Chapter 19

I just like Christmas songs. So deal with it and listen to it.

Annabeth

It's been weeks since Percy has ever been seen. Its been weeks since I started breaking down.

"Annabeth, you can't stay in your room all day sobbing your heart out." Piper said, sitting on the edge of my bed.

I stuffed my head in my pillow, and continued sobbing. He couldn't be gone. But his funeral was tomorrow.

"Annabeth, instead of grieving, let's have a girls night. Then you'll be ready for tomorrow's funeral!" Hazel said excited.

"Yea! We could go to my place." Piper nodded.

"No." I mumbled.

"Cmon Annie! Don't be a party pooper." Piper groaned in annoyance.

"Fine." I lifted my head from my pillow that was soaked in tears, and used my sleeves to wipe away tears.

My heart was shattered to pieces. Everyone believed he was dead. His funeral was tomorrow, and I couldn't stop myself from crying.

"Let's go before Helen comes home." I said and quickly got off the bed. I grabbed my bag and started stuffing random stuff inside.

When I was ready, Piper and Hazel both helped me exit out of my house. We walked farther away from the house, until Piper stopped and pulled out her phone.

"Hey Jase, could you pick me up and take me to my house?" Piper said, talking to her phone.

"Thanks, Jason." Piper continued, telling him the address.

We waited like idiot onto the sidewalk, until a blue Chevrolet rolled into view.

"Get in, girls." Jason smiled as Piper sat next to the driver's seat.

I climbed to the back of the car as Jason drove towards Pipers house.

When we reached her house, Hazel and I got out of the car.

"thanks for the ride, Jason." Piper smiled then kissed his cheek.

Jason's face went red. "Y-yeah. Y-you're we-welcome." He stuttered.

Piper smirked as she closed the door behind her.

Once we got in the house, we saw as Jason drove away.

"Dad, I'm home!" Piper yelled.

Her house was a mansion. Everything had a wide space and her furniture was more expensive than my house.

"Alright, I'm in my office!" I heard her dad yell from a room.

"Cmon girls." Piper lead us up the stair case, and into her room.

"Alright. First thing is first, we need ice cream. Stay here." Piper left the room, leaving Hazel and I behind.

I sat on Piper's huge bed, and sighed.

"He's out there somewhere. He might be lost or...or-"

"Annabeth. Calm down. Deep breaths." Hazel soothed, placing her hands on my shoulders.

"I can't." Tears sprung to my eyes, as Hazel hugged me tight.

"I have got the ice cream! Now sherbet or...Oh." Piper put the ice cream down, and joined the hug.

"Thanks guys." I sniffled as they let go.

Piper smiled at me and handed me the sherbet ice cream box, with a spoon. I lightly smiled back as I began digging into the ice cream.

"Mmm. This is good ice cream." I said as I continued taking spoonfuls.

"Woah, slow down. You don't want a brain freeze." Hazel laughed.

I didn't care. I continued eating my ice cream, savoring the delicious flavor.

After we finished eating ice cream, we were deciding which movie to watch.

"Finding Dory! Let's watch that movie!" Piper pressed on the movie, but I wasn't smiling any more.

"Percy always smelled like the ocean. And blood." Tears got to my eyes once again.

"I'm so sorry Annabeth, I didn't know-"

"It's fine." I looked out the enormous window in Piper's room.

"How about Mean Girls?" Hazel suggested, smiling at her idea.

That got me to smile.

+*+*+*+*

After watching Mean Girls, we decided to head to bed.

I didn't feel like sleeping, but after a lot of convincing from Piper, I said I would try.

It was midnight. But I couldn't sleep. Piper and Hazel fell asleep an hour ago, but each time I tried sleeping, my eyes refused to close.

My mind traced back to Percy Jackson. The mysterious shadow kid. His bright sea-green eyes glowing, and his wavy untamed jet-black hair.

As I began thinking more about his facial features, my eyes reluctantly began to close, dreaming about a specific person.

+*+*+*+*

It was the day.

And I wasn't ready.

I was back at my house, getting a ride from Jason again.

I was already dressed, in a black short skirted dress, with Thalia' leather jacket to top it off. Sally was going to pick me up for her son's funeral, but I wasn't ready.

I stared back at my reflection in my mirror.

I felt broken. I felt as if a huge chunk of myself was buried alive.

I quickly wiped away the tears, then walked out of my room, away from the mirror.

I walked down stairs, then waited at the door.

"Where the fuck do you think you're going? What are you, a goth?" Helen walked into the room, looking at me weirdly.

"There's a funeral for my friend." I said calmly, trying not to start arguing with Helen.

"Who the fuck said you could go to this funeral?" Helen said, raising an eyebrow.

"I said I will be attending the funeral, because it's for my best friend. So fuck off." I spat and walked out the door.

I'll just wait outside. Away from the house.

I walked down the sidewalk, not daring to turn back.

I stood at the end of the street in my neighborhood and called Sally.

"Hello?" I heard Sally's broken voice at the other line.

"Hi Sally. Just letting you know I'm at the corner of the street of the neighborhood." I said, my voice quivering.

"Alright."

Sally ended the call.

She was affected by this as much as me.

Tears flowed down my cheeks. I can't survive my life without Percy.

Soon, Sally's car drove up, and I quickly got in.

"Here." Sally smiled and handed me a tissue.

"T-thanks." I took the tissue, wiping away tears that would just keep flowing.

"Look, sweetie. We are all affected by this. But just know, Percy wouldn't want us to mourn over him. He would want us to stay strong, and to continue our lives without him. Trust me, I would know." Sally said, now her own tears flowing down.

The ride was quiet when we got to the funeral.

The casket would be empty though. With no remains of Percy. Which broke me even more.

As we climbed out of the car, I took Sally's arm and linked it with mine. I tried smiling at her as we walked to his grave.

Not a lot of people were there, since Percy didn't have much family. But the group from school was there, waving me over with Sally.

As speakers began to talk, I noticed a strange man in the back.

He was wearing a hat, with a dark grey jacket on.

He was looking down, and I saw his hands wipe his eyes.

He looked up, and caught me staring.

He had sea green eyes and he had black strands of hair sticking out of his hat.

My eyes widened since he looked exactly like Percy.

But his eyes were filled with tears and sorrow. He looked at me sympathetically, before turning away from my sight. He stood quietly as Sally began talking about Percy.

After half an hour, Sally was fully out sobbing.

I helped her calm down, handing tissues and giving comforting hugs.

She continued talking about Percy, shedding few tears after two words or more.

But then a limping figure with a red stained shirt came into view, and came to the front of the people.

"Man, my funeral sucks."

That voice was familiar.

I ran up to him, and there he was.

In all his glory.

Percy Jackson. Alive. Not dead.

Shot several times, stabbed, who knows?

And all he said was, "Man, my funeral sucks."

I couldn't believe it.

But then he collapsed on the floor, gasping, clutching his sides.

Everyone stood there, dumb founded.

"Don't stand there! CALL AN AMBULANCE!" Sally yelled as she knelt down next to Percy.

I knelt down next to her, watching as his eyes closed.

Percy was alive.

But possibly not for long.
