Hoxxes IV, 3rd POV

"I TOLD YOU WE SHOULD HAVE WENT LEFT!"

"SHUT UP REX!"

"Shut ya yapping, we got a job to do ya dunderheads! Or so help me, I will feet you to the Glyphids myself!"

"Sighs, I wish I hand an Oily Oaf right about now."

On Hoxxes IV, a team deep within the planet's surface, a vast mining operation was well underway. The sound of drills echoes through the cavern as two reinforced power drills tear into the rock face, while a dwarf is busy setting up automated turrets to keep the area secure. Another is perched on a high ledge, holding a grappling hook weapon, scanning the area for any signs of danger.

"How're we looking, team," a heavy voice asked,"we're deep enough now that we should be hitting something valuable soon."

This was Thrak Grimforge, a dwarf in heavy black and grey armor, wielding a minigun on his side as he scenes the cavern they were in. He worked for the Deep Rock Galactic Mining Company, Gunner class miner, and leading a team of four. The team consists of 4 dwarfs in total, with 4 Classes and this was just an average day from them

There was Thrak Grimforge, he was a Gunner Class. He wielded the "Lead Storm Powered" minigun, the "Bulldog" Heavy Revolver, and for equipment he had a Zipline launcher and Shield Generator. He wore the "Barracuda" Armor Rig, which was outfitted with extra ammo and grenade packs

Next was the Driller, he was Brok Grimforge, Thraks brother. He wielded the CRSPR Flamethrower, the Subata 120 pistol and the standard issued Reinforced Power Drills given to all Drillers. He wore the "Mole" Armor Rig, with a cool mesh suit to cool him when he's using the Drills, and lastly he had High Explosive Grenades for extra fire power

The Scout Kael Voss, he moved around to scout for minerals to mine and obtained. He used the Deepcore GK2 assault rifle, a jury-rigged double barreled shotgun or Boomstick, and for his Special tool was a Grappling Hook and a Flare Gun to light areas. He had the "Fox" Armor Rig, which was light for him to move around but still gave him good protection, also to store some Inhibitor-Field Generator

And finally was Rex Ironclad, the Engineer class, and boy it fits him to a T. He had the Warthog Auto 210, a automatic shotgun, a Deepcore 40mm PLG and a Platform gun, which fires expandable foam to make platforms. He cares around LMG Gun Platforms, which were turrets that help in defending and fortifying positions in tight situations. He wore the "Owl" Armor rig, which gave him protection and lets him carry the LMG platforms and some Plasma Bursters

"This rock is tough, but I'm almost through," Brok grunted as he works the drills,"give me another minute."

"No movement yet, but this place gives me the creeps," Kael said from his vantage point,"feels like we're being watched."

"Creepy or not, we're here for the big score," Rex said adjusting a turret,"the scans showed something down here worth the effort."

As Brok continues to drill, a faint glow starts to emanate from the rock face, which means he was close to something. The drills begin to slow as they encounter a denser material, which made the reinforced steel heat up a bit. He stopped as he stepped back as he removed the googles and to get a clearer view of the glowing material, wiping the sweat off

"Whoa...Thrak, you might want to take a look at this," Brok said

Thrak moves closer, his heavy boots crunching on the loose gravel beneath him making sure Glyphids didn't pop up. He peers at the rock face where Brok is working. The glow is now more pronounced, with strange, shifting colors swirling beneath the surface of the rock.

"What in the...," Thrak said,"that doesn't look like any ore I've ever seen.

"What do you want to do," Brok asked

"Keep at it for now, but carefully, we do not know what were digging up."

Brok nods, adjusting the drills to a lower power setting to avoid damaging whatever is behind the rock. As he drills, the glow intensifies, and the rock begins to crack and crumble away, revealing a large, crystalline structure embedded deep within the rock. It's unlike anything the team has ever encountered. This soon caused their scanners to go crazy and the screens were fuzzy, this made them converge on the stone

"That...is definitely not on the scanner," Kael said, swinging down to join the others,"you sure we should be messing with it?"

"Whatever it is, it's got some kind of energy signature," Rex said, examining the structure,"could be worth a fortune...or it could blow us to bits."

Thrak steps forward, his curiosity piqued when something like this happens. He reaches out and touches the surface of the crystal with his armored glove, and rubbed it to feel smooth and untouched surface. The moment he makes contact, the crystal pulses with a powerful energy, sending a shockwave through the cavern, the ground trembles, and a low hum fills the air.

"Everybody back," Thrak yelled,"this thing is reacting to us!"

The team steps back, weapons ready, as the crystal begins to crack open, releasing a brilliant light. The hum intensifies, and the air around them starts to warp and distort, as if reality itself is bending. Thrak looks at the crystal, the glow becoming a deep blue as it started to crack a bit.

"Uh Thrak, I think we just woke something up," Kael said as he aimed his weapon

Suddenly, the crystal shatters, and a swirling vortex of energy erupts from it, pulling everything nearby towards it with an immense gravitational force. The team struggles to hold their ground, but the pull is too strong. Brok and Thrak slammed their main weapons on the floor, the blade attachments they had to secure them, Red held onto one of his turrets and Kael latched onto a rock

"Hold on, don't let go", Thrak yelled to them

"Thrak, what is this thing," Brok yelled at his brother

"It's some kind of wormhole," Rex shouted, while trying to stabilize himself,"we need to—!"

Before Rex can finish, the vortex engulfs the entire team, dragging them into the swirling mass of light and energy. The scene becomes a blur of color and sound as the team is hurled through the wormhole, their surroundings stretching and distorting in impossible ways. Scenes, visions of sorts were spinning around them as they were forced in

"Stick together, don't let go," Thrak shouted over the chaos

"WHAT THE HELL DOES IT LOOK LIKE WE'RE DOING," Kael yelled

The journey through the wormhole feels like an eternity, but it's over in an instant. The team is violently expelled from the vortex, landing hard on a cold, rocky surface. The once-active wormhole collapses behind them, leaving them stranded in an entirely new environment. Thrak opened his eyes, blinded for a moment as he rubbed his eyes and sat up

"Is everyone...okay," Thrak asked, groaning as he stands up,

The team slowly regains their senses, looking around at their new surroundings. They are no longer in the familiar caves of the planet they were mining. Instead, they find themselves in a dense, sun filled forest, with the air filled with the sound of distant growls and unfamiliar creatures.

"This...is not where I suspected us to end up," Kael stated, climbing to his feet

"How inspiring," Rex said, checking his equipment,"all systems are still functional, but this place...it's not on any of our charts."

"Where the hell are we," Brok asked, looking around then to his brother,"Thrak?"

Thrak scans the area, recognizing the immediate danger they are in. The forest is alive with movement, and the sense of being watched returns, stronger than ever. Plus the smell of the air told him all he needed to know, there were predators around and they have to move fast. He grabbed his minigun and turned to the others, making them grab their gear

"I don't know...but we need to move," Thrak said,"we'll figure out where we are later. For now, we need to find a safe place to regroup."

The team moves cautiously through the dense forest, their footsteps muffled by the thick undergrowth. The light from the wormhole's collapse has long since faded, leaving them in near-total darkness, save for the faint glow of their equipment. They noticed that the sky was clearer, the air was clean and the forest was so green they couldn't believe some place had this much life

They were use to planets that were either dead, dying or so barren they haven't had inhabitants since ever. Thrak hummed as he stayed behind Kael, who was a few yards ahead of them, making sure the path was cleared. Brok and Red took up the rear, making sure nothing came up from behind them.

"Stay close," Thrak said in a whisper,"we don't know what's out here, but we're not taking any chances."

"This place is...wrong," Kael said as he was scanning the area,"I can feel it in my gut. Something's watching us."

"Let's hope it's just our imaginations," Rex said as he checked his shotgun,"but I've got a bad feeling about this."

The team continues forward, their senses on high alert, something they've done ever since working with the Deep Rock Galactic company. Suddenly, Kael freezes, raising a hand to signal the others to stop. He crouches low, peering into the darkness ahead, seeing moving objects, with hints of red and white going all around.

"Something's up ahead...moving fast," Kael said, whispering so low it barely audible

"Everyone get ready," Thrak spoke quietly,"Rex, set up a turret. Brok, stay close to Kael."

As Rex quickly deploys a turret, the faint sounds of growling and rustling leaves become more distinct. The team takes defensive positions, weapons ready, as the noise grows louder.

"Whatever it is, it's coming right for us," Brok said as he readied his drills

The undergrowth ahead suddenly parts, and a pack of large, wolf-like monsters with glowing red eyes and bone-like armor, emerge from the shadows, their growls filling the air. The lead monster, which was two times large then the rest, lets out a chilling howl, signaling the attack and they charged at the dwarfs.

"Open fire," Thrak yelled

The team unleashes a barrage of firepower upon the attacking monsters, ripping into them. Thrak's Minigun roars to life, spraying bullets into the charging monster, and every time they died they turned to smoke. Rex's turret locks onto targets, firing precision shots, while Kael darts around the perimeter, using his assault rifle to take down any creature that gets too close.

"These things are tough," he yelled,"aim for the head or chest, anything else just slows them down!"

The monsters were relentless, their sheer numbers threatening to overwhelm the team. Despite the heavy firepower, more of these wolf like monsters kept emerging from the shadows, drawn by the sounds of battle. Brok yelled as he used his flamethrower to burn a good amount of them, as his brother covered his back with his minigun

"There's too many of them, we need to fall back," Rex yelled over the gunfire

"We hold our ground until we can break through," Thrak yelled as he gritted his teeth, then turned to his brother,"Brok, get ready to punch us a way out of here!"

Brok nods and revs up his drills, preparing to cut through the thickest part of the forest to create an escape route. The team begins to back up slowly, forming a defensive line as they retreat. They used their explosive materials to take the number if the monsters down, slowly marching to the forest to get away from the overwhelming forces

"We've got to move now, or we're going to be overrun," Kael yelled as he glanced around them

"Brok do it," Thrak yelled,"get us out of here!"

Brok lunges forward, using his drills to tear through the thick trees and undergrowth, creating a path for the team. The others follow closely, firing at the Grimm to keep them at bay. As they break through the dense foliage, they find themselves on the edge of a cliff overlooking a vast valley. The Grimm are still in pursuit, but the team has a few moments to catch their breath.

"What are these things," Rex asked the others,"they're like nothing I've ever seen before."

"They're not stopping...they're like wild animals, but worse," Kael said as he panted, looking at the monsters

"We don't know what they are, but we need to keep moving," Thrak said looking out over the valley,"if this is what we're dealing with, we're in for a hell of a fight."

The monsters begin to close in again, their glowing red eyes piercing the darkness. Thrak takes a deep breath, then turns to his team, seeing Brok reload his flamethrower, Kael reloading his rifle as he double checked his grapple hook and Rex firing more shotgun shells at the monsters

"This isn't over yet, we've got to find somewhere safe to regroup," Thrak said,"then figure out what we're up against and where the hell we are. Come on, let's move."

The team quickly descends the cliffside, using ropes and grappling hooks to make their way down. The monsters were relentless, following them down the cliff, but the team manages to stay ahead with their gear. As they reach the bottom, they spot a cave entrance not far from the base of the cliff.

Thrak signals for the team to head for the cave, hoping it will provide some temporary shelter. He stood at the entrance and laid down covering fire with his minigun, as Brok helped make a flaming wall to cover the entrance, and making the monsters stay back from attacking them. Soon they ran in, all panting and breathing heavy as Thrak reloaded his minigun, then looked at the others as Brok cracked his back

"Let's hope this place is empty," Brok said

"We'll find out soon enough, right now we need to set up defenses," Thrak said,"we'll hold up here and figure out our next move."

The team quickly sets up their defenses inside the cave, Rex setting up turrets at the entrance, with Kael keeping watch for any signs of the Grimm. Brok placed some charges around the entrance, and Thrak checking the back of the cave, scanning to see if they scan get out, but its looking like they're have to dig their way out. Good, they were the best at digging their way outta shit

"We need a plan, and fast," Rex said,"we can't keep running from these things."

"His right, if we keep running we'll lose supplies and ammo," Kael said

"Agreed, we need to find out where we are and what those creatures are," Thrak said,"we're not leaving this cave until we have a strategy."

As the team settles in, the growls of the Grimm echo from outside the cave, but they don't approach, seemingly hesitant to enter the confined space.

"Looks like they're not too keen on tight spaces," Kael said

"Shit, Brok start digging now," Thrak ordered his brother,"if we can't get out in the front, we'll make our own way out, the Miner way."

"Hahaha, I like the sound of that," Brok said as he revved his drills,"cover my back, Thrak, take the detonator."

Thrak nodded as he grabbed it and the three took defensive positions as Brok began drilling into the wall, chipping at the rock wall at a steady pace. Soon the monsters came rushing into the cave, the three laying down fire on them. The monsters were mowed down, soon turning in black dust, letting the ones behind them get closer to the group

Thrak set the charges off, blowing the cave entrance and sealing them in, thus entrapping them. But the dwarfs were user to this, hell it was how they lived and slept, so they had this handled. They soon followed Brok, who made good progress in drilling into the cave, soon all four were walking. Thrak looked at his team and the way they came, hoping the monsters didn't follow them

"Strange portal, new land and monsters," he said as he huffed,"wonder what else this place has to spawn for us."
