what you were implying." I replied with a small shrug.

"I'll beat you, Kanan." Ezra vowed.

"Let's just get started." Kanan said. He and Ezra looked at each other before charging. Their sabers clashed and they began to spar. I had never seen anything like it. It was amazing how good they both were. How had they learned to fight like that? Ezra did a back handspring at one point, which was also amazing.

Ezra did end up being beat by Kanan, though. "So, what was that about you beating me, Ezra?" Kanan asked, smiling a bit.

Ezra rolled his eyes and got back up to his feet."Your turn, Ingrid." He said. "Good luck."

"Have you ever held a blaster?" Kanan asked me. I shook my head, continuing to mess with him. "Okay, here, let me go set up something that you can try to hit." He went inside the ship. I quickly turned to Ezra.

"This is going to be hilarious." I smiled.

"What do you mean?" Ezra asked.

"Let's just say I know what I'm doing."

* * *

Kanan brought out a few old rusted parts that I would be using as targets. "You can set them up a bit father away, you know." I told him.

"You sure?" Kanan asked me, raising his eyebrow a bit. "You said you've never even held a blaster."

"Just do it, please." I sighed. He shrugged and did what I asked.

"Here." He said and handed me his blaster. "Try to hit the targets." He told me. I took the blast from and aimed it. "Now, don't get upset if you can't hit it the first time..."

I shot and hit the target. I fired again and again and hit all of the targets. I looked at Kanan. "Like that?"

Kanan had a look of awe on his face. "Hey, Ingrid?" He asked.

"Mm-hm?"

"You know how to fire, don't you?" Kanan sighed. I nodded.

"Yep."

"Oh. Good to know."

Ezra laughed a little. I flashed a quick smile. "Next time we run into the Inquisitor, we'll be ready." I assured Kanan.

"I'm sure you will be." He nodded in reply. "But whatever you do, don't underestimate him."

"I never underestimate." I said. "Maybe that's Ezra you're thinking of."

"Hey! I don't underestimate my opponents!"

"No. You're right, Ezra, you don't underestimate them." Kanan agreed. Ezra smirked. "But, you do overestimate your own abilities."

Ezra's smile vanished and he looked annoyed. Kanan shrugged and smiled a bit. "Only telling the truth." He shrugged.

"Yeah, okay." Ezra huffed.

"Aw, did someone get their feelings hurt?" I teased. Ezra rolled his eyes, but smiled lightly.

"You two can go back in if you want." Kanan said.

"Finally." Ezra sighed and headed towards the Ghost, I followed him.

3rd Person POV

Kanan watched as his Padawan and new friend walked towards the ship, side-by-side. Was he right about this feeling? He couldn't be sure right now, he would have to be patient and wait.

But there was something that made him believe that the feeling he had was right.

He just hoped that the Inquisitor didn't have the same feeling that he did.

[WHOAAAAA cliffhanger!!!! I finally updated. Dang it's been a while. Just kidding, it's been like two or three days. But it feels like forever.

Anyway, what is Kanan's feeling? Find out later! It's going to be great!!
