Danny was worried, Richard usually called him after patrol, or at least texted, and he hadn't done either last night. He texted to ask if he was okay and he hadn't gotten a response, it was morning now and he still hadn't gotten a response. He was about to leave to search for him when his phone went off and he checked it, it was Richard.

'Danny I'm so sorry, last night was crazy and I didn't call or text I'm sorry.'

Danny sighed in relief, he was okay, 'It's okay, but what happened?'

'The thing is, I'm not sure, we got attacked and everything is a blur after that, I freaked out until Bruce told me everything was fine.'

Danny was concerned all over again, something was wrong and he didn't know what, Toxin spoke, 'We need to talk to him again and figure out what is going on.'

Danny agreed, he didn't want to push him before but things seemed to be getting out of hand and he needed to figure out why. Then Richard texted him again, 'By the way the team has a mission tonight, if you want to come I'll be there.'

Danny sighed, as much as he didn't really want to go he needed to talk to Richard and make sure he was okay. For the rest of the day he was just waiting until he was supposed to meet the team for the mission. When it was time for him to head off to see the team he was more than ready to go, he got to the zeta tube quickly and went through.

As Robin got ready to see the team he heard the voice in his head, 'I do not wish to see these people.'

"Well too bad, we're going, and someone I know is going to be there and I want to see him."

'You mean the human you saw before, he is annoying.'

"You don't even know him."

"I know it is annoying when you are with him."

"You're a jerk."

'And you would be dead if it weren't for me, along with the Batman, you're lucky I chose to help.'

"If you want to help let me do what I want to do, I won't try to get rid of you or something if you just let me live my life like I have been."

'I have been.'

"Yeah because making me worry for the safety of the people I care about is letting me live normally."

The voice growled, 'You would tell people about me otherwise.'

"Not everyone is going to hurt you, they could help us figure all of this out."

'I am doing just fine, you're the one that doesn't know what they're doing.'

"Well maybe you're part of the reason for that."

He went through the zeta tube and found the rest of the team already there, the voice was quiet now which was a relief. A couple minutes later Phantom showed up, he didn't look entirely happy to be there, which was not surprising. Robin hugged him almost as soon as he came through which made him seem less annoyed with being there.

The rest of the team aside from Artemis and Batgirl seemed a bit awkward, Phantom still hadn't warmed up to them quite yet. Considering everything that happened none of them could blame him, they hadn't exactly made a good impression. At least he was willing to be around them, though that was only because of Robin, he probably wouldn't if it was just Artemis and Batgirl.

The four talked amongst themselves until Batman showed up, when he did Phantom just glared at him. They weren't on good terms either, the only reason he hadn't punched this man in the face weeks ago was because Robin cared about him. Batman knew it too, which is why he chose to just start the mission briefing rather than say anything to him.

"The League was recently informed about a group that's been smuggling illegal products into Gotham. Apparently they've been smuggling guns, bombs, and even bioweapons into the city, the League will be hitting other shipment locations, we need you to go after this one."

He brought up a map with a red dot indicating where they were supposed to go, Robin's eyes widened a little when he realized it was close to where the fire had been. The voice spoke, 'Investigating a bunch of smugglers, how boring.'

Robin would have said something but he decided against it since there were people around, that wouldn't end well. The team soon went to get ready and after Batman left Phantom stopped him, "Something is up with you, what's going on? And what happened last night when you didn't text me?"

Robin couldn't look him in the eye, because he wanted to tell him what was going on but he didn't want him to think he was crazy. "I don't know, last night Batman and I went to stop a bank robbery and it went really wrong. We both got knocked out and we just woke up back at home, hurt yes but alive. I can't explain it, I'm honestly not sure what to tell you, I'm freaked out and have no idea what's going on or what to do."

Phantom was silent, he grabbed his hand and pulled him closer before hugging him without saying a word. Robin was shocked, he didn't know how to react for a minute, then he hugged him back and held onto him tightly. He felt like he was drowning and if he let go of Phantom he was going to suffocate.

Neither of them needed to say anything, Robin didn't want to say anything, he just wanted to stay with him. He always felt better when he was with him and right now he really needed that, Phantom clearly knew that. They pulled away after several minutes, as much as neither of them wanted to they knew they had a mission to do.

They got ready and once everyone was ready to go they headed out, they were silent as they headed there in the bio-ship. There had been tension between them after what happened but it was even worse with Phantom around. None of them would say a word even though there was nothing stopping them, they were uncomfortable trying.

It felt like an eternity before they got close enough that they could start their mission, Aqualad spoke, "Miss Martian, can you establish a link?"

She nodded and connected all of their minds, however Phantom fought it and she couldn't make one with him. Aqualad looked at Phantom, "We need to establish a link to communicate."

Phantom looked a bit annoyed, "I don't want any of you in my head, if you need me to do something you can either tell me or Robin can signal me."

Aqualad sighed, "Very well, we should go."

They all exited the bio-ship, the only reason they didn't go through the zeta tubes was in case they needed to escape quickly. Since the bio-ship could camouflage it was a better option, though it didn't make their awkward travel easier it was safer. There were guards at the entrances so they snuck in through the skylight, they found somewhere to hide and watched as they moved crates with weapons.

They split up to take down as many people as they could before being found, Robin stayed with Phantom and they silently took out the guards. Robin was confused, "I don't get it, I know there are markets for this stuff but some of this stuff is worth a lot. Why ship it with everything else, why not put it somewhere more secure?"

Phantom shrugged, "It could all be going to the same place."

Robin thought, then Phantom saw his own breath fog up, Robin's didn't fog up, his eyes widened. All of a sudden they heard a loud noise and shouting, "There are heroes here!"

They looked and it was Artemis and Batgirl, they had nowhere to go and several people were already pointing guns at them. Kid Flash ran in and got them both out of there, but that meant their cover was completely blown and they all went to join the fight. Robin was about to join the fight when his body stopped, he tried to move but he couldn't.

He felt himself get cut off from the link and the strange voice spoke, 'Why should we help them? They got themselves into this, why do we need to clean up their mess?'

Robin kept trying to move but it wasn't working, "Because they're my friends, and friends help each other."

'They angered you, they won't speak to you, leave them to their fate.'

"I'm not just going to leave them, yes I'm mad but that doesn't mean I should let them die."

'They are annoying and I hate dealing with all of this bullshit, let them die!'

Robin was about to shout back at him when he could suddenly move his body, he was confused until he saw Phantom. Toxin had taken over and was fighting the goons, Robin was confused as to why that seemed to affect him. Then someone shot Toxin and he looked pissed, Robin felt his body move on its own and he attacked the one that shot him.

Toxin stared in shock, the one that attacked the shooter stood up, the other heroes got ready for a fight. Standing there was a black symbiote with blue spiderwebbed throughout his body, he had the same body type as Toxin but he didn't have the same body language. He suddenly moved and he ran along the wall before jumping onto one of the guards.

He knocked him out and it looked like he was about to bite him when Toxin tackled him and they both hit the floor. The Symbiote screeched at him and Toxin screeched back, the other heroes got ready to help him fight. Then more guards came in and the two symbiotes went to fight them, Toxin knocked two out and the other Symbiote tried to bite the head off someone.

Toxin stopped him but they kept fighting their enemies, but it was getting harder and harder to stop him. Phantom took over and looked at Artemis and Batgirl, "Don't let him kill anyone, I have a plan."

The two nodded and Phantom ran to a metal container, he tried to touch it and he pulled his hand away. He knew this feeling, he felt a searing pain the second he touched it but he could worry about that later. He grabbed onto a metal bar on the door that was helping to lock it, despite the pain he pulled at it, he could hear the metal creaking as Toxin started to screech.

He helped Phantom pull and the heroes looked as he screeched, then the door finally tore off the hinges and they threw it to the side. Toxin disappeared and Phantom stepped back as three people walked out of the container, one looked like a black shadow creature, one had grey skin and flaming blue hair, and the last one was a grey man with no features in a trench coat.

Phantom spoke, "I need you to help fight off your captors."

They nodded without a word and went to help the heroes, the one with blue hair put her arm out and a purple and blue guitar broke out of a box and went to her hand. She joined in by strumming her guitar and visible soundwaves threw the enemies back. The strange Symbiote was going to attack when Toxin took over and blocked his path.

It screeched again and Toxin screeched back, it ran at him and Toxin dodged before punching him in the face. The other heroes wanted to help but they had their own problems to deal with, they had to hope Toxin and Phantom could handle this. Toxin attacked but the other Symbiote managed to get out of the way and tackle him, they hit the ground and Toxin was pinned.

The Symbiote was about to try to bite him when Toxin headbutted him and threw him off, Phantom took over and blasted him in the chest. He screeched and Phantom gritted his teeth, he didn't want to do this but he had no choice. The Symbiote managed to kick him in the chest and he hit the ground, Phantom was trying to catch his breath and the Symbiote attacked.

It stopped just before hitting him and it looked like it was in pain, "Stop fighting me human."

Robin was resisting, the Symbiote screeched and he knew he had to take this shot, "Ember!" The ghost with flaming blue hair looked back at him, "Send a loud riff this way!"

She nodded and turned toward them before strumming her guitar, the Symbiote screeched louder and Phantom covered his ears. He tried not to scream but he felt Toxin writhing as they started to split, the girl soon stopped and Robin was in control again. He fell to the ground unconscious and Phantom quickly went to make sure he was okay.

The heroes had dealt with all the goons and went to see if they were okay, they both looked like they were in bad shape but they were alive. Artemis helped Phantom up and Batgirl picked up Robin before they headed back to the bio-ship, the others looked at each other before following. The three strangers took the chance to leave as quickly as they could, they had someone to talk to.
