AS THE TEAM continued to go over their next plans, Diana couldn't say anything, she truly had nothing to say. They were keeping Bruce far away from Korea due to what happened last time Wanda was near him, they couldn't fuck anything up again, or else their casualties with Ultrons. At the moment, Steve was talking to Tony about how the group would be split up for the next part of this mission.
"I'll take Natasha, Diana, and Clint," Steve spoke, Diana was adjusting a strap on her suit, listening closely to her teammates, making sure every detail of the plan was heard.
"Alright, strictly recon," Tony replied, "I'll hit the NEXUS, I'll join you as soon as I can."
"If Ultron is really building a body..." Steve went on, he glanced over at Diana, she shuddered at the thought, he raised his eyebrows and nodded in agreement to her reaction.
"He'll be more powerful than any of us." Tony frowned, shaking his head, "Maybe all of us. An android designed by a robot."
Diana stood up and walked over to the two men, finishing up with her suit with the snap of a button over a pouch that held her stones.
"You know I really miss the days when the weirdest thing science ever created was me." Steve sighed, making Diana feel compelled to pat his shoulder with a sympathetic look on her face.
"I'll drop Banner off at the tower." Nick walked into the door, he looked at Tony for the next part, "Do you mind if I borrow Ms. Hill?"
"She's all yours, apparently." Tony waved his hands at Fury, accepting the truth.
"What are you gonna do?" Diana asked, furrowing her brows as she looked at Nick.
"I don't know." Fury's honest voice was something Diana could never tell was real or not, this time, she knew it was real, "Something dramatic, I hope."
The team piled into the quinjet but it was quiet, Diana had no idea where Thor was and it made her nervous. These twins, especially Wanda, scared the shit out of Diana if she had such an effect on the god.
She found herself staring out the front of the jet, watching the clouds roll by as they flew out of Clint's safe haven into the world that had no qualms with chewing them up and spitting them out.
• • •
THE SECOND HER feet hit the roof of the building, Diana regretted all the decisions she's made in her life leading up to the present. She had to stay close to Steve, one, because he ordered her to and, two, because if she slipped and fell she wanted him to be close by to stop her from splattering onto the ground below the building. Cho was on the top floor, which was a good thing for them, it wouldn't be long for the two to get inside and make sure she was okay.
"Two minutes." Steve said the second he landed on the roof, "Stay close."
When they managed to get inside, Diana was alarmed by the amounts of bodies being illuminated by the flickering lights as they ran down the hallway, Steve was at a light jog but Diana was running at full speed to keep up, her heart felt like it was about to burst as her veins did everything it could to keep up with the fast-paced adrenaline that kept her tired body upright.
"Dr. Cho!" Steve called out when they got to her work area, more of her people lay dead on the floor but Cho was upright against a machine that Diana didn't even want to attempt the purpose for.
"He's uploading himself into the body." Helen struggled to get out, gasping for air, Diana held onto the Doctors hand, her eyes scanning the bloody and seared chest left by Ultron.
"Where?" Steve asked as he moved to chase after Ultron, they had to have been close by.
Helen stopped him, squeezing Diana's hand and using the other to grab his shoulder.
"The real power is inside the Cradle." She advised, "The gem, its power is uncontainable. You can't just blow it up. You have to get the Cradle to Stark."
Diana knew first hand the potential power of that stone, if something happened to it out there, it was most likely that there would be very few survivors in its vicinity if there would be any at all.
"First I have to find it," Steve responded. Helen nodded as she shared her look with him and Diana and released them from her grip.
"Go."
With that one word, Steve and Diana were off, running for high ground to look for anything that could hint at Ultron's whereabouts. Korea was large, but Diana was sure he couldn't have gotten far just yet considering how big the cradle is.
"Did you guys copy that?" Steve asked as the two ran off, they headed for the overpass on the highway, why did Diana always find herself on a highway?
If Bucky was revealed to be brainwashed again and decided to surprise them, Diana would be pissed.
"We did," Clint replied.
"I got a private jet taking off across town, no manifest." Natasha spoke up, "That could be him."
"There. It's a truck from the lab." Clint spoke up, "Right above you, Cap. On the loop by the bridge. It's them. I got three with the Cradle, one in the cab. I could take out the driver."
A flash of panic flowed through Diana as they picked up the pace, she noted that she seemed to be able to keep up with Steve this time around and it wasn't making her lungs and heart slam against her chest, maybe it was Laura's food that she ate before she left with the team. That had to be the logical explanation.
"Negative! If that truck crashes, the gem could level the city." Steve yelled out as they began to climb the service ladder to get to the bridge, Diana didn't know why they had a ladder to get up here, but she wasn't going to be ungrateful now, "We need to draw out Ultron."
The two watched as the truck began to follow the looped path that would go under them. With how tall the truck is, Diana figured it would be like jumping onto one of those moving paths that you could find at amusement parks, only this one has a murderous robot underneath it.
Diana could do this.
She watched Steve and ran in time with him as they jumped over the ledge and onto the truck, Diana let out a groan as she fell back against Steve who also collapsed on the roof. This was going spectacular.
Diana spread herself out onto the roof, watching as Steve clumped down the door in an attempt to get in when the door was blasted off, Steve, luckily managed to hang on.
"Well, he's definitely unhappy!" Steve's strained voice alerted Diana that he was hurt. She stuck her hand into the open space in the truck and peered in, aiming for the robot, she sent a blast at him, she knew it wouldn't work to stop him completely, but if it got him away from the cradle, she would be in the right track, "We're gonna try and keep him that way."
"You're not a match for him, guys," Clint spoke up in the comm, making Diana roll her eyes.
"Thanks, Barton," Steve grunted as he tried to get back up, Diana watched as Ultron unplugged himself from the Cradle and blasted Steve back onto another car as he tried to enter the truck, but with some maneuvering, Steve managed to get back onto the truck's roof where Diana waited.
The two tapped fists as they spun around to see Ultron fly out.
"You know what's in that Cradle?" He asked, "The power to make real change, and that terrifies you."
Diana couldn't lie about the fact that she felt something pull her to the trunk, more so the contents inside of the truck. But this was no time for a casual conversation.
"I wouldn't call it a comfort," Steve spoke, whipping his shield around and throwing it against Ultron.
Diana sent melee blasts in between Steve's hits, the two trading spots sporadically on the limited space of the truck. Bumped shoulders and grazed sides weren't a problem for the two, the dodging of the blasts even seemed to make Diana feel a bit nostalgic about the first time the two fought together, oh how easy Loki's army seems compared to this near-invincible robot.
Then the problem arose when Steve's shield got stuck in Ultron's chest. As if it was instinct, Diana did her best to try and blast the shield loose, changing her target to the clenching metal around the disk or the sides of the disk outside, nothing seemed to work.
"Stop it!" Ultron scolded, pushing Steve's shield out of him and letting it clatter against the ground, Diana gasped at the sight but dropped down to her stomach when she saw the upcoming sign.
Steve didn't have that luxury because that left him to be the open target for Ultron. The blonde man was blasted back into the sign and rolled forward to the front of the truck, unfortunately landing right into the view of more robots.
Diana rolled to her feet, narrowly avoiding blasts, doing her best to send her one. She pulled her spear from her back and got on one knee, blasting at Ultron as best as she could. Steve managed to get himself back up on the truck, this time, he seemed to be out for blood, or whatever the hell Ultron leaked.
Diana held off her blasts, calculating them before sending them to make sure she avoided Steve. By some miracle, he managed to get Ultron into a chokehold, opening up the robot for more of Diana's blasts. She drew closer to him, aiming for his weak spots, hoping to get some progress but they don't seem to do as much damage to him as the other robots. It made Diana frown.
Ultron threw a punch at Diana knocking her onto her back. She drove the chitauri spear into the truck, grounding her to it as she slid around the roof, another wave of adrenaline rushing through her veins as she struggled to get her boots to get some grip on the smooth surface.
"I'm always picking up after you boys," Natasha spoke up, making Diana chuckle. She almost missed Nat and Clint's banter as Natasha caught up to join them.
"They're heading under the overpass, I've got no shot."
Diana managed to get back up onto the roof, simultaneously blasting at Ultron and also trying to pull her spear out of the roof of the truck. She was so grateful for her weapon, but now its refusal to budge was pissing her off.
"Which way?"
"Hard right..." Clint paused, "Now."
Less than a minute later, Steve's shield appeared in his hand thanks to Natasha. Diana stopped blasting at Ultron for a split second to try and pull the spear out, Steve was next to her doing his best to keep Ultron away from her.
When she finally managed to pull it out and spin around, she was suddenly flying back. Panic rose in her and suddenly all of her yellow energy surrounded her, taking most of the blow as she was slammed into the train that was adjacent to the truck.
Diana wheezed as she got up, her back spasmed in pain and she knew that she would be covered in bruises by the time she was done. Her arms and legs ached and shook as she struggled to stand up, she hoped another wave of adrenaline would kick in soon because, in her frazzled state, she wasn't sure how much longer she could keep this up.
"Heading back towards you." Clint spoke, referring to the guards that accompanied Ultron in the truck, "So whatever you're gonna do, do it now."
"I'm going in." Natasha alerted, "Cap, Renfrey can you keep him occupied?"
"What do you think we've been doing?" Steve grunted, Diana could only grin as she staggered over to him and pulled him up with her free hand.
Steve yanked his hand back with a wince and Diana furrowed her eyebrows, looking down at her hand to see wisps of her yellow energy surrounding it and going up to her arm.
"Sorry," she spoke, before Steve shoved her out of the way, a blast from Ultron whizzing past her, nearly taking her face off. Diana gasped and looked in his direction.
"No fair, my face is perishable!" Diana yelled out, willing for her energy to surround her fist, sending a large blast at Ultron, it seemed to make him stumble back, but it also seemed to piss him off more.
Diana regretted the decision but Steve jumped in the way. Another blast bounced off the shield he threw up instantly. Diana reached around the shield, throwing blast after blast. It didn't do much but get them blasted back to the floor of the train.
Once again Steve was crushing Diana under his weight as he tried to protect her from more blasts. She immediately got flashbacks to the battle in New York, at least her ribs aren't broken this time. Even though it certainly felt like it. Tears pricked her eyes as she wheezed for air to enter her lungs again.
"The package is airborne." Clint's voice faintly crackled into Diana's earpiece that she shoved back in, not wanting to lose the important equipment, "I have a clean shot."
"Negative." Natasha's voice was low, but now clear, "I am still in the truck."
"What the hell are you..." Clint trailed off with his question.
When Steve got off of her, he charged at Ultron, doing his best with hand-to-hand combat in the enclosed space. Diana rolled onto her side, grabbed onto her spear, and watched as it lit up with her energy. She grinned, despite her entire body screaming in pain. She will make Ultron hurt, even if he doesn't have nerve endings.
"Just be ready, I'm sending the package to you." Natasha's voice in her ear pushed her on, Diana had to keep Ultron distracted.
"How do you want me to take it?" Clint asked.
Diana stood up and pointed at Ultron, her almost evil grin spread across her face, making the robot alarmed, it seemed when he noticed.
"Hey, you useless toaster," she called out, dodging a blast that only grazed her arm, through gritted teeth and a shaking hand gripping onto her searing injury, "how fast do you think you can turn a loaf of bread into toast?"
"Uhh, you might wish you hadn't asked that." If Natasha's words were meant for Diana, she wouldn't know.
Before Ultron could send a deadly blast at Diana, a blue streak of a blur whizzed past her and knocked him back. Diana finally registered her eyes on Pietro and Wanda Maximoff, the two twins who seemed afraid, yet Diana could still see how pissed they were, only this time it wasn't directed at Diana.
"Please." Ultron pleaded, "Don't do this."
"What choice do we have?" Wanda asked, they must have realized Ultron's plans for human extinction, Diana knew that they would eventually figure out that Ultron's "purge" had more consequences than expected.
Ultron flew off, making Diana clamber over to the window.
"Fuck you, you better run, you- you-" Diana couldn't come up with something creative on the spot like Tony, "shit-bag!"
Diana slumped against the seat under her, turning back to see the twins and Steve lining at her curiously as she adjusted in the seat, her arm that got grazed throbbing at an alarming rate as her whole body ached.
Steve kneeled at her side but looked out the window.
"I lost him!" Steve yelled out, "He's headed your way!"
"Nat, we gotta go." Clint's voice in her ear had her on the edge of her seat, she hoped that Nat and the cradle were safe, she was holding tightly onto Steve's forearm, if it bothered him, he didn't seem to show, thought considering who he is, it didn't.
"Nat!" Clint yelled out, making Diana's stomach lurch and she spun back around, to look out the window, "Cap, Renfrey, either of you see Nat?"
"If you have the package, get it to Stark! Go!" Steve yelled. Diana wanted to scream otherwise, tears flooded her vision and she did everything she could to blink them away and see, she couldn't see Nat anywhere in the sky, not even her falling.
"Do you have eyes on Nat?" Clint asked, but Diana only opened her mouth, shaking her head, the words unable to leave her lips.
"Go!" Steve finally commanded, Diana felt like she was going to puke as Steve directed his attention to Pietro, "Civilians in our path." - Pietro sped off and Steve looked at Wanda- "Can you stop this thing?" Steve gave one last look to Diana as Wanda nodded, it seemed almost apologetic. He ran off to the front of the train.
Diana watched, gripping her arm as Wanda shot her hands down at the floor, red wisps flowing down and around the bottom of the train. Diana's stomach lurched and she found herself holding her head out of the broken window of the train, emptying the contents of her stomach, the combination of the train stopping and watching her best friend disappear in the sky didn't agree with Diana's stomach.
Her throat burned and her stomach twisted. Tears were sliding down her face like it was rain and she had no way of stopping it. Her body twitched and ached at the effort and she was able to stop heaving onto the streets of Korea, her nose stuffy yet burning at the same time from the stench of her bile.
She grabbed a piece of rubble and turned it into a small hand towel, wiping at her mouth to get rid of anything else that lingered there, though she would have to brush her teeth thoroughly once they got back home.
The train eventually stopped, thanks to Wanda, and the girl, while slightly out of breath, walked over to Diana, offering a gentle hand, unlike the ones she held out before previously. Diana stared at it for a moment, she could see Strucker's bloody smile in her peripheral vision, almost like he was begging her to take Wanda's hand as if something bad would happen if she did.
Diana took it anyway, doing her best to ignore him. The two women shared a look as Wanda helped her up, the expression on her face was almost sorrowful.
"I'm- I'm," Wanda paused, closing her eyes and sighing, "I am so sorry for what I did to you in those few months, I don't expect your forgiveness but I do want to tell you anyway, that I'm unbelievably sorry."
Diana paused for a moment.
"We'll go over that when this is over, let's go get your brother and Steve," Diana spoke weakly as she stored her spear and turned the rag into a staff, using that to get herself out without using Wanda's help.
When the two stepped off, Wanda immediately rushed over to her brother, her gentle hand on his shoulder, the other holding his hand.
"I'm fine." He huffed, clearly winded from having to go that fast for that long, "I just need to take a minute."
"I'm very tempted not to give you one," Steve spoke up, immediately walking over to Diana, a hand at the small of her back and a look directed at her that could only ask if she was okay.
Diana nodded before looking back to the twins.
"The Cradle," Wanda said, "did you get it?"
"Stark will take care of it," Steve replied, his stern glare scrutinizing the two of them, Diana could see Pietro squirm a bit but Wanda's face fell in what looked like a slight bit of horror.
"No, he won't." She shook her head, her accent was even thicker than before with her worry.
"You don't know what you're talking about," Steve shook his head, shutting down her doubts as best he could, "Stark's not crazy"
"He will do anything to make things right." Wanda's words made Diana blink back, slightly stunned at the truth, Wanda must have gotten into his head at some point, must have read Tony's desperation at some point, she knows her friend has been ridden with guilt for years over his company's actions.
Diana knows the truth in Wanda's words, and it seemed so did Steve because a second later he turned his back to them, pressing a finger to his earpiece.
"Stark, come in." No response, "Stark. Anyone on comms?"
The silence told them everything, Wanda stepped closer, switching her attention back and forth from Diana to Steve.
"Ultron can't tell the difference between saving the world and destroying it." She stated, "Where do you think he gets that?"
"Well he didn't get it from me," Diana raised her eyebrows.
Steve spun around and gave a sharp warning glare to Diana, his attention quickly turning on the twins.
"You certainly didn't help with the mess, so until it's been cleaned up, you're coming with us to fix it," Steve sharply spoke.
The two looked at each other, communicating silently. They seemed to have agreed upon looking back to Steve and Diana.
"Of course, where do we go now?"
────━▒ ۞ ▒━────
GETTING BACK TO the tower didn't feel the same knowing that Natasha wasn't there to greet her. But Diana would have to push that aside before Tony did something stupid with the cradle and the almost built body inside it.
Eventually, they made it to the lab where Tony and Bruce originally made Ultron, now, once again repeating their actions with a gem that they can't come close to comprehending. She felt something pull her to the cradle, like a force that's tethered to her. She wondered if the twins felt the same.
Steve announced their arrival by stopping down his foot loudly, bringing the attention of the two scientists to the four of them. Bruce's face turned to one of alarm when he saw the presence of the twins.
"I'm gonna say this once," Steve spoke up, his disappointment emanating from him at full force.
"How about nonce?"Tony shot back, making Diana snort as she stepped aside to get a better view of the cradle, leaning on her toes to get taller and peer inside.
Steve sent a stern glance her way for entertaining Tony's remark before looking back at the two.
"Shut it down!" Steve commanded loudly. Diana squirmed at how uncomfortable she felt about the fight that was going to brew between the two, it was like watching parents fight.
At least Diana thought so, she didn't have the best judgment on what normal parenting should look like. She shook the thoughts of Tom and Celeste from her mind and focused on her family in front of her.
"Nope, not gonna happen," Tony replied nonchalantly, going on about his business. Diana was still able to catch Tony's concerned glance her way after noticing her shaking figure.
Her body ached so badly, she couldn't control it, the adrenaline wore off leaving her with nothing but fatigue and pain. And it didn't help with the jarring fact that Natasha wasn't there. Diana was never good with calming the situation down, that was something Natasha was an expert at, and she wasn't here to put that expertise to use, leaving Diana blanching with an open mouth, unable to think of what she could say that could slow everyone down.
"You don't know what you're doing." Steve tried.
"And you do?" Bruce asked, he looked over at Wanda, "She's not in your head?"
"I know you're angry-" Wanda spoke up, probably ready to apologize but that didn't happen.
"Oh, we're way past that." Bruce interrupted, "I could choke the life out of you and never change a shade."
A chill went down Diana's spine, in all her three years of knowing Bruce, she knows how gentle he truly is. Hearing the seriousness of his words to match the grim look on his face, Diana shuddered and even moved over to stand in front of Wanda. She couldn't tell if Bruce was making an empty threat but she didn't want to find out, even though he had every right to be angry, Diana also knew that he would regret killing Wanda every day for the rest of his life.
Diana had to avert her eyes from Bruce's hurt gaze after seeing what she did.
"Banner, after everything that's happened-" Steve began.
"That's nothing compared to what's coming!" Tony yelled out, making Diana jump.
"Guys please," she tried, it was too quiet, the acid from her vomit from earlier wasn't helping her throat and still had a sour taste in her mouth.
They couldn't hear her.
"You don't know what's in there!" Wanda yelled out.
"This isn't a game-" Diana could hear Steve yell from in front of her.
"The creature-" she could also hear Wanda yelling from behind Diana.
The blonde squeezed onto her staff, leaning onto it for support as she took deep breaths, her hammering heart from her nerves as making her new, amber abilities go on the fritz. This seemed to trigger something in Pietro because less than a second later, he was all over the lab, sabotaging all of the equipment that was used.
"No, no. Go on." He spoke after he finally stopped, dropping a tube that pushed out air that was so cold, Diana could see it slowly fall to the floor to pool around before dissipating, "You were saying?"
A gunshot rang out and another second later, he was falling through the floor, Clint must have been below them, listening to everyone bicker, he had a bone to pick with Pietro specifically from what Diana heard about what happened on the extraction/rescue mission.
"Pietro!" Wanda yelled out, moving to go to him. Diana shook her head, doing her best to reassure the girl. Clint may have a bone to pick but he wouldn't kill Pietro, he's not like that.
"I'm rerouting the upload," Tony announced, making Diana roll her eyes.
Wanda maneuvered around Diana and pushed forward to incapacitate Bruce but he spun around her and got her in a chokehold. Diana's blood ran cold as she hobbled over, opening her mouth to try and calm him down.
"Go ahead, piss me off." Bruce threatened. Diana was so close, she reached out to pull him back but Wanda's abilities proved to be more and more useful by the second as she got him off of her.
Diana grabbed onto his arm. Pulling his attention.
"Bruce, please," she winced at her throat, "I understand you can't trust her, but trust me, she's not in my head or I wouldn't be talking to you."
Bruce seemed to calm down a bit more, Diana was feeling his pulse through the crook of his arm, he was far from changing shades.
"And you need to trust me," Bruce spoke. With a gentle pull, Diana's grip on him was gone.
Steve and Tony were still fighting all around them. But everything came to a halt with the shattering of glass and Thor dropping down, lighting and electricity crackling all around him. The static energy making some of their hairs stand on edge.
Thor lifted his hammer to the sky, louder, booming bolts of electricity touched down to him, and the hammer, as if God herself was reaching down, blessing him with the energy. Someone yelled out for him to wait, though Diana's surprised she even heard that over the noise. Thor touched the hammer down to the cradle and seconds later he was thrown back as the body came to life, tearing through the metal cocoon.
Diana felt the pull to the body grow strong. She felt her powers grow stronger, her body covered in the yellow glow as if buzzed at the presence of the gem in the forehead of the body before her.
The body launched itself at Thor, who threw him at a window, but he caught himself right before hitting it. He paused, suspending himself in the air as he looked down over the city. He seemed to be collecting his thoughts. Diana watched in awe, unable to form words that could even articulate what she was feeling. She didn't even really know what she was feeling.
He spun around, a suit forming itself over the body of the newly made android-being. At least he cared about being modest. Diana and the rest of the team meet him halfway in the living area where the party was once hosted. The group stood in an almost half-circle, all facing the body that shot itself into existence.
"I'm sorry, that was" - he was gathering his thoughts once more, "odd." Diana knew that voice, she watched the android turn his head to regard Thor, "Thank you."
Diana looked down to see she still was surrounded by an almost cocoon of her energy. She willed it to die down, to internalize itself before she made a fool of herself.
"Thor, you helped create this?" Steve asked, almost as if he was offended by the gods' decision.
"I've had a vision." Thor spoke up, nodding at Steve, "A whirlpool that sucks in all hope of life and at its center is that." He pointed at the gem in the android's forehead.
Diana felt her heart sink in dread at Thor's words, she didn't like whirlpools that kill, she normally didn't even like regular whirlpools.
"What, the gem?" Bruce asked, stepping closer to the android to inspect it better, Diana could see him shift into his scientific mindset that had to take notes of anything that was deemed a discovery.
"It's the Mind Stone." Thor spoke up, "It's one of the six Infinity Stones, the greatest power in the universe, unparalleled in its destructive capabilities."
"Then why would you bring it to-" Steve was cut off by Thor's prepared answer.
"Because Stark is right." Shit.
"Oh, it's definitely the end times." Bruce went on, she could see him turn a sickly shade of green but that seemed to be from nausea, not anger.
"The Avengers cannot defeat Ultron," Thor spoke, making Diana frown.
"Thanks for the boost of confidence," Diana spoke up, coughing directly after, completely taking away what she said from her.
"Not alone." Thor's Vision spoke up. She knew that voice.
"Why does your vision sound like JARVIS?" Steve asked, catching up with Diana on what she suspected.
"We reconfigured JARVIS' matrix to create something new," Tony replied.
Diana stepped a little closer, her powers buzzing around so much, her staff was beginning to crackle with yellow energy. The Vision only observed her behavior. She could see him analyzing her, and she wasn't a threat to him.
"I think I've had my fill of new." Diana wondered how pessimistic Steve could get with all this technology.
"You think I'm a child of Ultron?" The Vision questioned.
"You're not?"
The maroon android gave a slight shake of his head to say "no".
"I'm not Ultron." The Vision elaborated, "I'm not JARVIS. I am" - he paused, "I am."
"You're god?" Diana asked, making Tony send a sarcastic look her way, "what, that's literally what he said in the Bible!"
"I looked in your head and saw annihilation," Wanda spoke shakily, Diana could get the sense that Wanda felt that same pull to the Vision.
"Look again." He spoke.
"Yeah." Clint scoffed, "Her seal of approval means jack to me."
"Their powers," Thor pointed to Diana and then the twins, "the horrors in our heads, Ultron himself, they all came from the Mind Stone, and they're nothing compared to what it can unleash. But with it on our side..."
"Is it?" Steve asked, looking over at the Vision once more, "Are you? On our side?"
"I don't think it's that simple." The Vision replied, making Diana raise her eyebrow at the cryptic words.
"Well, it better get real simple real soon," Clint spoke up, voicing Diana's thoughts almost word for word.
"I am on the side of life." Only a small streak of relief went through her body with the Vision's words, "Ultron isn't, he will end it all."
"What's he waiting for?" Tony asked.
"You." Diana shifted her stance uncomfortably at the pointed words towards them. She was in no rush to fight that crazy robot.
"Where?" Bruce asked.
"Sokovia." Clint answered for the Vision, "He's got Nat there too."
A wave of relief washed over Diana, the relaxation wasn't full, but the knowledge that she was alive had her soothed slightly. A new sense of energy began to fill her as she dwelled on it. She could be taking her dying breath and still do everything she can to get Nat to safety.
"If we're wrong about you," Bruce began, he seemed to be giving more of a warning to the android more than anything, "if you're the monster that Ultron made you to be..."
"What will you do?" The Vision asked before he looked around at them all, he seemed to have gotten his answer when a wave of her energy flowed over the staff and up to Diana's arm, "I don't want to kill Ultron. He's unique, and he's in pain. But that pain will roll over the earth, so he must be destroyed. Every form he's built, every trace of his presence on the net, we have to act now. And not one of us can do it without the others. Maybe I am a monster. I don't think I'd know if I were one. I'm not what you are, and not what you intended. So there may be no way to make you trust me. But we need to go."
He held up Mjolnir to Thor who quietly took it with an alarmed and confused expression on his face. Diana was too stunned to speak as her mouth gaped open and her eyes grew wide, it seemed to have a visual effect as even her crackling, yellow energy seemed to dissipate from the staff.
Was he worthy?
"Right." Thor awkwardly patted the hammer and then patted Tony on the shoulder, "Well done."
"Three minutes." Steve was the first to collect his thoughts and get back on track, "Get what you need."

i know what some of you might be thinking, does Diana have feelings for vision? The answer is, UNKNOWN! she's definitely not in love with the guy, but there's still that connection from the mindstone that has her drawn to him, out of the three of them, Diana has powers that relates closest to the mindstone.
This also means she has a weird power bond with the twins that's left her previously extra conflicted about her feelings towards them.
I hope that explained that for you!
and I hope you all stick around for the next update!
