*Shadow's POV*
Metal managed to get the cuff on Sonic and kicked him away from me before I could reach him. Sonic looked weak all of a sudden, like his energy was being drained.

"I thought you said this only prevented you from using your abilities!" Sonic shouted.

"I never got to test them on actual people!" Tails shouted back as he tried to keep himself up by holding onto the root of the tree, Rouge hadnt got to him just yet but she was almost there, if Metal would just let her.

"Hold on, Tails! I am almost there!" Rouge shouted from above but Metal spin dashed her, making her fall and hit a tree. "Shadow! Take care of Metal!"

"I am trying, Bat!" I growled and focused all my attention on Metal.

"Sonic! Stay away from the edge!" Rouge gasped as she stood up, I turned to see my boyfriend being an idiot yet again. He was barely able to keep himself standing yet he was crawling to hellp his best friend. I get it, I would do the same thing if it was Rouge but I couldnt help and worry.

"Rouge!" I snapped. "Help them!" I thew a spear at metal, aiming at his arm but he moved and it hit his shoulder.

"I got you." I heard Sonic said, which I guess because he managed to reach Miles and tried his best to help him up but he wasnt able to until Rouge got there. Sonic looked like he was about to pass out but Miles already was as soon as he was back on the ground.

I kept focusing on my attacks, managed to kicked Metal a few times but he was faster than before or I may be slower than before. I hadnt kept up with the tough training G.U.N. had me at before which could have caused for my speed to decrease.

Rouge came to help me, and she tried as hard as she could until Metal punched her away, slamming her against a tree and breaking one of her wings causing her to loudly cry in pain. I was starting to see red, not able to control my anger anymore when suddenly the ground started to shake.

"T-The Master emerald!" Sonic weakly shouted, his eyes abrely open as his usual brighht azure color was draining down to a gray. Was it killingh him?!

The island suddenly start to descend, causing the ground to shake uncontrollably at first. "Shadow!" I heard a gasp and I turned just in time to see Sonic fall off the edge.

"BLUE!" Rouge jumped after him, catching him in the process but she was slipping off and with her wing the way it was, I knew shed fall.

"Enough of this." I growled and grabbed Metal, dragging him further away from them and using the remaining of my chaos energy to chaos blast him. His metalic body was destroyed, the only thing standing was the chaos emerald which I leaned for and grabbed. When the ground shook one more time and I heard shouting, I dashed back to see what had happened.

Both Rouge and Sonic were hanging off the edge of the island.

*Sonic's POV*
I could feel myself lose grip on the root I held myself up with. I could feel my hand start to slip and shake, I didnt have the energy to keep trying to hold myself up. But I couldnt give up, I had to stay up, I had to stay alive for Shadow. I promised him I would be okay and I had to keep that promise.

Rouge tried as much as she could to hold me up but just when she was about to pull me up, her hand slipped and the ground shook. I lost my grip and was about to fall when she managed to to grab me, holding onto my hand as she held herself up by the root whichw as slowly ripping off the ground. The soil making it slippery for her to stay holding onto it, as she slowly started to lose grip on my hand as well.

"Shadow!" She shouted loudly. Her wing was broken, she would fall to her death if I didnt do something about it. She couldnt keep holding onto me of Shadow would lose the two of us.

I couldnt let that happen to Shadow, if I couldnt save the two of us, at least Rouge could be saved. My life was slowly draining with the cuff anyway. I hope Tails was okay, he had passed out, I could feel the same way he was feeling now, was he still alive? I hope he was. I hope I didnt come back into his life just to end his. Was it my fault?

I hadnt called them. I hadnt told them about Eggman leavimg, Tails had. Tails as supposed to be here alone with Shadow, taking care of this on their own. It wasnt my fault. It wasnt my fault Blaze and Scourge were who knows where. It wasnt my fault Tails got hurt. It wasnt my fault Rouge's wing was broken. Everyone made the decision to be here today. They decided on their own to risk their lives.

Why did I ever leave them? Why didnt I continue my life with them?

Would things have ended differently? Would Shadow and I have been together all these years or would he have never told me?

What about Spike and Lucy? I would have never met them. But chaos, I didnt even tell them Eggman escaped. They will be devastated when they read about my death in the nerspaper or watch the news. I didnt even say goodbye to them.

Was I ever going to tell Shadow I loved him?

"Sonic! Hold on a little longer!" Rouge cried, her hand holding onto mine tighter than before. "Please!" Tears ran down her muzzle.

'Dont cry, Rouge. Your makeup will be ruined.' I couldnt bring myself to talk anymore. I was too weak. 'Help Tails.' I wanted for him to live.

I wanted to tell Shadow I love him. I wanted to be there for the proper reuniun we all deserved. I need to make sure Mephiles and Silver get back to their kid. I wanted to go back to work at that stupid bar. I needed to talk to Spike's wife and tell her he keeps breaking into my house just to steal my beer. I need to go to Lucy's cafe and try every dessert she baked. I needed to be there for my brothers wedding and Sonias too. I needed to be there for everyone.

"Sonic! No!" Shadow cried as I felt my hand finally slip.
