The land of Elica is a land of danger and magic both in the past and the present. The six gods after creating this paradise chose six noble vessels to carry on their gifts. The light blessed the brave and noble hearts of the lions. The shadow chose the stealth and cunning of the panthers. the fierce and passionate spirit of the Phoenix was blessed with fire. The flexibility of the sea serpent received the water. The sky was given to the Falcons because of their sense of freedom and their refusal to be restrained. Then finally the dragons became the titans of the earth. Each of these gifts came with a strength and a weakness so no gift was stronger than all of the others. However some gods recognized other vessels that they thought deserved gifts as well. So with the help of another god they created a new gift. For example, the gift of ice was given to the wolves for the unwavering loyalty to each other and their refusal to stay one way for they were always changing. Now with each of these gifts came with a human form since that was the preferred form of the gods. Humans were basically the middle ground for ever one. Now whether or not they used that form was up to the vessels. Then there were humans, or the ungifted. They did not receive magic like the vessels because they were created with capability. The power to make their own future. However the gods did not perceive how bad the humans would squander it. The humans did not see there own worth and grew jealous of the gifted. Why were they not granted power? were they not good enough? The humans never received an answer and made their own. As humans developed their technology they kidnapped gifted and worked on them eventually learning how to steal the gifts killing the vessel in the process. The humans cared not of the deaths they caused and continued to murder any gifted they could get their hands on. The wolves at the time had been the most prominent and powerful at the time so the humans left fake evidence and caused the other gifted to turn on the wolves and destroy them. Now with the gifted wounded and weak from the fighting no one could stop the humans from taking over and enslaving the gifted. The most powerful gifted were killed for their power and soon the main blood line was little to none. You see when a human takes a gift they only take the magic. they do not get the original form of the stolen and thus most of the magic is lost since that was the form they were gifted in. The remaining gifted surrendered and we treated as inferiors. Some humans and gifted married and created mixed descendants. Their children only carried on the magic with the same control and power of the humans who killed and took the magic themselves. Any of the gifted that refused to conform to the humans society were taken to be studied on. Now the remaining few live alone in captivity used for sports and games. The biggest one being the tourney of beasts. This game is how the humans choose who will lead them. Six candidates chose a beast as a champion to fight in the tourney. then each champion fights the others to the death and the last one alive wins for their candidate. This is life. Can it change? we will see.
