Chapter Nine: Missing
Missing
3rd Person
As the worried crew sat in the rec room, anxiously awaiting Ezra and Ingrid's return, Kanan suddenly ceased his pacing and spun around on his heel. "Oh no." He said.
"Kanan, what's wrong?" Hera questioned, getting to her feet. The Jedi turned to the Twi'Lek pilot, his eyes were wide and his fear was obvious.
"They... they're gone." He said, in utter shock. "Ezra and Ingrid... they aren't on Lothal anymore."
This news shocked everyone, and they all began to panic. "What do you mean they're not on Lothal anymore?" Sabine asked. "Where are they, then?"
Kanan shook his head, unsure of what to say next. "I don't know. I just know that they aren't here anymore. I can't feel their presences."
"Well, maybe you're wrong." Zeb said. "Maybe they're just lost or something!"
"No, no, I know they aren't on Lothal. I know I'm not wrong." Kanan scratched the back of his head. "Where are they?!"
"Kanan, calm down. We all need to calm down." Hera said to the crew. "We just need to go into town and start looking for them, okay?"
The others silently agreed with her and began to gather what they would need on this mission.
Kanan tried to remain calm, like Hera had told him to, but it was hard. His Padawan and Ingrid were missing- and no longer on Lothal. How was that possible?
Where are they? He thought. Where are they? What did I tell them? Stay out of sight!
But he didn't have time to be angry at them, he had to find them, no matter what.

The crew arrived in town and looked around. "You guys!" Sabine called them over to a pair of speeders. "These are the speeders they used to get to town!"
"That means they were here." Zeb added. Chopper beeped. "Ah, shut up, you bucket of bolts. I know that was obvious." Zeb snapped.
"I knew it was a bad idea for them to go on their own." Kanan sighed. "This is my fault."
"Don't blame yourself, Kanan. That won't bring them back." Hera said.
"You're right," Kanan agreed. "Let's keep looking."
And so, they continued their search. They asked the locals if they had seen anything suspicious and if they had seen Ingrid or Ezra. Most of them seemed too afraid to speak.
"This is pointless." Zeb said. "No one's gonna talk!"
"Someone must've seen something..." Kanan trailed off.
That's when they heard someone say: "Psst..." They looked over and saw someone. It was a stormtrooper cadet. Kanan and Hera exchanged a glance and then cautiously walked over to the cadet.
"Who are you?" Kanan asked.
"A friend." The cadet replied quietly. "You're looking for your friends, right?"
"Yeah, we are. Do you know something?" Hera asked. The cadet nodded.
"Yeah, they were here. The Empire found them, the Inquisitor was here too. They were captured and taken off planet. They're going to take them to an Imperial prison somewhere, I think." He said.
"What?! We have to find out where they are right now!" Sabine exclaimed. "Kid, do you know which Star Destroyer they're being held on?"
The cadet shook his head. "No, I'm sorry. The only thing I know for sure is that the destroyer that they're on hasn't left the system."
"Thank you, thank you so much." Hera said. She turned to her friends. "We need to get back to the Ghost and find out which Destroyer they're on."
"Right." Kanan nodded. They turned to leave. "Hey, kid, thanks again." Kanan turned again and began to dash away when he heard the cadet.
"Zare."
Kanan turned. "Sorry?"
"Zare, that's my name. Zare Leonis."
"Oh, well then thank you, Zare Leonis." Kanan nodded. Zare returned the nod and then Kanan turned around and rushed to catch up with his friends.
They were going to get Ezra and Ingrid back, no matter what. The only problem was they had no idea which Star Destroyer they were on. Kanan was going to have to try to use the force to sense Ezra and find him.

When they got to the Ghost, Kanan immediately went back to his room and began to meditate. He couldn't feel Ezra, he couldn't sense him. Kanan sighed.
"Ezra... if you're there, please say something." He thought.
Silence.
"Ezra, please!" Kanan begged.
Nothing. And then...
"KANAN!"
It wasn't Ezra's voice.
[I apologize for the short message. I know it's really short and not as long as I intended for it to be, but what a cliff hanger, right??? I'm super excited about the next chapter because Ezra and Ingrid are going to bond some more, which is great. Just so you guys know, Ezra and Ingrid are not a couple, nor am I planning for them to become a couple any time soon. Maybe sometime in the future they'll become a thing, but as of right now... NOPE.
