Chapter Nine: Addison's True Self Revealed
Malia's Pov
We were all laughing once we were done with practice.
Addison and I both decided that in order to win we'd both have to do the triple tuck, double hip-hop lindy.
Trust me when I say we're nervous for that move, but as long as we work hard, I know we can do it.
""Way to bring it, everybody" Bree grinned.
The others were laughing and walking towards the seats to relax while Addison and I remained on the stage.
"Never in my entire life have I been this tired" I groaned.
Addison softly chuckled and shook her head at me.
She wrapped her arm around my shoulders and pulled me closer to her side. I sighed in content and leaned into her side.
"Don't worry, just a few more minutes and we can head home. Trust me, we're all tired" Addison said.
"I know, I know" I nodded.
All of a sudden Addison and I were surrounded by some sort of blue light and our bodies were slowly disappearing.
What the hell?
"Uh, Addy, what's going on?" I asked.
"I don't know" Addison said, clearly confused like me.
I tried pulling away from Addison but I couldn't, it was like I was stuck.
Addison tried pulling away from me as well but she was in the same state as me, stuck.
Our eyes widen in fear as we looked at each other before turning to the others, hoping that they could help.
"Help!" Addison yelled.
"Help! Guys, help!" I yelled.
But none of them heard us, they were still laughing or talking to each other.
I tried one last attempt to get free, but no luck. I was still stuck to Addison's side.
Before I knew it Addison and I were teleported onto the aliens spaceship.
Finally we were able to move away from each other, causing both of us to sigh in relief, considering we were worried we'd be stuck to each other forever.
"What is going on?" Addison asked, confused.
"I have no idea" I said.
Addison and I got off the platform before deciding to look around, hopefully we can find an exit somewhere.
I made sure I was close to Addison's side the entire time, just in case something were to happen.
I need to protect my best friend/sister at all cost.
We made it to one of the hallways and we were both looking around in awe. This place is pretty cool.
"Whoa" Addison gasped, clearly in awe.
I nodded my head as the two of us continued walking.
We spotted something nearby, it looked like a machine of some sort, maybe the controls.
We continued walking towards it, wanting to get a better look at it.
I stopped walking when I felt a hand on my shoulder, judging by Addison's gasp she felt it too.
We turned around and Addison didn't waste time throwing her arm out, ready to punch the person behind us.
Fortunately it was Zed and he caught Addison's fist before she could hit him.
"Ha, missed m-" Zed started but got cut off.
I punched him in the nose, causing him to stumble back before falling to the ground.
A loud thud was heard when Zed fell to the ground. He started groaning in pain while clutching his nose.
The groaning stopped but Zed looked up at us, still clutching his nose.
"Seriously, what is with you two punching me?" Zed asked, annoyed.
"Sorry, buddy. Reflexes" I nervously said.
Addison nodded before extending her hand for him. Zed took it as she pulled him up from the ground.
"What are you both doing here" Zed asked, confused.
"We got beamed up, what are you doing here?" Addison asked.
"A-spen asked if I could help with my knowledge of Seabrook" Zed said.
This made me and Addison glance at each other before smiling in realization.
"Aw. Poor thing. They're trying to spend alone time with you" I smiled.
"Alone time. Why?" Zed asked, confused.
I raised an eyebrow at him, causing him to look at me before his eyes widen in realization.
"Oh! Oh. Ok, well, I do have universal appeal" Zed grinned, winking.
Addison laughed and shook her head, while I scoffed and rolled my eyes before playfully punching him in the shoulder.
"Hey, be nice. A-spen's new to feelings and human relations" I said.
We hear footsteps and we turned around to see the three aliens running towards us, looking ready to fight.
"Beware, intruders!" A-li yelled.
Zed quickly shoved Addison behind him while I got into a fighting stance, ready to use my locket.
"Addison?" A-spen asked.
"Malia?" A-lan asked.
A-li backed down when she realized it was me and Addison as the three of them slowly walked towards us.
"Mothership beamed you two aboard?" A-spen asked, confused.
Addison and I glanced at each other before nodding our heads, Zed nodding with us.
"We have no choice but to-" A-lan started.
"Welcome you" A-spen smiled.
"Vaporize you" A-li smiled.
This made the three of us look at her in fear. Zed grabbed my arm and pulled me closer to his side.
"A-li" A-lan gasped, shocked by what she said.
"Oh. Right. Welcome you" A-li nodded, flashing us an apologetic smile.
This made Zed, Addison and I sigh in relief as we relaxed just a bit.
"Sorry" A-li said, flashing the three of us an apologetic smile.
I smiled at her and chuckled softly, gently patting her shoulder, a way to tell her that it's alright.
The three of them began walking into the room Addison and I were heading to, so we decided to follow them.
Might as well make ourselves a bit comfortable since we're here.
When we walked into the room Addison and I looked around, clearly in awe.
This ship is awesome, I'd love to live here if I could.
"You have a wonderful home" Addison complimented and I nodded.
"It is a marvelous ship, but it is not our home" A-lan sadly said.
"Our planet was destroyed by environmental blight built up over many years" A-spen explained.
"What? Over years? Didn't anyone try to stop it?" I asked, shocked.
"No. And we lost everything. No one spoke up" A-li explained.
"That would have led to disagreements. We value harmony" A-spen said.
"And we will remain one people in harmony at any cost" A-li smiled, but I can tell her smile was a bit tense.
"You seem angry" Zed chuckled slightly.
"I'm not angry. I'm just in harmony in a super hostile way" A-li chuckled, pushing some of her hair away from her face.
A second passed before she turned to A-spen, a scowl on her face.
"I need to get off this planet" A-li angrily scowled.
A-spen sighed and patted her shoulders, trying to calm her down.
A-li sighed and calmed down a bit. She nodded as A-spen before making her way towards A-lan.
"We need your help. But first-" A-spen started but A-lan cut them off.
"A-spen has great feelings for you" A-lan said, looking at Zed.
This made Zed sigh in realization while Addison and I looked down at the floor, trying our best not to laugh.
This is gonna be a hilarious interaction.
"Ah, right. About that-" Zed started but A-spen cut him off.
"I've been doing research, Zed. Couples can grow apart" A-spen said.
"But we are not a couple" Zed said, trying to get them to understand.
"No, we are not. I am breaking up with you. I am sorry" A-spen said, flashing Zed an apologetic look.
Zed's face fell, clearly taken aback as well as confused.
While I was doing my best not to burst out laughing, Addison was in the same boat as me.
"We do not have tissues aboard, but you can use my sleeve if you must cry" A-spen said.
"What?" Zed asked, confused.
"We'll always have the invasion" A-spen smiled.
Zed said nothing and simply nodded his head. Addison smiled at him and gently patted his arm for comfort.
I couldn't hold it in anymore and burst out laughing.
I found myself leaning against A-lan, burying my face into his shoulder as I continued laughing, my shoulders were shaking because of how hard i'm laughing.
A-lan smiled at me and gently patted my head.
I was too busy laughing that I didn't notice the slight frown on A-li's face before she turned away from us.
When I finally managed to calm down I pulled away from A-lan, but I steadied myself since I almost fell to the ground.
"As you can see, they have mastered the interactions of your species and feels you three can be trusted" A-lan smiled at us.
A-spen nodded their head in agreement before looking at the three of us.
"Years ago, our scout crashed in Seabrook and hid a map to Utopia. A new home for aliens. We came here to find it" A-spen explained.
"Wait, I thought you said you were here for cheer" Zed said, narrowing his eyes at them.
Addison and I glanced at each other before looking back at them, clearly confused and a bit betrayed.
A-spen sighed and shook their head, sending us an apologetic look.
"That was a deception. We were afraid you would not allow us to find the map since it's hidden in the most precious thing in Seabrook" A-spen explained.
Ah, well I guess that makes sense.
It still hurts they lied, but I can understand why they did it.
"So that's why you kept asking about the moonstone" Zed said in realization.
"Yes. But our scans came back negative. It's not there. What else is precious in Seabrook?" A-spen asked.
"I mean, Malia's locket is another precious thing in Seabrook but I doubt the coordinates are hidden there because Malia came to Seabrook a bit after that" Addison explained.
"Yeah. Cheer is something precious in Seabrook but you can't hide coordinates in a routine" I explained.
A-spen sighed in sadness as they nodded their head.
Zed looked at the big machine that was in front of us and tried touching it, but A-li smacked his hand away.
"Do not touch. We're repairing the files of our scout's logs" A-li said.
"With no success" A-lan added.
"I mean, have you guys tried banging it? It works whenever my old TV's on the fritz" Zed asked.
"Banging? That's highly sensitive cosmic tech. You can't just bang it" A-li chuckled.
Zed shrugged and hit the machine, causing mothership to let out an 'ouch' sound.
All of a sudden a picture, or video, of an alien woman appears but their face was hidden behind a mask.
"Oh. That seems to have worked" A-li said, clearly shocked.
She moved a few things around before the video began playing.
"This is Scout Commander 15-09. I proudly report my mission is complete. For centuries, we have been without a home, but I found utopia. The perfect new planet for our people. I hid the coordinates in the most precious thing in Seabrook. You must find the most precious thing in Seabrook. Many decades ago, out of fuel, my scout ship crashed on this planet. I would have died if not for a young humanoid, Eli. He hid me and nursed me to health. But with no ship to take me home, I was forced to hide my true identity" Scout Commander 15-09 explained.
"I know how that feels" Addison nodded.
Zed and I frowned at her as I gently rubbed her arm up and down, trying to comfort her.
"I joined Eli in his school, and I discovered my passion. Cheerleading" Scout Commander 15-09 said.
This made Addison and I gasp in shock while Zed looked taken aback.
"I even created a trophy" Scout Commander 15-09 said.
A picture of the trophy appeared in the video, causing Addison and I to gasp when we realized what it was.
"The Seabrook cup" I gasped.
"But no longer in contact with our people, my hair grew white, and I lost my stardust powers. Though I gained something else. A family. Eli and I fell in love and married, and we named our firstborn A-Mishanta, but we always called her Missy" Scout Commander 15-09 explained.
This made mine and Addison's eyes widen in shock as gasps escaped our lips.
"That's my moms name" Addison said.
Hold on a damn minute...does that mean?
Scout Commander 15-09 removed their mask from their face as a smile appeared on their face.
Oh my god, that's Addison's grandmother. I know what she looks like because Addison always showed me pictures of her.
Addison slowly brought her hand up but then the video cut off.
"The alien scout was your grandma" Zed grinned.
"My grandma. Grandma Angie was an alien?" Addison asked, clearly shocked.
"Hold up, Missy is an alien?" I asked, just as shocked as Addison.
"You're part alien. That's why the ship beamed you up too" A-spen smiled.
"Wait, but why did I get beamed up? I'm not an alien" I asked, confused.
I mean, I wouldn't mind being an alien, but last I checked I grew up in Auradon and nobody there is an alien.
"Maybe because you were with Addison at the time" A-lan smiled at me.
"Or mothership likes you" A-li shrugged.
I hummed at that and nodded my head before turning back to Addison.
"Zed, Malia, I know who I am" Addison grinned in delight.
Addison and Zed quickly hugged each other before they pulled away.
Addison turned to me and I smiled at her before we embraced each other in a hug.
"Congrats, Addy" I softly whispered in her ear.
We pulled away from each other as Addison smiled at me before going to hug A-spen.
Zed and A-lan smiled at each other and patted each others backs.
When Addison and A-spen pulled away from their hug Zed went to go hug A-spen, but A-spen backed away from him.
"We have too much history, Zed" A-spen said.
"Ok" Zed sighed.
I chuckled softly before hugging him, causing him to smile before hugging me back.
We pulled away and saw A-spen grabbing something, it was some sort of lid. They opened it and we saw another luma lens.
"We found this luma lens on the scout ship. It belonged to your grandmother" A-spen said.
They handed Addison the lens, causing her to smile as she looked at it.
Her eyes widen when she felt a surge of power come out of the luma lens, my guess is that some of that power coursed through her body.
"Now do you possess our spark? Can you lift the luma lens?" A-li asked.
Addison tried really hard to concentrate on the luma lens, tried to lift it, but much to our surprise, nothing happened.
Addison swallowed thickly as she glanced at Zed and I before looking back at the aliens.
"Uh, I-I can't" Addison stuttered, clearly confused.
"Our relationship with stardust defines us. Our technology would not work for you" A-spen said.
"You cannot share in our telepathy" A-lan added.
"Nor survive travel with us" A-li said.
"No, no, this is who I am. This is where I belong. It all makes sense" Addison said, desperation in her voice.
"I'm sorry. You do not have our spark. You are not truly one of us" A-spen sadly said.
I opened my mouth to say something, but nothing came out.
I don't know what to say that would make this better because even I don't know why Addison can't lift the luma lens even though she's an alien.
Addison closed her eyes, trying to hold back her tears, before reopening them.
"Right. Yeah. Sorry" Addison sighed.
She turned around and ran away, causing Zed and I glance at each other in worry.
"Addison!" Zed yelled.
"Addy, wait!" I yelled.
I grabbed Zed's arm as we both began running to catch up with her.
