Chapter 9: Another One Wouldn't Hurt, Right?
Alone was sure taking his time. It had been an hour, and no sign of Alone. He probably got lost, or that's what Selozar assumed.
Selozar and Sorrow have been talking for that amount of time, Sorrow wasn't used to being treated with so much kindness, but she shrugged it off. She had been a slave for years, and seeing another slave gave her comfort.
"So, what caused you to come here?" Selozar asked, nervously. "Well, I don't know. I believe I was born into being a slave, and I just assume I'm human. But because of resent events I think otherwise, and believe I was kidnapped and brainwashed." Sorrow explained, not minding the question in the slightest.
"And why is your name Sorrow? Was it your birth name?" Selozar kept asking questions, but Sorrow didn't mind. It was something she never got to do, any excuse to communicate she'd take. "Well, we are given names based off our personalities, I was given the name Sorrow because that's the only emotion I feel..."
The room went silent, until a groan was heard next to Selozar. And no, somebody wasn't masturbating. "What the hell..." A familiar voice grumbled. "Albert!" Selozar quietly cheered, to which Albert hummed a yes in response.
"Is that your friend?" Sorrow meekly asked, Selozar felt surprised that he'd even be friends with Albert, and has no idea why Sorrow would suggest that. "I-I mean, kinda..." Selozar answered, embarrassed but unsure. "Yeah, of course we are." Albert answered, "What else would we be?"
"Boyfriends."
Selozar knew that voice from anywhere, "ULEANRA!" he screamed as laughter roared from the cage next to Sorrow. "How long have you been awake?!" Selozar asked, his face completely red. He had no idea why, I mean, he had no feelings like THAT for Albert! Did he? No, of course not, why even ask that?
"Longer then you have. I just didn't say anything. Then you and Sorrow began talking and I just enjoyed the conversation from an outside perspective, like a lonely bastard." Uleanra replies, snickering, "I was planning on waiting it out longer, but that was to good of a chance to butt in."
Sorrow was awkwardly laughing, as Selozar drowned in embarrassment. "A-Albert are you okay?" Selozar meekly asked. "Yeah, of course I am-" Albert states, his voice cracking.
The four sat in silence for a few minutes, before a large iron door opened, light seeping through as a dark figure blocking the light. The body was unrecognizable gender wise, but they were wearing a dark cloak.
"Who are you?" Sorrow asked, backing up in her cell. "The rest of the Zalcuses are gone. I've come to set you free." The voice spoke. It was muffled, but it sounded female. One by one, she unlocked the cages, as the rusty bars slowly swung open, she began to leave the room. "Wait!" Albert called out, "Who are you?"
"Why, I'm just an old friend." She responded, turning back and making eye contact with Albert. Albert faintly saw her smile, before running off. "Who... who was that?!" Selozar asked, leaving his cage. "No idea..."
Clinking was heard, along with growls of struggle. Uleanra, Albert, and Selozar looked back to Sorrow's cage to see her chained to the wall. "Oh shit!" Uleanra yelled, "Well Selozar, looks like we have to leave her here-" "No wait!"
The group turned back to Sorrow, desperation in her eyes as she continued to struggle to break loose, "Please! Don't leave me here! I don't want to die..." She choked back sobs. "Okay." Selozar replied, and walked over to look at the chains, "Yep. These need some sort of key, but maybe if you find a rock you could break it?"
Uleanra nodded, "Alright. Albert, you get it." "Why me?!" Albert exclaimed. "Well because I'm to lazy!" Uleanra argued back, crossing his arms, "Besides, you aren't the one who can get easily killed just by a branch latching onto the thing SLOWLY CHOKING ME TO DEATH!"
Albert sighed, "Fine." He turned to walk outside, "But you owe me!" Albert said before he stepped on something that made a little jingle sound. Albert stepped off of it, and saw keys on the ground. That woman must have dropped them while she fled. Albert leaned down to grab the keys.
"Oooooh! He's lining up for you Selozar!" Uleanra teased, causing Selozar to pounce on him and play fight him, "HEY! I don't like him like that, shut up!"
"Suuuure!"
"Uleanra I swear to the mother fucking lenny face poptart, I will lock you back in that cage!"
"What the hell's a 'lenny face poptart'?"
"First stupid thing that popped into my mind, dumbass! It was a joke!"
Albert heard the ruckus and sighed, and began to stand up straight with the keys in hand. "Will you two ever shut up?" He asked jokingly, a small smirk on his face. "Nah!" Uleanra replied, and continued to tease Selozar.
Albert ignored their fighting and then unlocked Sorrow from her chains. "Th-thank you so much..." She mumbled. "No problem, why would I leave somebody here to starve? That's so wrong!" Albert replied, and began to walk out.
"Settle down, we're on the move now." Albert yelled before walking out. Selozar and Uleanra stopped fighting and walked out, to find themselves in the wilderness. "Great. We're probably even farther from that town then we were originally."
"Actually... there's a small town about twenty minutes away from here, and I can only assume you come from there?" Sorrow explained, trying to be helpful. "Nah, I'm actually breaking Selozar, Uleanra, and now you, out from an abuser. That town is just a pit stop so we can rest." Albert explained, "But thank you for telling us! Do you know which way the town is?"
Sorrow's eyes began to sparkle, finally feeling useful for something. "Yes! I do! Please, follow me- If you want to..." The guys laughed, "Why wouldn't we want to follow you? You're literally the most helpful person here. Man, glad we took the time to let you out."
Sorrow blushed, but smiled, and began to lead the group to the town.
A few minutes passed of the group following Sorrow. "So Sorrow, do you have a favorite anything?" Albert asked, trying to start conversation. "Not really, I haven't had the chance to... well, try out those kinds of things." She explains, "If you could show me some things, I'd appreciate it! Only if you want to, though."
The group walked in silence for the rest of the time, with the occasional complaint from Uleanra or Albert about their feet hurting.
Eventually the group reaches the town, it was small, but it had everything they needed. "We made it!" Uleanra shouted in joy, dancing around everyone before tripping and almost falling. Selozar began to laugh, which for some reason, made Albert's heart skip a beat. He doesn't know why he felt so hypnotized by Selozar's laughter, but no matter. They need to get to a hotel and rest.
The group walked on the side walk, the faint smell off piss, weed, alcohol, and sex was in the air. It smelled like a dimmed down New Orleans (No, I do not live in New Orleans, it just stinks like hell). The four finally made it to a hotel that didn't smell like a homeless person, and walked in. In there was a tired looking guy, had to be at least 17 years old. Albert walked up to the counter and said a friendly 'Hello!'.
"Hi, would you like a room?" The man asked, trying not to pass out. "Yes sir, a room for four." the guy nodded, typing in something in a shitty computer, "How many nights sir?" "One."
He sighed, "Okay..." "Don't get the wrong idea! We just need some rest, we're not doing anything like... that." The worker began to laugh, "Wow, that's a first. Your room will be room 404, have a good time. Fortunately there's nobody next, above, or below you, so you won't be disturbed."
Albert handed the dude some cash and he returned with the key. "Thanks again!"
The four walked in the elevator, and pressed the 4th floor. The doors closed and they waited patiently, yet hoping for it to come sooner because the elevator smelt like weed. The elevator stopped, and the doors slid open. "Woo! It smells here." Uleanra comments as the other three walk to their room.
Albert unlocked the door to reveal a well kept hotel room. But there was one problem; it only had two beds.
"Well!" Uleanra started, "I call the recliner, Sorrow you have the bed, and Selozar and Albert... you work things out." Uleanra then went into the bathroom.
The three sat in silence. "You know, I'll take the floor, you two can take the beds." Sorrow compromised. "Wait no, I'll take the floor," Albert interrupted, "You two deserve to sleep in a decent bed." "But I don't want you to suffer on the floor!" Selozar complained.
The three argued it out until they concluded that Selozar and Albert would sleep in the same bed, and let Sorrow have her privacy in a bed to herself.
"You both don't have to do this to yourselves-" "Nah nah, you need your privacy."
Uleanra walked out of the bathroom, cords off his head, and him gasping air in relief. "Finally, it's off me..." He threw the lights on the ground and flopped into the recliner.
"Well, let's go to sleep, we have a long day ahead of us." Albert explained, turning off the hotel light and flopped into the bed. Sorrow got into the blankets and Albert and Selozar got into the same bed, five feet apart 'cause their not gay. Maybe. It isn't five feet, like one and a half, but you get the fucking joke.
"Good night." Uleanra mumbles from the recliner. "Good night" Selozar responds, nuzzling himself into the sheets, while trying not to blush.
Tomorrow's going to be a long day...
