Chapter 13 - Own Choices

In Canada...

Awa painfully opened her eyes coming out of this unconsciousness where she had fallen. Despite the fact that her headaches and visions of chaos had ceased to torment her, she still did not feel in full possession of her strength.

Looking around vaguely, she noticed that she was lying on a bed, in a bedroom she recognized as Emily's. A brief memory came back to Awa in this room, when she had appeared to Emily in the mirror to scare her, to test her and see if she would be worthy of being Mr. Lordi's chosen one.

_ "Awa ..."

Turning her head, she saw the cyborg Magnum, standing by the bed and looking at her with his neutral gaze.

_ "Magnum? How long did I stayed unconscious?" she asked, rubbing her head and sitting up in bed a little.

_"Three hours." he replied in his cybernetic voice. "I managed to stabilize you, but you should keep resting. This thing, whatever it is, took a lot of your strength."

Awa understood and trusted Magnum. She then noticed Ox, in a corner of the room, sitting and leaning against a wall and appearing asleep.

_ "Ox was very worried about you and stayed to watch over you the whole time, but the recent fights and all the beatings he suffered made him very tired and he fell asleep in the end." Magnum explained.

Awa smiles and blushes softly as she looks at Ox. Magnum decided to leave her alone and left the room, closing the door behind him. Awa decided to get up from the bed, having enough strength to be able to walk and walked over to Ox. She looked at him for a few moments, finding him rather adorable when he was asleep and snoring loudly.

The pain of the betrayal of her ancient love, John Heart, was still too present in her heart despite the years she felt, not yet quite ready to return to another's arms. Although she had to admit that she was very touched by Ox's attention and words to her, and admitted that she, too, had felt a little something for him ... She who had once said that she could never find love again ... But after all, maybe she was wrong?

Tenderly, she came to put a kiss on the minotaur's forehead, but was careful not to wake him, wanting to let him rest, he deserved it.

_ "Thank you, my noble hero ..." she said softly with a smile.

Meanwhile, in the living room of the house, Amen and Kita had stayed to continuously follow the information broadcast on television, and continuing to show the immeasurable madness that was gradually beginning to take hold of the world. Other prisms, three others in total, had appeared in Japan, Africa and Australia, and always near densely populated areas. A polar climate seemed to fall everywhere and spread around the prisms, as did the terrifying decrease in light, whether natural or artificial. The number of fatalities had increased further, and it would not stop there.

_ "I wonder ... if the same thing is currently happening in our world, in Lapland?" Amen said thoughtfully.

_ "I don't know, but if it does, I really hope Kalma, Enary and G-Stealer made it out. We still haven't heard from them and that really worries me." Kita replied.

Amen understood his friend's concerns, nodding softly.

Meanwhile, Emily's parents, since a while ago had stayed in their room, sitting on the big bed and appearing the most worried. The mother had shed tears, and her husband was comforting her, patting her hand. They then saw the vampire Countess Awa, who thanks to her mind had sensed their deep anxiety and distress, had decided to come see them, entering the room through the door as if there was nothing there.

_ "Listen, we appreciate your staying here and keeping us safe, but you don't have to come into our privacy." Emily's father then told her, showing offuscation at what he saw as an intrusion.

_ "I understand and am sorry, sir." Awa replied calmly without animosity. "But contrary to what you think, I was human once, a very long time ago. This fear and sadness that gnaws at your hearts and minds, I know them all too well."

The man was surprised of Awa's revelation that she was human before and found nothing else to add, preferring to sit down next to his wife. Awa also came to sit on the bed and gently took the hands of Emily's crying mother, to comfort her.

_ "You worry about Emily, ma'am, which I understand too. What mother would not be afraid for her children? But I assure you that alongside Mr. Lordi, she does not risk anything. Together, thanks to power and to the love that unites them, they have already been able to overcome huge threats. I have complete confidence in them." Awa said with a compassion that baffled the two humans, coming from a monster, showing that she had not become an ambassador of her people for nothing.

_ "This is precisely why we are so worried about her ..." said Emily's mother, drying her tears. "We love her so much, and to see her thus fight these dangers of supernatural nature for all this time, alongside this lord monster ... We still have difficulty in realizing the role that our daughter must now assume and the way she is following. To be honest, by dint of seeing her rub shoulders with monsters more than humans ... We fear one day that we will no longer recognize her and lose her forever."

Awa listened attentively, understood their feelings and spoke again, always with kindness.

_ "Emily is a strong and independent woman. From the start she made her own choices, and we must respect them, as she always respects those of others. But despite the undying love she feels for Mr. Lordi , she knows that she will always be your daughter. As long as she keeps it in her, in her heart, you will never lose her."

Emily's parents listened in turn, and felt that the countess was sincere in her words, and were, they must have recognized it, touched, and even if they did not say it, thanked her with a more eloquent silence. only words. Awa smiled at them and decided to leave them alone, leaving the room to go back to Emily's.

***********

In Lapland...

As the human world slowly but steadily sank into a general chaotic winter, the monster world, Lapland, was not spared either. In several places, other giant black prisms had appeared in the sky, creating great maelstroms of black clouds above them, causing catastrophic climatic disturbances and waves of murderous madness in the minds of the monsters, pushing them to fight against each other, while having to try to fight the hordes of abominations that arose from the corpses of their dead, infected by the powerful waves emitted by the prisms.

Near the edge of a completely ravaged pine forest, G-Stealer rested for a moment against a large snow-covered boulder, checking to see that it had not been spotted and having to take a few moments of breath. He had a bloody scar on one side of his head from a heavy blow received by one of the abominations. Despite his will to fight and defend his new homeland, G-Stealer had been forced to retreat in the face of the growing number of these things that displayed extraordinary power and resistance. Unfortunately, during the general chaos, he had been separated from his two allies, Kalma and Enary, and hoped that they too had managed to escape.

But another sad spectacle appeared at the sight of the alien monster: In the snowy plain bordering the forest, lay the lifeless bodies of several monsters: two trolls, several goblinoid creatures, three werewolves, but also the corpses of ordinary animals like wolves or reindeer. All had been killed and their corpses dismembered and torn to pieces, their blood and organs strewn in the snow. G-Stealer sighed at the massacre. These abominations born from these prisms made no distinction: they killed absolutely everything in their path, not even for food, the bodies not having been devoured, as if these creatures were doing this for fun, or because they were just born for that: to kill and destroy.

G-Stealer suddenly felt a presence arise behind him. He hardly had time to react when a powerful blow propelled him ten meters. Stunned and groaning in pain from the blow he received, he got back his feet, only to see what had attacked him.

Another abomination, but this time looking far more disturbing and infamous than the others he saw for now. This one looked like a heap of several corpses whose flesh had fused together to form a massive blob of bloody, festering flesh, with multiple eyes, mouths, arms and legs. The thing was making throaty sounds similar to inhuman death rattles and rushed over to G-Stealer to tear him to pieces.

Wounded and not having recovered all his strength, G-Stealer prepared to defend his life dearly, although he strongly doubted that he would be able to win this fight on his own.

One of the clawed arms of the vile blob of flesh was suddenly severed by the arrival of a figure that had emerged from the forest. The creature stepped back, its severed arm spurting out sprays of slimy, stinking blood. G-Stealer, still surprised at the moment, was immediately reassured. It was Enary who had just appeared and saved him, her sword in hand and the blade stained with blood. She too had suffered damages in previous fights, her armor and skin bearing some marks of bumps and scratches, but it seemed to have set her in a rage.

_ "You ... your appearance is an insult even to existence. I will take great pleasure in eliminating you." growled the valkyie as she stood before the enraged abomination, threatening it with her weapon.

As a born warrior and coming from the viking underworld, Helheim, Enary was proud and one of the most combative members of the band. Unfortunately, her very impulsive character and her tendency to quickly underestimate others could be handicaps, even though deep down, she had proven that she was a staunch ally to the cause.

And she hadn't come back alone. Kalma, the zombie biker, was there too, alive, or rather undead in his specific case. The wounds on his body weren't bleeding, and either way, he didn't feel any pain and didn't seem affected by the lack of stamina. Very calmly, as he hardly ever showed his emotions, he joined G-Stealer, who were both joined by Enary afterwards.

_ "I thought my last hour had arrived, I am happy to see you, my friends. What is the situation?" G-Stealer said to the other two, catching some more breath.

_ "Rather badly." Kalma replied in his voice from beyond the grave and without emotion. "The abominations have killed absolutely everything in this area. We're the last three still standing. And bad luck, there's a whole horde chasing us. They'll be there shortly."

In front of the trio, the vile blob with multiple arms and legs had resumed position, ready to attack and growling with its several slobbering mouths with sprawling tongues.

_ "It doesn't matter. Whether they're one or a thousand, I'm going to give them a taste of the wrath of a valkyrie!" Enary said furiously.

Stubborn, as always, but Kalma and G-Stealer had to admit that she was right on one point. These unknown things threatened their world, it was their duty to do everything to stop them.

_ "I tried to contact Magnum to warn him, but my communicator is jammed. No waves are getting through." grogna G-Stealer de frustration.

_ "We just have to hope that the others arrive on time. In the meantime, we'll have to hold on." Kalma answered.

With that, the trio of monsters braced for impact as the blob creature of flesh and tentacles rushed towards them with a beastly howl.
