Chapter 68: Welcome With Style

Around mid-September you were finally told the headquarters in Seoul had requested you come back. You called your boyfriend right away to tell him the news and you were pretty sure everyone heard you two screaming on either side of the call.

Jimin eagerly awaited your return, counting down the days until you'd finally be back from Tokyo for good. Taehyung and Jungkook were so ready to have you back too, their bandmate had become so intense. They wanted him to be happy, but they also wanted him to shut up.

Today was the day at last, he couldn't contain his excitement as he stared at his marked calendar. Wednesday, October 30th, 2024. Just in time for your favorite holiday the next day, it was 'spooky season' as you liked to call it and he had planned to take you on the best date you'd ever had.

Other girls would have liked a nice romantic dinner out, aboard a private yacht sailing down the Han river. That's lame. Not his quirky girlfriend though, he knew just where to take you for the bloodiest, goriest and most gruesome experience: Horror Halloween at Lotte World.

It was your favorite season and your favorite place combined in one. He'd never understand why you loved Lotte Mart so much, it's like it was the answer to everything for you. There was no way he could go wrong with this.

Everything was planned, he had had enough time to contact the theme park, book the visit, get the costumes, the make-up, find the right movie to watch with you tonight, he'd carefully planned everything like a real performance. Hopefully you wouldn't be too tired for an evening out.

"Just go" Jungkook uttered bringing him back to reality in the practice room. He raised his eyes to see the maknae with arms crossed looking unamused. Taehyung next to him simply nodded in agreement.

"What?" Jimin had no idea what they had been talking about since he pulled his phone out to check the time. Something he had apparently done an insufferable number of times all day long but ignored, unlike the other two.

"Your mind isn't even here" Tae commented and the youngest furrowed his eyebrows and jerked his head to a side with a small slanted smile. That was exactly what was going on, but he wasn't sure if he should bring it up himself.

"I'm sorry, guys" Jimin said instantly looking deflated and they reached out to him as he shrunk back ashamed. "I've been doing my best to stay focused. I'll try harder" he added putting the phone back in his pocket.

"Jimin-ah, no. You can count on us too if you are feeling under too much pressure" his best friend hurried to clarify when he started beating himself up.

"You've been doing great, hyung. It's just now" Jungkook commented and Jimin looked at him raising an eyebrow questioningly.

"Didn't you tell us like forty times that your girlfriend was coming back right about now?" the cheeky youngest teased him and Jimin pressed his lips together annoyed.

"Go meet her, we'll be fine without you. We'll see you tomorrow" Tae said trying to hold back the smile that threatened to spread across his lips at the maknae's comment. He understood though, being away from his girlfriend when they were on tour was a struggle for him as well.

"Yeah, you are as good as absent anyway. We won't even notice the difference" Jungkook added with the widest smile and Jimin hit his arm offended, but then again embarrassed about his lack of professionalism.

"No, I need to be off tomorrow, I can't do half a day today"

"Don't worry about it, we've got it covered. Go!" Tae insisted.

His bandmates turned him around, pushed him out the door paying no notice to his complaints and slammed it behind him to leave him no choice.

It only took him a second of hesitation before he ran out of sight, yelling back a thank you to the other two.

If it weren't because he couldn't see*, he wouldn't have been able to stop himself from smiling. It had been over five months since he'd last seen you and it felt like an eternity, he couldn't believe it was truly over.

But you were really back in Seoul to stay and your flight was indeed landing soon. Jimin wasn't sure whether he was going to make it before or after you landed, but he was on his way in one of the company's cars.

He waited outside of the airport while a member of the staff that accompanied him got off the vehicle to ask about your flight. According to the information provided online, it had not arrived yet.

"We have access to the tarmac" he commented just as he got in and closed the door. "An employee will contact us when passengers are done exiting the aircraft" he added and, after going over the plan, they all sat back and waited.

You were getting your carry-on from the overhead compartment when you heard a flight attendant calling your name as they searched for you.

"Yes, here! That's me, miss" you said raising your hand in the air and she located you and made her way through.

"We would like you to please wait here. If you could have your documentation at the ready, we will assist you as soon as all the passengers have left the aircraft"

"Are there any problems?" you asked confused about being held back. It made you feel anxious, you were sure you had all your papers in order.

"Not at all, miss. Please take a seat and I will be back with you shortly. Would you like something to drink?" you glanced at her with furrowed eyebrows, as if she had directed the words at the wrong person.

You shook your head and thanked her before sitting back down warily to wait until you were completely alone. An endless number of possibilities crossed your mind, non of them involved Jimin. He'd let you know he'd see you after work.

The lady eventually came back and led you out and down instead of into the airport. You looked around nervously as you two just stood there waiting for something.

Only a couple minutes later, a sleek black car pulled over in front of you and you looked at it wide-eyed. You didn't want to get your hopes up, but only few people got to drive up to planes. People with money. Important people. Famous people.

The back door's tinted window rolled down just enough for you to see a pair of eyes with a mischievous glint. They were only slightly curved as they were too eager to see you to smile hard just yet.

You walked up to the car with your lips curled slightly, staying composed as you should and just as the door was pushed open, a man came out from the passenger's door and offered to take your carry-on and documentation.

Feeling overwhelmed, you stood there frozen for a second looking up at him, but an all too familiar voice shook you back into action and you turned your head to it.

"Baaaby*²" Jimin called you in a silly tone with a wide smile and you let go of your luggage and papers without hesitating and got in the car. The staff closed the door right behind you.

"O ireon*³, Jiminie!" you breathed out surprised as you threw your arms around his waist and curled up against his chest, holding him tightly as he kissed the top of your head and buried his face in your hair giggling happily.

So much. He had missed you so much and, by your death grip on him, so had you him. Wrapping his arms around you, he brought you impossibly closer.

"Eoseo wa, nae aegi*⁴" Jimin said in a sweet whisper, pressing his cheek to your head as he rested his on it.

^ Just excited Jimin being all extra for you, leaving the company on his way to pick up his girl.

* I can't remember if I've shared this before, but he can't see when he laughs hard or smiles really wide. My heart will always melt knowing this fact.

"Oh my God, Jiminie!" in Korean. Since I used it in Sheltered Idol, I figured I'd add it here too as a refresher, it's a shortened version of "ireon sesange"

*⁴ "Welcome home, my baby" in Korean. An answer in Korean to a phrase in Korean, it sounded logical, haha. In this context it literally means something different, but it's the same sentiment. You might recognize the sound of it from the intro of Dope.

Eoseo wa means "come in" as if you are welcoming someone close into your physical home. There are different versions that are more formal or that use welcome in another situation. The literal word for welcome is completely different.
