Chapter Five: The Mission
The Mission
Ingrid's POV
It had been a few weeks since I had 'joined' the Ghost crew. It had been great so far. There was just one problem.
I barely knew any of them.
I decided that if I was going to be living on the same ship as these people it would be good if I got to know each of them a bit better. I guess I knew Sabine and Hera pretty well, and Kanan too. But Zeb, Ezra, and Chopper were practically strangers to me.
Well, Chopper's a droid, so getting to know him should be easy... right?
Wrong. Very wrong. As it turns out, he's a grumpy droid who hates almost everyone. Or at least he acts like he does.
Zeb seems nice enough. He's the last of his kind, apparently, which sucks.
But Ezra, on the other hand wouldn't really open up to me about his past, which I was perfectly okay with, but I was going to find out sooner or later. It was inevitable, I was living with him, it's not like he could keep it a secret forever.
But it's not like I was going to go seeking it out or anything. I wasn't going to go up to anyone and ask, 'Hey, Ezra wouldn't tell me about his past so I decided to invade his privacy and ask you instead. So, what can you tell me?'
No, definitely not.
I was hanging out in mine and Sabine's room when someone knocked on the door. Before I even got the chance to answer, the door slid open and I saw Hera standing outside.
"Meet in the rec room in five, we have a new mission." She announced. I nodded.
"Okay, I'll be there." I told her. She replied with a nod and the door closed. I stood up and stretched. I wondered what this new mission was going to be about. Would we be stealing weapons from the Empire? Or maybe secret intel? Whatever it was, I was in.
I entered the rec room to find I wasn't the last one to arrive, thank goodness. Ezra had yet to show up.
"Where is he?" Kanan wondered aloud.
"He probably forgot about the meeting," Zeb scoffed.
"Give him a second." Hera held her hand up. No more than ten seconds later, Ezra came into the room. "See, we're all here now."
"What's this meeting about?" Ezra asked.
"A mission." Kanan replied.
"Okay, what mission?" Sabine asked. "What are we doing, and or stealing?"
"The Empire is planning on smuggling a shipload of Mass Shadow Generators into each one of the systems. It's our job to stop this ship, and by stop I mean-"
"Make it go boom?" Sabine guessed, finishing Kanan's sentence. He nodded.
"Yeah, by making it go boom."
"Wait, but I thought Mass Shadow Generators were huge, how can they fit so many on one ship?" I asked.
"That's what we were wondering, too." Hera nodded. "But, it's come to our attention that they've actually been able to miniaturize the Mass Shadow Generator."
"But if they get one of those to every system then they're going to be able to control, well, everyone!" Sabine exclaimed. "Doesn't the Empire know what power those things have? They were outlawed during the Clone Wars for a reason!"
"The Empire doesn't care whether or not they were outlawed." Kanan said. "All they care about is being able to control everyone, no matter the cost."
"So, what's the plan?" Zeb asked.
"I'm glad you asked." Hera replied. "We're going to be splitting up, me, Zeb, and Chopper are going to remain on the Ghost and distract them, give them a fight, while the rest of you sneak aboard the ship using the Phantom and get to the engines. Sabine, you know what to do from there."
"Make it go boom." Sabine smirked.
"Exactly." Hera replied.
"Wait, so I'm going on the ship?" I asked.
"Yeah, thought you could use the experience." Hera shrugged.
"Okay... Sounds fun, I guess." I shrugged.
"You can help me with the fun part." Sabine smiled. "I'll go get my things."

It was almost time to go. I was ready. I had my leather jacket on and my blaster at my side. I had pulled my dark hair back into a simple braid.
"Ready to go?" Kanan asked. I nodded. "Okay then, get to the Phantom, we're preparing to jump out of hyperspace."
"Okay." I replied and headed towards the Phantom. Ezra was the only one there when I got there.
He glanced up and I realized that his eyes were a bright blue... almost purple, even. "Oh, hey." He greeted.
"Hey." I replied and stepped into the Phantom.
"You ready for this?" Ezra asked me.
"Yeah, I think so." I nodded. "You?"
"Yeah. Definitely." He replied. "Is this your first time sneaking on to an Imperial ship and then blowing it up?"
"Yeah, yours?"
"Nah." I looked over and raised an eyebrow. He shrugged. "Long story. Well, several long stories." He laughed a little.
"Am I supposed to laugh too?" I asked. He rolled his eyes.
"Just sit down, we're getting ready to go, Krystal." He told me.
"Don't call me that, my name is Ingrid," I then smirked a bit. "Bridger."
"Okay, if I don't get to call you by your last name, then you don't get to call me by mine. Deal?" He stuck his hand out. I took it.
"Deal."
Only five minutes later Kanan and Sabine arrived. "We're coming out of hyperspace, are you two ready for this?" He asked.
"Do you even need to ask?" Ezra replied. Kanan rolled his eyes and smiled a bit.
"Of course you are, kid." He said. "Ingrid, are you ready for this?"
"Yeah, I'm ready." I nodded after taking a deep breath. "Let's do this."
"It'll be fun." Sabine said. "Come on, Hera said we're ready to go." Kanan nodded and got into the pilot's seat for the Phantom. We had come out of hyperspace and could see the Imperial Star Destroyer in the distance. It was huge.
"That's the ship we're boarding?" I asked, utterly shocked. I heard Kanan laugh a little.
"Yeah, that's the ship." He confirmed.
"Oh, God help us all." I sighed. It was Ezra's turn to laugh. "Can we just get this over with?" I asked.
"Yeah, let's get going." Kanan replied with a nod. He clicked on a button. "Hera, we're ready to go." He said.
"Okay, Specters One, Five, Six, and Seven." She replied. "You are good to go. Let's blow this ship up." The Phantom detached from the Ghost and they zoomed towards the Star Destroyer.

"Sir, there is a ship incoming." An Imperial officer said to the Admiral. "It's a rebel ship! It must be preparing to attack!"
"Prepare our fighters, take the ship down." The Admiral ordered. The officer nodded.
"Yes, Sir." He replied.

Hera smirked when she saw the TIE fighters incoming. "Prepare for a good fight, you guys." She said to Chopper and Zeb. "This is gonna be a fun one."
They advanced at the fighters. Their distraction was working.

Ingrid's POV
We got off of the ship and boarded the Star Destroyer very quietly. I was doing my best to keep out of sight. I followed Kanan and the others through the ship and towards what I assumed was the engine room.
"Hey, isn't the engine room going to be bustling with troopers?" I asked as we made our way through the ship.
"Yeah, but we'll be fine." Ezra replied, waving me off.
"But what if-?" I began.
"We'll be fine, don't worry. Have more trust in us." Kanan added. "We know what we're doing."
"Okay, okay, sorry." I replied, holding my arms up in surrender. "Lead the way, then."
We turned yet another corner and rushed down yet another long corridor. But, we finally made it to the engine room. "Okay, Ezra and I will cause a distraction and then you and Ingrid will go in and rig the place to blow." Kanan said to Sabine, who nodded in turn.
"Sounds good." She replied. Kanan and Ezra looked at each other and nodded. They entered the engine room.
"Hey, you're not allowed in here." We heard one trooper say.
"Oh, sorry about that, we must be lost." Kanan replied. We then heard a blaster. Of course their distraction meant start a huge fight. I sighed and followed Sabine into the room. I blasted some troopers out of our way and Sabine made it to the control panel.
She began to set chargers on the panel and smirked when her handy work was finished. "Okay, we're ready."
"Nice, let's get out of here, then." I replied. We both began to run out of the room. "Kanan, come on!" I called. He nodded and he and Ezra followed me.
We all began to run back towards the Ghost. That's when Kanan and Ezra began to slow down. Sabine and I also stopped and turned around. "Ezra? Kanan? What's wrong?" Sabine asked.
"D-do you feel that?" Ezra asked, ignoring her.
"Yes. I feel it." Kanan replied. They both turned around and when I saw what-- who-- they were looking at, I froze. He was a tall man with a gray face and red lines. He wore all black and gray. His eyes were yellow, and he had an evil smirk plastered across his face. I saw that he had pointy teeth.
"You." Ezra gaped.
"Yes, me." The man smirked. "Greetings, Ezra Bridger and Kanan Jerrus." He said. He glanced back at Sabine and I. "And friends, how exciting. I am the Inquisitor."
"We know who you are." Kanan scowled and ignited his lightsaber. The blue blade extended to full length. Was Kanan going to fight this guy? Ezra did the same with his lightsaber. Oh, and apparently the Inquisitor has a lightsaber too.
But it wasn't blue, like Kanan's and Ezra's. It was red. The color of evil.
"I see you are prepared to fight." He smirked. "Prepare to die, young Jedi." He looked at Ezra as he said this.
"You aren't going to kill me." Ezra replied. "I'm going to beat you."
"Yes, I can't wait to see that." The Inquisitor replied.
"Specter Five, Specter Seven get back to the ship." Kanan ordered.
"We aren't going to leave you here." Sabine replied.
"This isn't a time to argue! Go, now!" Kanan yelled.
"Do what your friend says, or you'll be killed as well." The Inquisitor warned.
"We won't leave!" I replied. The Inquisitor looked at me and smiled, which made me feel extremely uncomfortable.
"You have heart, young one..." He began. "Have you ever considered making something of yourself, join the Empire."
"I'll never join you and the rest of the Imperial scum!" I spat.
"So be it." He replied and held up his lightsaber. Not only was it double-bladed, but it also spun around.
"Run!" Kanan ordered. "Go!" We all did as he said and turned and ran towards the Phantom. "Sabine, I really hope your 'art' is ready!"
"Oh, it is!" Sabine replied. "Trust me, it's gonna be great!"
We finally made it back to the Phantom and boarded. The second we were all on, Kanan closed the door and took off. "Sabine, now!" He ordered.
"We need to put some distance between us and that destroyer!" She exclaimed.
"He's going to get off the ship and he'll come after us again if you don't destroy it now!" Ezra agreed.
"There won't be an 'us' to come after if we don't wait!" Sabine snapped. "I'm sorry, but I can't, just get back to the Ghost, then I'll press the button." Kanan scowled, but I could tell that he knew she was right.
He sighed. "Fine. You're right." He replied. "Let's get back." He flew the Phantom back to the Ghost and docked the ship. "Hera, we're good to go, but first, let's watch the show, shall we?" Kanan asked her.
"Sounds good." She laughed over coms. Sabine smiled and pressed the button. We all watched as the Star Destroyer exploded.
"There goes the Empire's Mass Shadow Generator supply." I smiled a bit.
"Yeah, now let's get out of here. Hera?" Kanan asked.
"Already on it." She replied.
The last thing I saw before we jumped into hyperspace was a small ship flying from the wreckage.
