Rescue
Ingrid's POV
I gasped for breath. I scratched against my throat, begging for air, but the Inquisitor didn't release me from his grip. My eyelids became heavy, the world around me began to blur, and just when I thought that I was going to pass out, I hit the floor.
I coughed, trying to breathe normally. My vision slowly returned, but I was very lightheaded. My head was throbbing. Why wouldn't he just kill me?
Because he's the Inquisitor, and he wanted to watch me suffer. He used the Force to lift me off of the ground and bring me close to him.
"All you have to do is pledge your allegiance to the Empire, and then all of your pain and suffering will come to an end." He snarled. Even though I was weak from coughing, I managed to speak.
"I-I will n-never join the Empire."
He scowled. "Very well." He threw me against the wall. My head was spinning. I wanted to vomit. "If you will not join willingly, then I shall make you join."
The Inquisitor lifted his hand to my head and used the Force to torture my mind. I started to scream. I couldn't help it. "G-get out of m-my head!" I screamed at him. He merely smirked, knowing that this was getting to me.
After a while, he stopped, probably taking a break. I took deep breaths, trying to calm myself down. The only thing that was keeping me going was knowing that Ezra was safe from the Empire. Hopefully, by now he had found a way out of this place.
But now I needed to escape. I looked around the room, trying to see if there was anything in here that I could use to aid myself in my escape.
The Inquisitor opened the door and two troopers came in. "You two, take her to the cruciatus chamber." He ordered. "I need to try another tactic. I shall meet you there." He strolled out of the cell, leaving me with the two troopers.
They each grabbed one of my arms and lifted me off of the cold floor and dragged me out of the cell. I kept stumbling over my own feet, but I saw this as my chance to escape. I looked down and realized that these were the two troopers that had been guarding Ezra because one of them still had his lightsaber clipped to his belt!
I felt a rush of relief flow through me. This was my chance! The only problem was that I didn't know how to actually use a lightsaber. But it couldn't be too hard, right?
How was I going to grab it? I couldn't exactly move my arms...
But couldn't Kanan and Ezra use the Force to bring things to them? Maybe I could do that if I concentrated hard enough...
I looked at Ezra's lightsaber and slightly held my hand outwards towards it. I kept trying to bring it to me, but nothing was happening. I sighed. Maybe I just couldn't use the Force.
We rounded a corner and I saw the Inquisitor standing in front of a door at the end of the hallway. I didn't have much time.
Okay, I can do this, I can do this.
I closed my eyes and concentrated. I cleared my mind of all things except for Ezra's lightsaber. I needed it to come to me so that I could escape.
I felt something. I didn't dare break my concentration now. But when I knew that the lightsaber was going to come, I opened my eyes. We were only a few yards away from the Inquisitor.
That's when I felt the lightsaber in my hand. I ignited it and used it to cut off the two trooper's arms. A bit dark, I realize, but I wasn't about to let the Inquisitor get me.
I heard him ignite his lightsaber as well, but I had already turned and started to run down the halls.
I didn't look back, I just kept running as fast as my legs would allow me. How was I going to get out of here?! I didn't even know where here was!
I assumed I was on a ship, probably a star destroyer. Where was Ezra? Had he gotten out? I hoped so.
I was suddenly thrown against the wall and Ezra's lightsaber was knocked out of my hands. I winced and put a hand to my forehead, trying to stop my head from spinning. I blinked a few times, which kind of helped, but then I heard the soft buzzing of a lightsaber and when I opened my eyes, I realized that the Inquisitor's red blade was very close to my face.
"Surrender now." He snarled. I had no choice, Ezra's lightsaber was across the room and I didn't think that I would be able to retrieve it a second time.
But apparently I wouldn't have to, because when I looked over to where I dropped it, it wasn't there anymore. I furrowed my eyebrows, confused.
And that's when I heard someone ignite a lightsaber.
"Hey, buddy, let her go!"
Ezra!
The Inquisitor turned around and glared at Ezra. He was with Kanan! They had found each other and then come for me!
The Inquisitor used the Force to start choking me again. I was lifted off of my feet, gasping for air. "Stop it!" Ezra cried.
That's when Kanan charged at the Inquisitor and he was forced to let me fall to the ground. Kanan and the Inquisitor's lightsabers clashed. Ezra rushed over to me. "Are you okay?" He asked.
I sat up, coughing and nodding at the same time. "I-" I coughed. "I'm fine." He helped me to my feet, but I stumbled backwards a bit and he caught me.
"Whoa, take it easy," Ezra told me. "We're gonna get you out of here."
"Ezra!" Kanan called over the commotion. "Take Ingrid and get her to the hangar!"
"Not without you!" Ezra replied.
"Don't argue, I'm right behind you!" Kanan said. Ezra sighed.
"Come on." He told me. We began to rush down the halls of the star destroyer. As promised, Kanan was right behind us-- but so was the Inquisitor.
"You shouldn't have come back for me! Now we may all get captured!" I said, feeling rather guilty about this whole rescue attempt.
"You're our friend, friends look after each other." Ezra replied.
There was a patrol of stormtroopers coming our way. Ezra held his lightsaber up like a blaster and fired at them, he stunned them. We ran passed them and towards the hangar.
The Inquisitor was hot on our trail, but we were ahead of him. We finally got to the hangar. "Specter 2, where are you? We're here!" Kanan shouted into his com.
"I'm on my way, Specter 1," I heard Hera's staticky reply.
"Good, be ready to make a quick getaway!" Kanan said.
The Ghost suddenly came flying into the hangar, Hera was in the cockpit with a determined expression on her face. She began to fire the front guns at the TIE fighters, stormtroopers and the Inquisitor.
The cargo ramp was suddenly opened and I saw Sabine and Zeb standing on it, firing their weapons at the troopers. We climbed on to the Ghost.
The Inquisitor hurled his lightsaber at us, but Kanan deflected it using his own shimmering blue blade and it went flying back towards the Inquisitor.
Sabine closed the ramp and I let out a sigh of relief. "Hera, get us out of here!" Zeb called.
"Jumping to light speed... now!" She replied. We felt a small push, we were now at light speed, the Empire couldn't find us.
"Yeah, we did it!" Sabine cheered. Everyone began to head up towards the cockpit where we would greet Hera and Chopper.
"That was a close one," Hera said. "But we did it."
"We always do." Kanan shrugged. "When have we ever lost?" Hera rolled her eyes and smiled.
"Never, Love." She replied.
Everyone began to laugh and talk to each other. I could barely hear or see any of them anymore. My vision was getting blurry and I heard a ringing sound. I squeezed my eyes shut and then opened them, but nothing had changed.
I looked up and saw Ezra looking at me. Well, his face was blurred but I could just vaguely make out what he was saying.
My name.
"I...ngr...id?" He asked very slowly. I saw black spots and then the world began to spin very rapidly.
I was on the floor in seconds, and the last thing I remember seeing was the crew rushing to see if I was alright.
And then the world faded to an inky darkness that I couldn't climb out of.
[Well, there's that chapter. That was fun for me to write, actually.
Guys, Ingrid used the Force!!!! Exciting, is it not?
