DESCRIPTION

The Skywalker family was legendary. Beginning with the immaculate conception of Anakin Skywalker on the desert planet of Tatooine, the lineage gave way to powerful Force users in both the Light and Dark Side. Though Anakin Skywalker was one of the most powerful Jedi at the height of their power, when he turned to the Dark Side and became Darth Vader, he became the second most powerful Sith, his power outmatched only by Darth Sidious. And when Luke Skywalker began his training, he proved powerful enough to defeat Darth Sidious and turn his father back to the Light Side.

This lineage continued with the birth of Emery and Jacen Skywalker, the twin children of Luke. Born at the same time that Luke realized just how powerful his nephew, Ben Solo, was in the Force, he founded a school to teach Force users across the galaxy how to properly use their power. How to be better than the Jedi Order was before they fell. The twins were immersed in the ways of the new Jedi Order for their entire lives. It was everything they knew. It was all they knew.

Unfortunately for the galaxy, the Skywalker family always seemed doomed to be separated by the Light Side and the Dark Side. It wasn't just his nephew that Luke sensed darkness in, no, it was his own son as well. And in a moment of fear at the depth of the darkness he sensed in them, Luke Skywalker made a mistake that would cost him everything. Ben and Jacen bring the entire school down around them, leaving only a few survivors. Emery herself would manage to survive, barely pulling herself out of the wreckage alive only to see her father abandoning her.

The years that followed would bring chaos to many, once more at the hands of the Skywalker family. And as history is always doomed to repeat itself, it is only the Skywalker family that can bring order back.

ADDITIONAL NOTES:

› so, as always, please fix up the summary. I don't think it's terrible but it could definitely use some polishing

› despite sharing the name, I would like to make it clear that Jacen Skywalker is not Jacen Solo from Legends. This is an old plot of mine and since I wanted to do twins where one turns to the Dark Side, I figured I should use the reference. I know next to nothing about what caused Jacen Solo to turn to the Dark Side in Legends and since I didn't want to try adapting the story and not do it justice, I never looked into it. That being said, if you want to adapt it and make Jacen more like his Legends counterpart, we can discuss that

› to begin, Emery and Jacen were raised at Luke's Jedi school with him (and possibly their mother). They trained from the time they could walk and understand. They were living at a school, they were constantly immersed in it. Even if they weren't formally in lessons, they were still learning

› both twins were also always close with their cousin, Ben, who was at the school with them the entire time they were. Jacen and Ben were definitely closer but that was more of a boys thing than anything actually to do with Emery

› when they were old enough, Jacen even became Ben's Padawan. Luke thought it was a good idea since they were always together and Jacen was always trying to be like Ben anyways, so why not have him officially train him? He would, of course, regret this in time, but hindsight is 20/20

› as time went on and the twins got older, Luke started sensing a very noticeable difference in them

› for one, Emery seemed to excel at anything to do with the Light Side like it was instinctual. Though she struggled with aspects like meditation and even some of the mental abilities, her combat abilities were unmatched, even by older students who had other combat training before coming to the academy and her cousin, Ben, who was much older than her

› Jacen on the other hand, struggled. The Light Side just didn't come easy to him. He learned to be very good at the mental aspects of the Force but when delving into someone's head or using a Jedi Mind Trick on someone, there was always a sense that he liked having that power over the other person. And while his combat skills could rival most of the other students, he wasn't his sister and couldn't beat everyone. Though, a sparring match between Emery and Jacen was well known around the school to go on for hours if no one stopped them with no clear winner

› what scared Luke the most was when he started sensing that same darkness in Ben. He worried that, because he was older, it was his influence on Jacen that was making him that way, though he believed it to be entirely unintentional. Luke didn't believe for a second either of them were trying to turn to the Dark Side and that it was faults in his own training that was causing it

› that is why he was there that night in the room shared by Ben and Jacen at the academy. While they were sleeping and it would be easier, Luke wanted to get into their heads and be sure that he wasn't seeing things, that trauma from the Rebellion and everything that had to do with Vader wasn't making him see things that weren't really there. He wanted, perhaps desperately so, to prove to himself that he was just seeing things, it was just that lingering PTSD from being in a war at nineteen years old, not that his son and nephew were turning to the Dark Side

› unfortunately, he was proven right and he sensed that they were both turning. He saw, impossibly so, the influence of a Sith Lord, perhaps the successor that Palpatine lost in Vader, in mostly Ben's, but also Jacen's mind. And in a moment of fear and panic at what he saw in their heads, he instinctually ignited his lightsaber and went to swing only to stop himself. And it was at that very moment that Ben Solo woke up, saw his uncle over his bed, holding his lightsaber over him like he intended to strike

› in his own fear, Ben Solo defended himself, blocking both his uncle's incoming attack and bringing the hut down around him. He protected Jacen from falling rubble and the two of them managed to make it out

› when they were clear, Ben explained what had happened to Jacen, who was rightfully confused about the situation. When his cousin said that Luke had tried to kill them, Jacen didn't want to believe it but he couldn't explain why else his father would have had his lightsaber ignited and aiming to strike at Ben if not to kill him. The rage of the two boys mixed together and they summomed a storm above the Jedi academy that began to destroy it

› as the academy was slowly destroyed by lightning strikes that caused fires, the two boys simply watched. Jacen said they should find Emery, make sure Luke hadn't killed her, but Ben said that she was likely on Luke's side. She was his prized pupil, after all. Jacen, jealous at always being outmatched by his twin sister, believed him and decided they shouldn't try to find Emery, save her from the flames or see if she was even all right

› the two boys made their way to a ship and left the planet

› Luke managed to make it out of the hut alive, though somewhat injured. As he saw the destruction of the academy he had built, he felt nothing but shame and grief. He believed his son to be killed, crushed by the debris Ben had brought down on them and, looking at the fires and ruins around him, couldn't imagine that his daughter had survived. His nephew, his first student, turned to the Dark Side. In shame at believing this was all his fault, Luke shut down Artoo, got in a ship and left the planet as well, intending to go into exile to pay for what he had done

› now, before we get to Emery, let me just say that in this story, Luke still went to Ach-Tu. But after getting off his X-Wing, he purposefully crashed it into the water off one of the cliffs, believing he would never want to leave and never should. That being said, a little while later, you decide how long, he realized this was a stupid idea and wanted to go back, he wanted to right his wrongs, he realized that he saved Darth Vader, one of the most notorious Sith in the galaxy. He could save his son and nephew and, more importantly, he should. But the pieces of the X-Wing were beyond repair, waterlogged or broken or pieces lost to the currents. He couldn't fix it and so had no way off the planet. Whether he cut himself off from the Force as well, is totally up to you

› now, Emery. She wakes up in the middle of the night to her hut on fire and the person she shared it with (possibly her Master if you didn't want to go the route of Luke being hers to further the jealousy Jacen felt) dead and crushed under flaming debris from the ceiling. She is breathing in smoke and can barely catch her breath, but she manages to make it out alive with her lightsaber. Just as she makes it out, falling to the grass as she coughs and tries to catch her breath now that there's not just smoke to breathe, she looks up and sees her father getting in a ship, Artoo still on the ground and not boarding with him. She tries to call out but she still hasn't caught her breath. She watches her father leave and doesn't understand what has happened

› Emery makes it over to Artoo and powers him back on. She asks what happened and he says he doesn't know, only that Luke left without him. She tells him to get a message to Leia, Han, Chewie, Lando, anybody, and get them here to help. Once he's sent the message, she tells him to scan for life signs and they start going through the wreckage

› meanwhile, Ben and Jacen have made a journey of their own that, to put it simply and spoiler free, led them firstly to Snoke and then to the Knights of Ren where Ben became their new leader with Jacen as his second in command. Ben takes the name Kylo Ren and Jacen takes the name Caedus Ren to symbolize them leaving their old lives behind and embracing their lives on the Dark Side

› now it is important to note that there is a pivotal moment in their transition where they fully commit to the Dark Side and this sends a ripple out through the Force and everyone connected to them feel it, they feel the moment they turn. That includes Luke, Emery, Leia, Han, Chewie, even Snoke. Everyone felt it and everyone knows what happened.

› so, this all happens. The Knights of Ren join up with the First Order under Snoke's rule and Leia founds the Resistance to fight them with Emery by her side

› Emery is... not having the best time. She lost pretty much everyone that was important to her. Her twin brother, her other half, her father and her cousin. The people that she had been with for her entire life pretty much without break. Sure, she still has her Aunt Leia, but Leia was so busy rebuilding the Republic that she barely had time for her son, let alone her niece and nephew so Emery really isn't that close to Leia at first, though they do grow closer over time

› so she throws herself into work for the Resistance. Gathering resources, recruiting agents, fighting off the First Order and Knights of Ren

› it is during these missions that she comes face to face with her brother and cousin for the first time since the academy was destroyed

› first she encounters Kylo and there's a fight and he taunts her but she was always a better fighter than he was, even now that he isn't holding anything back being fully turned to the Dark Side, so she manages to fight him off until he basically has to cut and run so he can actually make it out of the encounter

› next, she finally comes face to face with her brother. This is a horrible fight for Emery. Caedus is relentless in his taunting of Emery, using their connection as twins (and Force Sensitive twins at that) and just his knowledge of his sister to his advantage to throw her off her game. He taunts her about how she failed him, how it's her fault he turned to the Dark Side and even tries egging her into turning herself. Eventually, the thing that ends the battle is them literally being separated in some way like how Rey and Kylo were at the end of TFA. Like there is a physical element that separates them. If it hadn't, with how thrown off she was, Caedus likely would have killed Emery and she knows this. They both do

› time goes on, Emery tries to recover from her entire world crumbling around her by building the Resistance, creating a new world for herself. Kylo and Caedus continue wrecking havoc

› both sides are trying to find Luke. The Resistance because they think he holds the key to stopping the First Order or the Knights of Ren. Them being Sith and all that. Honestly I was never 100% clear on why they were trying to find Luke other than he went missing and he was Leia's brother so maybe that's all it is, up to you. The First Order wants to kill Luke, mainly Kylo and Caedus do, because they believe this will finally eradicate the Jedi from the galaxy

› they should be aiming for Emery as well, either to kill or turn her for the same reasons. That's important to note. She's not an exception in any way just because she's family. Obviously they want to turn her because that's what the Sith do but also, if that fails, if she remains steadfast, killing her is absolutely an option

› finally comes The Force Awakens

› I think it would make sense if Leia sent Emery with Poe since they're looking for the key to find her dad, after all

› Lor San Tekka will probably recognize Emery as a Skywalker as well given he met Luke and Ben in the past

› now two options for how it goes from here

› option one is that when Kylo and Caedus land and attack, Poe tells Emery to run with BB-8. Not only to protect him but because he knows that Kylo and Caedus want to either capture or kill her and he obviously doesn't want to let either of those things happen. If you go with this, she should protest and claim she could help defend the village but Poe insists that getting the key back to Leia is more important and he'll be fine. He insists she go and eventually she does. In this case, she wanders off into the desert with BB-8 until they are found and rescued by Rey. By this time Emery is probably exhausted from being out in the desert all night and fighting off those guys who had BB-8 in the net. Rey helps nurse her back to health a bit and it's kind of an arrangement that when she's well enough, she'll leave with the droid to get back to where she needs to go but she doesn't really know where she is and a guide is helpful until she can leave

› option two is that she stays with Poe to protect the village and they send BB-8 off alone as normal. There's a scuffle, Poe and Emery are immobilized by Kylo and Caedus, Poe sasses them, they get captured and brought on board. Emery has an intense interrogation akin to Poe's where they try to get her to turn before eventually, Finn helps break both of them out. Their TIE Fighter crashes in the desert and Emery and Finn make it out but they think that Poe was swallowed up in the desert. They wander until they find civilization and BB-8 recognizes both Poe's jacket on Finn and Emery herself

› regardless, Emery makes it to the Millennium Falcon with Finn and Rey but she shouldn't be in the best shape. Enough that she should be resting in the med section of the Falcon and can't tell Rey where they need to go, leading Finn to have to get BB-8 to do it

› Emery shouldn't question that Finn says he's Resistance and she doesn't recognize him. They have lots of agents and some of them she hasn't met. That's not unbelievable. She might believe he's never been to D'Qar and is strictly an off world agent

› in the case that Emery knows he's a Stormtrooper, she should understand him not wanting to admit that to people. It's not viewed as a good and trustworthy thing, even if he had no choice. Besides, he helped them escape, she should think he wants to join anyways and believe he's coming back to D'Qar with her and that was the plan even before they crashed

› Emery's reunion with Han should be tense but also sad. I always got the impression Han and Leia's relationship was on the rocks before Ben fell but that really solidified it so I don't think she would have seen him since before the academy was destroyed. They both know the other knows what happened but she hasn't seen him so that should definitely be a conversation

› I think it would even be cute to throw in a joke at some point, not necessarily during this conversation, about Han protesting that Emery still calls him Uncle Han and she retorts that she knows he and Leia never officially got divorced they just went their separate ways. It could definitely be a good way to finally break the tension between them

› most of The Force Awakens should follow as normal. Confrontations between Caedus, Kylo and Emery should happen. Emery should sense Force Ability in both Rey and Finn. Kylo should still kill Han

› I think you could definitely shift the Dyad to be between Emery and Caedus instead of Rey and Kylo but that's up to you. Or you could create two. The concept of the Force Dyad is fascinating so we can definitely talk about it

› Emery will accompany Rey to go get Luke because obviously. It's her dad. But I think it'd be fun if you ditched the whole "we have to urgently evacuate and can't keep jumping to hyperspace" thing and had there be a little bit more time and have Finn go with them. Honestly, you could even have Poe join them too and really do the whole Finn/Rey/Poe as the new main trio thing by having Poe and Chewie be the main pilots of the Falcon instead of Chewie and Rey. But honestly that last part is optional. I really only want you to have Finn go. He needs to also train as a Jedi. I will literally fight you if you don't do this and I will take the plot back. My baby deserved to be a Jedi

› most of TLJ should focus on Emery's tense reunion with her dad (can someone say ✨abandonment issues✨?), Rey and Finn's training, the Dyad however you chose to have it play out and the goings on of Caedus and Kylo

› which, speaking of

› I honestly really liked that Kylo struggled with killing Han. That it didn't bring him the peace he imagined. I loved the theory that he was so much less on the Dark Side than he claimed to be. I saw this post about how the reason he was pounding on his wound in that final fight was because he needed that pain and anger to keep him on the Dark Side. I just think it was so much cooler than what we got

› so that being said, Kylo should struggle. And Caedus should notice. He should notice that his cousin seems to be not only regretting killing his father but faltering on the Dark Side and it should absolutely be a bone of contention between them. It is their main conflict. Force Dyad shit is going on but these two are mad at each other because Ben Solo is still in there and he regrets killing his dad while Caedus wants nothing more than to kill his own dad

› also they're not killing Snoke at the end. That was dumb

› or if you do kill Snoke and Kylo or Caedus or both ascend to Supreme Leader, fucking commit to the bit unlike tRoS

› I think near the end of at the end of TLJ is the best time to reveal Rey's parentage, if you want to actually go that route. Because we are a Fuck Rey Palpatine That Was Dumb household, we are not going with that here. Honestly, Skywalker, Kenobi, anything but Palpatine. It would even be super cool if you went with the Iden Versio theory. Basically, there are so many cool theories and you should absolutely explore them. Only caveat is don't do Skywalker if you keep Rey as a love interest for Emery or Caedus for obvious reasons but we'll discuss love interests more later

› honestly I think I blocked out most of tRoS so I don't remember much but a time skip is absolutely acceptable. There were always time skips between episodes in the other two trilogies which is why I think it's okay to add or keep them here

› if you keep Hux as the spy, fucking commit to the bit, as I've said before. I don't mind that he was the spy as long as he's actually got a good motivation not "I hate Kylo Ren 🥺"

› not to keep saying this but if you keep those other Stormtroopers they run into, do not cheapen Finn's great moment of leaving the First Order by having this horde of others who did it first. He was the first. If you keep them, they followed in his footsteps, inspired by what he did and got out themselves, finding each other

› I think including holocrons would be an okay thing to keep because for being such a cool thing, they are so underrated. Like they look so cool and have a cool name and yeah, I think they should be used more

› none of that Rey stabbing Kylo and Leia saving him somehow thing. That was weird. I don't understand why that happened. Like I understand that they had to kill Leia somehow because Carrie died but... I'm still confused on what happened and how so don't do that

› though that being said, I did love the moment where Han showed up. Took me completely by surprise and made me cry all over again. So if you can, keep it. If not, I understand as I'm making you change things but I will be sad about it

› everyone who knows me knows that I believe in happy endings or no ending at all so things should get resolved happily. I won't say anything about how, mainly because, as established, I don't really remember tRoS and I would like to discuss it with whoever adopts the plot

› I think that wraps up plot (can you tell TFA is the only sequel movie I like?) so let's move on to other things

› like love interests!

› now, as you noticed, I listed Finn and Rey as the love interests but put that they could be changed. I think Finn and Emery would be cute but I am a Finn girlie so I always think that. That being said, I think Rey and Emery would also be cute. Initially, my idea was Finn × Emery and Jacen/Caedus × Rey as the better version of Reylo (🤢). I don't really know what other pairings you could do but this is obviously something we can discuss and workshop

› the title can also be changed but I would like to talk about it if you do as I want the title to be fitting for the story

› Emery and Jacen's mother can honestly be whoever you want. I don't really have any ideas on that front. If she wasn't dead before the academy was destroyed, she definitely was killed then though I think she should have died earlier as I like the idea of the twins always having known just Luke as their parent and no one else but up to you

› speaking of their mother, part of why I left it open is so you can connect this to any fics you already have for Luke. Obviously if the twins don't match the ethnicity of their mom, they need to be recast, but that's definitely something I would like to discuss so that we can recast appropriately as I am obviously willing to help. You can also just change their castings if you really want to but we have to discuss it if you do and they should look like twins and like Luke still

› I think that's it? Obviously there's some other stuff I didn't note down for spoiler reasons but I'll tell whoever adopts the plot that stuff and there honestly wasn't as much as I expected to want to actually omit as opposed to not having figured out with you yet!
