Chapter 70: Bite Me

"What does this have to do with zombies?" you asked as you looked at yourself in the mirror of Jimin's bathroom, carefully fixing the wig of the costume he had got for you.

He wore an orange jumpsuit and from one of his wrists hung a pair of handcuffs shaped like a heart. It reminded you of those they wore for a photoshoot back when they released Butter. You giggled at thought.

"Nothing, I just thought you could wear a pretty dress and still look scary enough" he commented observing how your slinky pink dress covered in fake blood fit you quite nicely.

"You know, you'd make a hot blonde" he commented with a little smirk looking at the reflection in the mirror as he wrapped his arms around your shoulders. You pulled from the unused handcuff and looked at it biting your lip.

"You look great with blonde hair too, it's one of my favorites" you commented and he laughed softly.

"I wish I had known before" he moved his hand to brush his dark hair with his fingers and noticed your interest in the handcuffs. "Do you like those too?" he teased you pointing at them and you let go of them blushing.

"I'll take that as a yes" Jimin whispered in your ear amused and pulled away, unwrapping his arms from around you with a cheeky smile.

"Do you have more fake blood for my face?" you asked feeling like the look wasn't gruesome enough.

"No, but we'll do our make-up when we get there so you can ask them to do whatever you want" your boyfriend commented mysteriously once again.

"Huh...and you are just a convict?" you looked at him feeling like his costume was even simpler.

"Not just any convict, baby" he said stepping closer and looking down at you provokingly. He raised his hand from behind his back and showed you the half mask he had just picked up, "care to strap it on for me?"

"Oh! Now that's better" you said pleased and made him turn around and hold it over his mouth. You pulled from the straps and fitted the metallic buckle snugly behind his head, "too bad for you, no kisses for a while then."

"I can live with that" he turned around looking all too smug, but you looked at him questioningly and he added with a little growl, "as long as I get to eat you later."

"Mr. Park!!" you yelled as if scolding him, pushing him back feeling flustered.

"What?? I have to be in character, what did you think?" he defended himself, but he wasn't very convincing with his dramatic reaction, arms raised at his sides as a real criminal and incontrollable giggling.

"Come on, aegi. Let's go to Lotte" he said casually grabbing your hand and pulling you with him.

"There's zombies at Lotte for Halloween?" you asked still not fully understanding it was not the market you loved so much.

"Are you listening to yourself, pabo?"

"Who do you call pabo, Jiminie pabo*?!" you mocked him and just then your words finally hit you.

"Oh my god. Is it Lotte World's Zombie Island for Horror Halloween??"

"Yes! I didn't think it would be that hard to guess, you've been complaining about never being able to go there for the last two years" Jimin looked at you in disbelief.

"Tell me why I feel attacked. I feel dumb now" you commented only being half-serious.

As you got in the car, you looked over at Jimin, he was only wearing that mask on his face, no hat, no coat, no glasses, nothing to really hide himself. The park would surely be packed for the holiday, someone was bound to recognize him just with eye contact, his hands or looking at him from behind.

"How are we going to go about this, Jimin-ah?" you worried and he glanced at you for a second before looking back ahead as he drove to Jamsil*¹.

"What do you mean, aegi?" Jimin asked not following.

"You're going to be spotted from across the park, I'm sure"

"Oh, that. I don't care, I picked you up at the airport yesterday. Someone might have already seen that, I wouldn't be surprised" he was so nonchalant about it. His careless demeanor was nice in a way, but a little too reckless.

"Do you care?" he asked being genuinely concerned all of a sudden. Did you not feel comfortable being in public with him and potentially having people approach you? You were doing better with the idea of it when you left for Tokyo.

"No, I'm sure it's going to be full of people though and it's you I'm worried about" he smiled to himself and felt the heat creep up on his cheeks. The fact that you'd think of him just made him feel so warm for some reason.

"It's gonna be okay, I'm hoping most people will be respectful" he said in a lower tone, sounding shy and you pressed your lips together in a smile when you noticed the pink tint of his cheeks.

"If anyone gropes you, I'm gonna throw hands. I swear I'll fight them" he burst out laughing at the severity of your tone and the frown he noticed when he briefly glanced and he had to pull over for a minute.

"I mean it!" you protested as he tried to catch his breath.

"I do believe you would, aegi! But that won't be necessary, I promise" he managed to say in between giggles and held his pointer finger up as he took a second to inhale deeply before pulling back and away, "okay, let's go, we have to make the most out of this."

"Relax, Jiminie, it's going to be so much fun!" you assured with a sweet comforting smile that truly made him feel a little better.

You'd been excited the whole way to the park, but when you walked indoors, Jimin could feel you squeeze his hand a little tighter. It was inevitable you'd be nervous about this at some point or another, you'd never been this exposed or in crowded places with him.

As you picked a headband on your first stop, whispering and giggles could be heard already and it made you a little uncomfortable. Were they laughing at you or were they just flustered at the sight of Jimin?

It was hard to tell, but your boyfriend would reassure you stroking your arm or holding your waist for a second whenever it looked like something was bothering you. The expressions of your face were easy enough to read, you couldn't really hide your feelings even if you didn't like talking about them.

"Oh, this one is perfect!" you turned around to show him the dripping bloody knife, you were thrilled by your find, "Carrie gets stabbed in the shoulder, but it should do."

Jimin smiled amused, he was so glad that despite it all you were loving every minute of this. He put on a headband just to tease you, it was not like he really needed one.

"How is this? It's suitable" he asked with a wide smile and you laughed at the sight of his little halo with angel wings. You grabbed a different headband and stood on your toes to replace it. He leaned down slightly for you to place it after taking the other one off.

"There, now that's more like it" you teased him looking at the black horns that matched his hair. He giggled looking at himself on one of the mirrors close by and headed to the register to pay before you went to the make-up shop.

On your way there, a couple girls approached you two and you took a step back shyly. Jimin looked at you over his shoulder with furrowed eyebrows, but you nodded with your head towards them so he wouldn't mind you.

"Jimin oppa, can we take a photo?" they asked bouncing excitedly, but Jimin had to turn them down. ARMY couldn't seem to stop trying despite them not having done that more than a handful of times throughout the years.

"Have fun with your friend!" one of them said and he smirked.

"Can I tell you a secret?" Jimin asked in a whisper and they both nodded eagerly.

"She's my girlfriend" you heard Jimin's soft words and your eyes widened. Had he lost his mind just telling two random teenagers this? What was he thinking?

Surprisingly the two girls walked up to you and stared with big eyes and sweet smiles. It took you off guard that they'd shown an interest in you and you didn't know how you should take it.

"You are so pretty, unnie!" one of them said and you smiled back even more surprised and thanked her.

"Please take care of Jimin oppa!" the other added and you nodded and assured them you would. They were adorable, it looked like they should be around fifteen or sixteen years old at most.

They both waved at you two and walked off, leaving you on your own to keep enjoying your afternoon. Jimin looked at you who still looked lost.

"That was sweet of them, they were really cute about it" he commented and you looked confused. His lips were pressed together and eyebrows raised up as he waited for an answer of some sort when you didn't answer right away.

"Why would you tell them we are together??" you questioned and now he was the one that looked taken aback.

"Why not?" he raised one eyebrow, narrowing his eyes. What was going on with him now? What about your privacy when it came to the relationship? You wouldn't always have it, he might as well enjoy it while he can.

"I-I don't know, I thought you wanted to keep this private for as long as possible. You know, for safety reasons and such" you were not sure of what you were saying, but he had been extra careful when you hit your head so people wouldn't know where you were and now...

"I was tired of them friendzoning me when I'm with you. When has it ever helped anyone?" he replied cheekily using your own words against you again and you looked at him with a fond smile. All the little details, he remembered them all dearly even if it had been so long ago.

"Oh, by the way, I have all your precious photos in my carry-on. I wanted to keep them safe so I packed them to bring with me" you'd never really given them back to him and he stopped insisting when he figured out the silly act was only because you were scared of him having no reason to see you.

You seemed to need them for reassurance and you were very careful with your own stuff, so you wouldn't lose or ruin them. Without saying a word about it, he simply let you keep them. Bringing it up didn't sound like a good idea, he had already told you he'd go to Tokyo and it hadn't been enough.

"Great! I think we need new ones though, don't you think so?" he looked hopeful and so you nodded in agreement. You had to learn to be comfortable with photos eventually and you knew how much they meant to Jimin, so you'd do your best to give him the memories to keep.

He pulled you to a little cute pumpkin patch with tombstones and you both crouched in front of one of them to take a selfie. Loosening the strap of his mask a bit, he pulled it down to his neck for the next picture.

You both giggled feeling silly as you laid down on the dirt of one of the graves. Turning to you, he pretended to kiss your cheek for the selfie and you teased him for being all cheesy. His mischevious laugh didn't make sense until he bit on your cheek just when the shutter went off.

"Aya! Apha,*² Jimin-ah!" you whined rubbing your cheek as you sat down and he simply smirked.

"Bite me, baby" he replied looking way too provocative and you wanted to hate him, but of course you were rattled instead. Park Jimin, why was he so ridiculously alluring!

"Yah! I should be the one who is annoyed here" you complained and he took your hand away from your face gently and blew*³ on your cheek making you shudder, then kissed it softly.

"There, aegi, kissed it better for you" he whispered before pulling away and standing up to fix his mask in place once more. Leaving you there sitting with your flushed face, looking around self-consciously.

"Aegi?" he extended his hand for you to take it when he noticed, a little pout on his face, "no PDA*⁴?"

As he helped you get up, you thought about it. That's not what bothered you, it was not people around you, it was not Jimin either. It was you. It felt weird if people could see you, it's like you didn't deserve it more than anyone else and for some reason you felt guilt.

"It's fine, sorry" you said simply, thinking you just needed to adjust to all these new things. It had been so long since you'd been together, out and about in Seoul.

Jimin decided to get a few scars and wounds on his face and neck at the fantasy make-up shop and a stylist helped add more blood dripping from your neckline and face for the scarier effect you were aiming for. Then they took your wig for a minute and, after fitting it on a head mannequin, poured fake blood all over it.

"It looks much better, doesn't it! It's like watching Shrek in my head*⁵" you commented to the stylist who looked at you weird, but then Jimin next to you laughed. It wasn't the first time you said that when you could picture things clearly.

"More like watching Carrie, I'd say" he commented and you nodded enthusiastically.

"Right?!" you were so eager to go to the rides that you took his hand and tried to walk out the shop without giving him time to pay.

"Sorry" you muttered next to him as the employee behind the counter handed him his change.

"I'm not planning to go to jail despite what it looks like" he joked with you and pinched one of your cheeks.

"Yah! What's with you and my cheeks today. I can bite back!" you threatened him and then realized your wording wasn't the smartest when his lips curled.

"After today everyone will know you're my girlfriend" he swallowed and paused for a second suddenly losing his nerve, yet finally finished his words in a low tone only for you to hear, "you can bite me wherever you want, baby."

In response to his bold comment, you pinched his cheek hard right above his mask and he protested, but then ended up laughing to himself as you walked out hurriedly.

You were more easily flustered with having been apart for so long and it only made him play more and more with you. Make you blush, make you swoon, drive you crazy, it made him feel wanted and it was comforting.

"Should we head outdoors and go on some rides?" he offered pointing at the runway that lead to the escalators.

"Yes, please" you squealed and ran up to read the signs that warned you this was a restricted area of the park, from here on your safety was no longer guaranteed on Halloween. More banners warned you about the dangerous zone as you walked outside and onto the bridge that led to the castle.

Jimin was way too quite as you looked around with bright eyes and you took a moment to play with him and get back at him, since he had been having a blast messing with you.

"Are you scared, Jiminie?" you said nudging him and he shook his head with a little awkward laugh, "don't worry, I'll hold your hand the whole time while I laugh."

"Wow, that's so nice of you, aegi" he responded sarcastically pressing his lips together in a line and tilting his head as he glared at you unamused. You laughed at that and hugged his arm after hopping on the escalator, laying your head on his shoulder.

"This is already the best date I've ever been on" you said softly and he swallowed, facing away with a little smile as he felt his cheeks burn. He could only hope you'd feel the same way at the end of the day, this had only just started.

*¹ Jamsil-dong is a neighborhood (dong). Its name is derived from silkworm breeding or sericulture (jam is silkworm, sil is room) during the Joseon Dynasty. The state encouraged people to raise silkworms so founded Dongjamsil (동잠실, literally "east place for sericulture") in the east vicinity of Seoul.

*² Both aigu and aya mean ouch in Korean, the first is less dramatic. Apha means 'it hurts'.

*⁴ Public demonstrations of affection might be seen as disrespectful by older people in Korea, even if it's just a kiss on the cheek. This is changing though, so it's not as bad, many young people don't care these days.
