Chapter 27
New Year's Eve came quickly. The small family went out for a walk in the morning.
Harry took pictures of everyone all day long. He loved how carefree Draco could be and he wanted to just capture it.
Draco pulled Harry aside from his family and hugged him tightly. "You know, we don't really do much for today. Especially with a little kid having to sleep early. If you want you can go to the Weasleys. I would accompany you but I would like for you to have fun with them alone."
"Are you sure?" Harry asked carefully.
Draco nodded and placed his arms gracefully around Harry's neck. "I think it'll be good for you and for them to accept me."
Harry looked at him lovingly and pulled Draco closer. Draco instantly felt warmer and leaned in a little. "What are you going to do?"
Draco shrugged, "drink a little, play something with Pansy and Blaise. I'll find things to entertain me."
Harry chuckled softly, "I'll go but I promise I'll be back by midnight so you won't have to stay up."
Draco shook his head, "stay there for as much time as you please. I'll be ok without you for a bit." Draco smirked and grabbed the sides of Harry's coat, "Are you going to kiss me now or are you going to continue drooling over me?"
"I think I like the first option best." Harry said playfully and pulled his boyfriend towards him.
———
Draco helped his boyfriend getting ready. Making sure he took a fine wine that he bought that afternoon with him so that the others would try it.
"Are you sure you don't want to come?" Harry asked hugging his boyfriend goodbye.
Draco kissed him gently, "I'm sure. You enjoy this with your family. I'll see you later."
"I love you."
Draco smiled, "I love you too. Now go, I don't want you to be late or anything like that. Have fun, don't worry about me."
Harry chuckled and kissed Draco again, this time with a little more passion. Draco's cheeks turned pink as he tried to catch up to the unexpected kiss.
Harry gave him a goofy smile as he broke the kiss, "bye."
Harry flooed away leaving Draco's lips tingling for more. He thought back to their recent activities and bit his lip. Draco chuckled and shook his head joining his family in the living room.
Him and his family spent time together saying their highlights of their year.
Draco felt happier than ever. This was his family, broken, with defects and dark past but it was his.
He glanced to his mother, he knew she was trying to act like nothing was wrong but he knew that wasn't true. When he was told about the curse he wanted to break up with Harry to safe his mother but she told him not to. She explained that she wasn't going to live forever anyway and she preferred dying seeing her son happy with someone than die swing her son regretting everything. Draco was thankful for her and they agreed to enjoy the time they had left together.
His mum curled up in the couch with her tea and smiled brightly at what Pansy was saying.
She was happy for everyone. Even with everything going on, she was happy. It was the purest smile Draco had ever seen on his mother.
Teddy decided to draw on Draco's arm which he allowed. Soon it was covered with tiny flowers that covered his dark mark completely. Draco smiled down at Teddy and held out his other arm. Teddy beamed and continued his art work.
Draco grabbed Harry's camera and started taking pictures of his arm and his family together.
The night went on and they joked around and danced and sung.
At 10 Teddy was very tired and Andromeda went to get him to bed. They brought out the firewhiskey and had a drink. Draco's mother and her sister excused themselves so they could go to sleep.
Draco and his friends stayed awake until 11 when the three of te curled up together and feel asleep on the couch.
Draco woke up to the sound of the floo and found Harry standing there. He looked over to the clock and back at Harry, it was only 11:30. "What are you doing back so early?" Draco asked huskily.
Harry blushed, "everyone was with their date. Except Charlie, he had a friend over. I felt left out and lonely. So I came here to spend time together, or sleep which is what you were doing."
Draco smiled and shook his friends awake. "Go to bed."
Pansy nodded, after all she did have a date tomorrow with her partner. Blaise on the other hand was getting tired and needed to rest.
Draco stood up and took Harry's hand and walked to their room together. They changed to their pyjamas and Draco cuddled to Harry whilst Harry petted his hair.
Draco sighed, "Harry I need to tell you something."
"Yeah?"
Draco got up to straddle Harry making his shirt go up and reveal his thighs but Harry only held onto Draco's knees and looked up at him worryingly.
"I should've told you this already but I was scared you'd do your heroic shot and leave me." Draco confessed.
Harry took Draco's hands in his and looked into his boyfriend's eyes. "I promise not to do that. I want you to trust me."
Draco nodded and looked at Harry's chest. "Do you remember when my father was given the dementors kiss?" Harry nodded. "With his last breath, he cursed my mother. It's an old curse and all I know is that the parents used to do when their daughters didn't date or refused to date someone the parents liked." Draco sunk down to Harry's neck and Harry's arms immediately wrapped around the blond.
"She's dying. My mother and I talked about it. I was going to break up with you the moment i found out but my mother told me not to. She said that she would rather die with me being happy than die with me full of regret."
Draco began sobbing on and Harry hugged him tightly kissing the top of his head. "Hey it's ok. Now that you told me we'll find a cure that doesn't involve us breaking up. Hermione could help us if you asked." Harry turned to his side and adjusted Draco next to him. "I love you and I'll help you through this."
"Thank you," Draco said softly.
———
Pansy was finishing her makeup the best afternoon. She had her red dress and black heels on and had a small purse that Hermione let her borrow so she could take extra clothes and shoes so she could sleep with Alex that night.
She was very nervous, she was finally meeting the family of her partner.
Pansy looked at herself one last time and left to Alex's house.
———
When Pansy arrived she was greeted by a woman that looked like Alex. Same nose, hair and eyes.
"Thank goodness you're here." The woman grabbed Pansy arm and Pansy followed without questioning it. They came to a stop in front of a door. "Alex has been there crying his eyes out. Everyone tried to talk to him but he just doesn't want to listen to us. Can you please try?"
Pansy nodded and knocked lightly on the door.
"Go away." Alex said is a raspy voice.
Pansy sighed, "well that's not the way to talk to your girlfriend is it? Come on, I want to see you."
She heard Alex sigh but the door opened. Alex was on his bed and curled up in a ball still sobbing lightly. Pansy frowned and closed the door for privacy.
"What's wrong?" Pansy got on the bed and kicked her heels off.
"My hair."
Pansy touched Alex's shoulder and brought him close for a hug, "Can I see?"
Alex shook his head, "no! You'll think I look ugly."
Pansy kissed the top of his head, "let me have a look, I promise that whatever it is, it'll be fine."
Alex slowly took off his hood and looked up st Pansy. His hair was badly cut to his ears. Pansy ran her hand through his hair and kissed Alex softly. "I can fix it up if you want."
"Please."
Pansy smiled and took his hand guiding him to a chair and turning on the lights. She got some scissors and started styling Alex's hair.
When she was done Alex looked at the mirror and smiled. He stood up and kissed Pansy lovingly. Pansy hummed and kissed back. Her lipstick didn't stain to Alex, she had put on a spell for her makeup to not rub off.
Pansy partes away so she could breathe, "I bought you something."
Alex smiled softly, "You didn't have to."
Pansy shook hear head, "I wanted to. Besides it'll help you." She took out a binder from her purse, "it's magical so it'll fit you perfectly but that doesn't mean you can wear it all the time."
Alex chuckled, "I'll go try it on."
Pansy nodded and sat on the bed as she waited. When Alex came out he was wearing a while button up and a red tie that matched Pansy's dress. "Thank you my beautiful girlfriend."
Pansy blushed lightly, she had never felt more in love in her life.
Alex held out his hand and Pansy gracefully took it and followed him out. Pansy couldn't deny the butterflies she felt at the moment. She was finally going to meet Alex's family. She was afraid of them not liking her or approving of her. She did just help Alex cut his hair without any other adult knowing.
Alex gave her a comforting smile and a small peck on her lips before guiding her back to the dining room. Alex went around the table to introduce Pansy to everyone present and then they took their seats together.
"How did you two meet?" Alex's mum asked.
Pansy blushed at the memory.
Pansy was at the lake wearing a big sweater that she had stolen from Blaise when they were together. She was sobbing softly at the memories they had together. Suddenly she heard some footsteps behind her and someone sat next to her.
"Well it's a lovely day for a beautiful girl to be crying. All I can wonder is how can I make your gorgeous smile come to life?"
Pansy wipes her eyes and looked up at the stranger. The first thing that she saw was the pin pointing at They . "What's that?"
The stranger blushed, "well you see I'm genderfluid and that means sometimes I'm a boy, sometimes I'm a girl, sometimes I'm both and sometimes I'm neither. This helps people gender me correctly but most of the time I go by they."
Pansy nodded, "what's your name stranger?"
"I'm Alex and I know your Pansy, I've seen you around. You are really pretty." Alex smiles softly at Pansy and wiped a tear away from her cheek. "Now, How about I take you for some candy and try to make you smile?" Alex stood up and stuck out their hand for Pansy. Pansy nodded and went with them.
"I was crying over a stupid guy and Alex was bold and sat next to me and comforted me. By the time we were hanging out, I had completely forgotten about my ex and instead was focused on that beautiful soul Alex had."
Alex's little cousins awed at the cute story. "How did you start dating though?"
They were together one night in Alex's room since their roommate was gone for the night to give both of them privacy. Alex and Pansy were playing chess together and eating cookies. When both of them were bored they curled up together on the couch. Pansy couldn't believe the butterflies she felt when they were close together. Suddenly Alex tpuched her cheek and wrapped one arm around her waist pulling her closer. "So I e been thinking," Pansy leaned in to the touch and smiled, "we've been hanging out for a while now and I really like you. I was wondering if you'd like to-"
Before Alex could finish Pansy was kissing the living daylights out of Alex. Alex hummed and hugged Pansy close.
They slept on the couch that night, curled up to each other for warmth. Pansy with her heat under Alex's chin and Alex wrapped at her like a koala. Pansy never slept better in her life. She was warm, protected, and happy.
"We're really happy out Alex found someone like you. Thank you for being so understanding about his identity." Alex's mother smiled brightly at her.
Pansy intertwined her fingers with Alex's and blushed, "it's not that hard to be understanding and respectful in the wizard. We're all different but we still need to respect muggle things and people."
Alex's grandfather scoffed. "She's just confused."
Pansy glared at the man, "you will not say that about my Alex in my presence. He's sweet, kind, caring, incredibly good looking and has a big heart. Those are the things that should be important not his gender."
Alex's grandfather smirked, "ok I like her. Good job Alex."
Pansy furrowed her eyebrows, "what?"
Alex's grandmother chuckled, "oh it was a test dear."
Pansy looked over at Alex who was still blushing. She kissed his cheek softly and smiled. "I like your family."
———
Pansy and Alex were allowed to go to bed together. Pansy changed into comfortable pyjamas and waited for Alex.
Alex came out of the bathroom with his pyjamas on but Pansy frowned noticing he was still wearing the binder. Pansy crosses her arms across her chest, "I want that off now."
"I don't-"
"None of that," Pansy said cutting him mid thought, "take it off. It's bad if you sleep with it. I don't care if you have boobs or not. You're my man and I want you healthy." Pansy stood up and grabbed Alex's hands and Alex looked up from the ground at her. "It doesn't matter to me how you look. You'll always be a good looking person in my eyes. please take it off."
Alex nodded slowly, "just, can you turn off the lights please?"
Pansy smiled, "Yeah, Anything to make you feel comfortable."
Alex took off the binder and relaxed. They both laid down on the bed together. Alex was curled up next to Pansy whilst Pansy hugged his close.
Both were happy and sleepy.
"Goodnight Pans."
"Night Alex."
