Chapter 26
Draco felt giddy when they left to Blaise's Manor. Draco showed teddy his new dragon.
After a whilst, Teddy fell asleep on the sofa they were on and Draco let him sleep.
He got up and went to look for Harry when he heard his laugh along with his friends', mother's and aunt's.
"Wait so he didn't like his room because the shade of green wasn't like my eyes?" Harry knew about that story now, Draco sighed remembering.
He was young and had a massive crush on the hero everyone talked about. Harry Potter. He heard about his eyes and knew the exact shade of green they were. It became his favourite colour before Blaise's prank. His father gave him opportunity to renew his room after he was doing well with his studies. He of chose green, his father complied saying how he should get used to that colour as he was going to be a Slytherin. His mother surprised him with his new room but Draco didn't like it. It wasn't the right colour and when he complained he got a punishment from his father.
Draco winced and picked up his shirt to see the scar that was left from that.
"I dared Draco in fourth year during the ball to not even mention your name. As soon as he saw you he lost it. He went on and on about how hot saint Potter was." Pansy laughed, "if it wasn't for Blaise he would've gone and danced with you. Or hexed you."
Draco bit his lip not knowing if he should interrupt now or not. Then he heard his mother,
"I think my son was very lucky to be paired up with you for the redemption act. It's been two years since I've seen him smile like this. I think his friends can agree that he's never been this happy and carefree or even in love." Draco peeked in and saw his mother smile softly at his boyfriend. "There's going to be many challenges, many people that don't agree, many things that will make it seem like it's impossible but if you two stay together it will get better. Lucius did some horrible things when he went mad, be patient with Draco."
Then Harry nodded, "I know you know I love your son and I want to protect him. I promise I will do the best on my part because I do want this. All of these stories are great! I know he'd get embarrassed but I think it's cute. He also had a positive impact on my life, he helped me get closure with some deaths."
Draco peaked again to see his mother beaming, "thank you."
Harry caught Draco's eyes and blushed, "how much did you hear?"
Draco smirked and walked over to Harry wrapping his arms around him. He kissed his cheek softly, "just enough to know that you now know way too much."
Harry chuckled, "How about my friends tell you embarrassing stories about me?"
"Intriguing but I'll pass, I want to hear them from you." Draco winked at Harry and walked off to make some tea.
Draco gave everyone permission to continue telling Harry stories. Sometimes he would comment how embarrassing some were but Harry always kissed his cheek lovingly.
Soon Teddy even joined the fun, clapping his hands after every story.
Pansy was the first one to leave to shower. Harry and Draco offered to make something to eat and everyone left to do their thing.
"Did you really have
cut-outs of me from The Daily Prophet?" Harry asked as he passed Draco the ingredients.
Draco nodded, "it's in a box back at the manor, I'm lucky father didn't find them." Draco eyes his boyfriend, "tell me a story like that about yourself."
Harry blushed, "well, I have this map. My dad and his friends did it and it shows the exact location of everyone at Hogwarts." Draco nodded listening closely, "I used to use it so I could know where you were and it became a habit of mine. I remember how I spent a lot of time just looking at your name."
Draco smiled softly feeling his heart flutter with Harry's story. He thought back to what his boyfriend had said to his mother. He knew how lucky he was to have Harry but he didn't know that he also helped Harry.
Suddenly two arms wrapped around his waist from behind and a chin rested on his shoulder. "You are really good at this," Harry's voice rang in his ears.
Draco let himself lean back at Harry enjoying being in his arms. "Harry, let's do something fun muggles like after eating."
Harry hummed happily, "I love the sound of that. I'll go prepare something I have in mind and you finish up."
———
Harry apparated him and Draco after eating to a muggle alley. "Where are you taking me?" Draco asked curiously.
"To see a moving picture."
Draco stopped walking and yanked Harry to him. "I already see those all the time in our world. I didn't know muggles had them but what's so special about them?"
Harry chuckled, "it's not like what you've seen, trust me, I think you'll like them. Don't speak loudly If you have questions though." Harry continued guiding his boyfriend to a movie theatre and he went in. "I have the tickets, let's get a snack. Do you want salty or sweet?"
Draco shrugged, "I want to try both if that's okay."
Harry smiled and nodded walking away to buy they're snacks. Draco chose to stay put so he could see around. Then when Harry walked back he stopped in his tracks and said "big D is that you?"
A tall male turned to Harry and smiled making Draco feel a pang of jealousy. "Harry? What are you doing here? I thought I would never see you again."
Draco looked at Harry worryingly and Harry understood. "Draco this is my cousin Dudley. Dudley this is Draco."
Draco glared at Dudley, "you! You made his life hell and I'll make yours just that!"
Harry shook his head, "Dray, he isn't like that anymore."
Dudley nodded, "I wasn't the sharpest tool in the shed, I did apologise." He walked closer to them, "you two are dating right?"
Draco eyed Harry who nodded and said, "if you have a problem with that you have a few seconds to run before I kick your arse."
Dudley widened his eyes, "no, I just wanted to know. I just hoped I could sit with you two, my cancelled last minute, she had a job interview. Never mind I wouldn't want to interrupt."
Draco looked at Harry who shrugged, "Yeah, you can sit with us. This was a last minute thing so I think it won't be a problem for either of us." Draco looked back at Harry who was looking unsure now. Draco offered him a caring smile and knowing it would be a bad idea to show affection in front of everyone.
Harry guided them to their seats, Draco day in the middle so he could ask Harry about anything he wanted to know and so he felt comfortable.
"So Dudley, how are your parents?"
Dudley sighed, "I ran away from them Harry. My girlfriend is like you two. I met her here actually, she was doing a personal investigation. Mum found out last year and told me to choose and I did. I had a job already and now I have a small flat."
"Do you want some help?" Harry asked in a small voice making Draco intertwine their fingers together out of anyone's line of vision.
"No, I want to do this myself. I had everything when I was little, I'd like to know the struggle of having just what I need." Dudley smiled, "I'm glad you found your happiness. You deserve it more than anybody."
Draco smirked at Harry who blushed, "you see Dudley, I've told him that a million times but he just can't stop saving people."
Dudley's eyes went wide, "saving people?!"
Draco nodded, "he's the hero of our world. Gave himself up to death to save everyone, pretty idiotic but that's just the way Harry is."
Dudley looked at Harry, he was confused, amazed and a little scared of his cousin. Before he could say anything the big screen in front of them turned white and the movie started. Draco asked questions to Harry softly about everything. He became fascinated with everything going on. Harry couldn't help but put an arm around his boyfriend who placed his head on his shoulder.
Suddenly Harry felt a tap on his shoulder coming from behind. He groaned and looked back at the lady who tapped his shoulder.
She was looking at his in disgust and disbelief, "there's children here you know."
Dudley looked over at the lady and rolled his eyes. "Well if they can see a man getting killed by another they can handle two men loving each other. Now shut up we're trying to watch a movie."
The lady huffed, grabbed her son and left.
"Bitch." Dudley mumbled before turning back to the movie.
Draco frowned a little but continued to let his head rest on Harry's shoulder.
There was at least someone who supported them.
———
After the movie, the three of them walked out of the cinema. "Thank you Dudley, for that."
Dudley patted Harry on the back, "You're my cousin and I should make up for all those horrible years. I hope I can see you around again. It'd be nice to catch up, seems like we both changed."
"Well," Draco interrupted, "we could go somewhere else and you two can catch up. It's not too late and we'd just be going back to the manor."
Dudley's eyes widened, "Manor?" He mumbled.
Harry and Draco didn't hear. "Well there is a park near by, if you want we could go there."
Dudley nodded, "that's fine. I'll drive."
———
Draco got on the swings after asking Harry about them. Harry pushed Draco softly as Dudley talked about his new life.
"You're still in school right?"
Harry nodded, "my last year. Hopefully my annoying roommate will help me study."
Draco huffed, "not with that attitude."
Dudley chuckled, "what are your plans for when you finish school?"
Harry shrugged, "I haven't decided on what I want to be. Saving our world was what my destiny had for me, I don't know what else I have to do."
Dudley shrugged, "what about you Draco?"
Draco turned to Harry, "What's a muggle healer?"
Harry smiled, "he wants to be a doctor. For kids."
"Why kids?"
"They aren't picky on who helps them," Draco explained. "My family was on the wrong side and adults won't forget that even if I am dating the literal saviour."
The tree continued talking until it was getting darker. Harry and Draco accompanied Dudley to his flat to Make sure he got there safely and went then went back to the manor.
They grabbed a small bite of food and went up to their room.
"Thank you for everything you did today," Harry said as he wrapped his arms around Draco's waist and pulled him close.
Draco chuckled putting his head on Harry's chest, "I think it should be me thanking you."
Harry smiled softly as he ran his fingers through Draco's smooth hair. Draco melted into Harry more, he loved when his boyfriend played with his hair. "Harry, what that woman said,"
Harry nodded, "I know. There's always going to be people that don't agree or understand but we have to just deal with it."
"Are all muggles like that?"
Harry sighed, "no, not all of them. There's people like Dudley who don't care and who would tell others off for being like the lady."
Draco yawned, "let's go to sleep and tomorrow we'll just shower."
"I love you."
Draco kissed Harry's cheek softly, "I love you too."
