Chapter 14

Just thought this song would go good with this chapter.

Annabeth

The next following week, Percy returned to school. But not alone.

As I entered the school in the morning, I looked around for Percy. Helen has grounded me for a month, meaning I always have to be home before 4 o'clock.

As I searched the halls, Piper saw me and waved over. I sighed and walked towards Piper.

"Oh my god! Are you okay? We heard about it on the news!" Piper hugged me, while the other showed up behind her.

"I'm glad you're back safe." Frank nodded towards me.

"Thanks guys. Has anyone seen Percy?" I asked.

They all frowned.

"What? Is something wrong?" I asked, looking at Piper.

"Guys, she has to know. Let's show her." Piper sighed and looked at the group.

"I have to know what? Show me what?" I asked.

I was confused.

"Annabeth, promise me you won't be heartbroken." Piper looked at me in the eye.

"I can't promise anything until you tell me what is hapenning!" I yelled.

"Alright, you asked for it. Come on." Piper lead me through the halls, towards our first period class.

When we entered, I found what Piper was talking about. I couldn't help but stare at the two. How Percy happy is.

Tears swelled in my eyes, and I fought back so they wouldn't spill.

Percy was sitting in the corner of the room, smiling at a frizzy red haired girl. She had emerald eyes, and she was talking about something, then Percy laughed.

"Annabeth, I told you." Piper placed a hand on my shoulder.

"We went through a terrible thing down in that basement. I know it's been a week, but how could he just move on? After everything-" I stopped as Percy started playing with the girl's frizzy red hair.

"Stop it Percy!" She giggled and Percy just smiled.

"To your seats, slass!" Mrs. Craig walked in the room.

I sat across the room, far away from Percy. The group sat around me, sending apologies.

How could he?

Wait.

He isn't your boyfriend.

So why should you care?

He's not yours. You were never dating.

But we went through hell together.

I wiped away sall tears as the class began. Percy's eyes never leaving the girls' hair.

"Attention class. We have a new student. Rachel, would you please come up and introduce yourself?" Mrs. Craig asked.

"Sure thing." The girl got up and stood in the front of the class.

"Hey, guys. My names Rachel Elizabeth Dare. I recently moved here, and I'm happy to join you guys." Rachel smiled, then went back to sit down.

"Alright, now back to the subject," Mrs. Craig continued the lesson, and my eyes have never left Percy's as he continued enjoying Rachel's company.

-----

"Hey! Annabeth!" Percy called from the other side of the hall, after I stormed out of Chemistry, walking towards lunch.

"You're fast today. What's wrong?" He asked.

I turned around to face Percy. His sea green eyes digging into my gray ones.

"Percy-" I started, but spotted Rachel behind Percy, running towars us.

"Hey! You must be Percy's friend. I'm Rachel. He talk a lot about you." Rachel winked.

"Annabeth, I know our lunch table is crowded, but do you mind if Rachel sits with us?" He asked.

Hot red boiling anger surged through my veins. He wants to invite this random girl he just met to OUR table?!

The nerve!

"Ask someone else." I snapped at continued to walk towards lunch.

I slammed open the doors of the lunch room. EVeryone stared at me. But I didn't care.

I angrily sat by Hazel and stared at the table.

"I'm sorry did I interrupt your lunch?" I snapped at the lunch room.

Everyone continued eating.

"Rachel?" Haze asked, placing her hand on my shoulder.

Suddenly, a worried Percy came in, with a Rachel.

"Hey guys. Is it okay if Rachel sits with us?" He asked the table.

"Sure." Frank nodded.

I glared at Frank, and he silently apologized.

Percy sat by Rachel in the end of the table.

"Hey, Annabeth, are you okay? You seemed-" Percy started.

"I'm perfectly fine." I interrupted him.

Rachel seemed uncomfortable.

Piper was smirking.

Percy frowned.

"So, Rachel, what brought you to New York?" Piper asked, picking on her food with a fork.

"Oh, my father is Detective. They needed him here, and well, my dad was interrogating Percy when he was at the hospital, and I was with him. So, we became friends." Rachel smiled.

"How nice." I muttered.

"Annabeth, can you tell me what's bothering you?" Percy asked, his eyebrows furrowed.

"Nothing!" I said in frustration.

"Then why are you mad?" He asked.

"I'm not!" I yelled back.

"Annabeth, you can tell me anything." Percy smiled at me.

"Annabeth, Percy is a good friend. He just wants to help you. So, what's the problem?" Rachel interrupted.

"You're the problem!" I exploded.

"Rachel? Just a new friend I made? Are you jealous?" Percy stood up, defending Rachel.

"No! But, just after everything we went through, you just go off with this random girl from the hospital!" I also stood up, glaring at Percy.

"You can't chose what friends I make, Annabeth!" Percy glared back.

"Guys, calm down-" Piper started.

"If I want to be friends with Rachel, than I can. I haven't had friends for a long time! This is my chance." Percy yelled.

"After everything, you act like everything is fine! I'm not fine! I'm distressed! You didn't go through what I did!" I yelled.

"I know, Annabeth. But it isn't like we were dating! We're just friends! And I can have Rachel as a friend if I want to!" Percy yelled.

That broke me. My heart shattered.

Why am I being affected by this?

"You're right. We were nothing special. We were nothing important. Just friends." Tears streamed down my eyes as I got up from my chair and ran away from the cafeteria.

"You're so stupid!" I heard Piper yell.

I ran into the girls bathroom, and looked at the mirror.

What is happening to Percy?

Why is he so evolved around Rachel?

He was abused, and Gabe is out there.

Why is he acting like everything is normal?

Luke is in jail.

That's all what matters.

Percy and I were never something special.

We can't be something special.

We're just friends.

Piper and Hazel came rushing into the bathroom.

"Oh. My Gods." Hazel rushed to me, and hugged me.

Piper seemed mad. She was red, with hot boiling anger.

"He's an idiot! Blind! Stupid mother fu-" Hazel glared at Piper.

"Fine. Fine. I won't curse. But I swear I'll kill him." Piper hugged me.

"Everything will be okay. We don't need Percy. He wants Rachel, then fine. Who needs him." Piper soothed, hugging me closer.

"Yeah." I croaked.

"There is a ton of hot boys out there. Better than Percy. Just don't take Jason." Piper earned a chuckle from me.

"Or Frank!" Hazel added.

"Thanks guys." I wiped my tears as Piper backed away.

The bell rang a we exited the bathroom. We planned to ignore Percy and Rachel at all costs.

But that was easier said than done.

I hate this. But we have to deal with this. It will make sense in the end, I promise. Just stick with me here. More Perachel in the next chapter. Cri. (No offense to those Perachel shippers or people who just love Rachel, but........FUCK YOU RACHEL!)

PEACE OUT
