*Shadow's POV*
"Got you!" I pulled Rouge up and let her rest as I watched Silver use his powers to catch Sonic.

"Tails!" The echidna ran to the fox and broke the cuff off of him, as he checked for his pulse, then sighed in relief when he found one.

Silver placed Sonic beside me, and I used a chaos spear to break the cuff. I checked for a pulse and was relieved to find one as I pulled Sonic closer and hugged him tightly. I did not want to let go, but I did look up to see Mephiles, Silver, Amy, and Knuckles with us.

"What happened?" I asked as Rouge got closer to me to take a look at Sonics wounds. They were not healing, which was getting me worried.

"Eggman used his robots to catch Blaze and Scourge, we went to help them, but Eggman was already with Knuckles and Amy trying to get the emerald." Silver started explaining.

"Eggman managed to get the emerald for a bit until Mephiles came to help." Rose continued. "Blaze and Scourge are both fine, and we all managed to destroy the robots and take the master emerald away from Eggman. They are both currently taking care of him with G.U.N. agents, they are going to take Eggman to a different facility, somewhere where he won't escape again."

"What happened with Metal?" Knuckles asked, and I pointed in the direction I had left his dismantled body at.

"I destroyed him and took the emerald." I said with a nod at their explanation.

"We figured he had come for you and Sonic, so we came as fast as we could. I am glad we got here on time." Silver sighed in relief.

"Thank you." I couldn't put into words how thankful I was he had managed to catch Sonic.

"We need to take them back to G.U.N. to get checked up by their doctors. They both dont look well." Amy pointed out. "Rouge, your wing." She gasped when she saw her and helped her up.

It wasn't until the next day that Sonic finally woke up. "Shadow...?" Sonic whispered as he slowly opened his eyes and saw me sitting beside him.

I got closer and squeezed his hand a bit tighther at hearing his voice. "I am here." I said softly as I stood up to be able to look at him better.

"I love you." He said as he was able to open his eyes fully and slowly sat up with a low groan. 

"H-huh-?" I took a step back taken by surprise.   

Sonic smiled and laughed quietly. "I didn't think I was going to wake up again." He looked down at his hands thejn back up at me with a light blush across his muzzle. I couldn't help but stare into his beautiful emerald green eyes for a bit longer than usual as my face matched his blush. "All I could think about were what I would be leaving behind and what I didn't do. I didn't tell you I loved you."

"You two are so cute." I looked up when I saw Rouge walking in the room, leaving me no time to answer Sonic. I looked away, trying to calm myself down, and sat back down. "I came to check in on you, see if you were finally awake."

"How's your wing?" Sonic lowered his ears when he saw Rouges wing bandaged up.

"Could be better, but it will heal. Everyone was really worried about you. Tails woke up hours after we got here, but you wouldn't wake up, and your wounds were not healing."

"What?" Sonic looked down at his body.

"They healed only this morning." Rouge said. "Some, at least."

"You lost more energy than we thought." Manic walked in. "Shadow was really worried and wouldn't leave your side even after we told them you'd wake up soon." He ratted me out.

Sonic turned to look at me, then smiled softly. He looked back down at his wounds, which were taking their sweet time to heal now.

What was I going to tell him when we were alone? I cared about him, and I didn't want him getting hurt or even taken away from me. I couldn't leave his side knowing he was injured and he may need me. I was sacred to death at the possibility of him never waking up and thinking about even putting the cuff on myself and throwing myself off the island if anything happened to Sonic.

Was that what love was? I mean, I knew I had strong feelings for him, but I was still new to this. As much as I tried to fake, I knew what I was doing, I really didn't. Sonic was my first relationship, and the more I thought it, the only relationship I ever wanted to have.

"I hope you are feeling better for tonight." Manic said, making both Sonic and I look up at him, confused. "I got some of the guards to bring both Lucy and Spike here. They are both dead worry about you." With that said, he walked out of the room with Rouge, leaving the two of us alone.

Sonic laid back down with a quiet groan, then reached for my hand and smiled at me again. "You dont have to answer me, by the way. Just because I said it doesn't mean you should. Not until you figure out if you feel the same way." I was thankful Sonic sometimes guided me on what I needed to do or how to react when it came to stuff about our relationship. 

"Thank you." I squeezed his hand and leaned closer, then kissed his forehead, making his face turn a light shade of pink yet again. "But." I cleared my throat and glanced down at his lips. "I love you too." I kissed him before he could say anything else. I was still new to these feelings. I didn't want to get teased, and knowing Sonic, he would unless I shut him up.

A/N: I feel like a lot of you forgot that I wanted a happy ending book for once 😂 I didn't kill him off! Can I get an applause for that? I didn't kill of a character! Yay!
