~4~ The one with the chocolate fishes and accidents

~Kritika~

I felt grass crumple under my feet as I walked forward in awe.

Is this... Wonderland?

There was chocolate everywhere. And by everywhere, I really did mean everywhere. It was like a rip off straight out of Willy Wonka's chocolate factory. Maybe even better.
One thing was odd though. The waterfall cascading down from between the mountains was the only thing normal.

Just then, I saw something move in the water. Before I knew it, a shoal of fishes  swam into view. Chocolate fishes. I wonder if they're edible, I thought to myself in awe as I saw them gracefully swim out of view.

If this is a dream, I never want to wake up.

Suddenly the ground started shaking and I fell backwards. And just like that, it all vanished.

"Wake up! Wake up!" Stacey chanted, shaking me furiously.

I opened one eye with all the energy I could muster and glared at her. Why is she such a morning person?

As I continued glaring daggers at her, thinking of a thousand ways of impaling her with my alarm clock. Death by an alarm clock, that would certainly cause a new revolution in the field of crime.

She tilted her head looking at me innocently, though I didn't miss the sly hint of a smile on her face.

"You.. You." I stuttered, not able to think of an insult good enough "..murderer." I accused, pointing my index finger at her accusingly.

"Murderer?"

"You murdered all the chocolate fishes." I mumbled, rubbing my face

"A little louder please?" she snapped her fingers.

"Nothing." I grumbled "couldn't you think of a less heart attack inducing way of waking me up."

"Sorry." she giggled, not sounding sorry at all. I narrowed my eyes at her "Oh and guess what?"

"What?"

"You forgot?" she questioned

"I was supposed to remember something?" I questioned, frowning.

She raised an eyebrow and patted the tiny bag in her arm "We were planning on going somewhere today weren't we? We have to visit--"

"Ah, crap." I slapped my forehead, getting off the bed as fast as I could, hearing Stacey laugh at the back as I slammed the bathroom door.

********

I let my feet sink into the cool sand of the beach. Yes, beach.

We had gone to deliver a package to one of my aunt's close friends we lived just an hour and a half worth of train journey away. I'd only been there a few times in the past year, but Stacey had been there quite a few times. She used to visit them quite often with her mom and dad, who're my aunt and uncle.

One of the times they'd somehow spotted the ocean poking from between the trees at the one of stations.

Since then, they always visited the beach whenever they made this trip. It was like their private ritual.

Though I'd been here before, it never ceased to take me by awe. The beach wasn't too huge, most of it was hidden by a cove overhead.

It wasn't very popular either, mainly because of its its size. It wasn't your typical kind of beach either. It had patches of grass and pebbles, more than sand. So, basically, it was mostly deserted. Not completely though, we managed to run into few people every single time we got here.

I spotted a family having a picnic of some sorts at one end in a small grass patch. I caught the mother's eye and she smiled at me. I smiled back and waved slightly. They had laid down a blanket and had a picnic basket of some sort perched on the rock beside them.

I then heard male laughter from behind me and turned back. The other end had people too.

They were fairly far away, but I could tell they were boys, not older than me and they were playing a game of some sorts. I wrinkled my nose at the strewn bottles lying around them as they fumbled around in a drunken stupor.

I quickly looked away, not wanting to catch their eye as well.

"I'm going for a swim." Stacey announced, getting off the blanket we'd laid and grabbing her bag.

"Don't you think it's a bit cold for that?" I raised my eyebrows in emphasis.

She stretched, ignoring me. I picked up a fistful of sand and threw it at her "Oi!" she exclaimed, aiming a blow at my head having me duck right in time "okay, you're right. I'm just gonna take one dip."

"You're going to fall sick." I warned

She rolled her eyes "Oh shush, you. Besides, it's not windy today. I promise I won't be gone for long." she said

"We're leaving in some time." I reminded her "our next train is in.." I glanced at my watch "..forty five minutes."

"Okay, mother." she said, rolling her eyes "I'll be back. I'm going to the other side as it's less rocky there, okay?"

I nodded, saluting at her. She sighed as I grabbed my novel "Why wouldn't you learn to swim? I hate leaving you here alone. Come along."

"Stacey.."

"Please?" she pouted "I'll teach you. Come on." she coaxed

"I'm fine here." I said, opening the book and heard her sigh again. I looked up after a second and saw her trudge away throwing a small bye over her shoulder.

I smiled, glad that she hadn't forced me.

You know, one in five adults in the UK cannot swim. That makes for around nine million people. And I was one among them.

I never saw the need of learning it. It wasn't like I was hydrophobic, I just never thought it was important. Still don't.

Stacey was nowhere in sight just like she'd promised and the family seemed to be leaving as they'd wrapped up everything. As they walked away, I sighed, looking down at my watch. Twenty minutes more..

I decided to quickly finish the chapter I was on before going around looking for the idiot who was my cousin.

I was just turning the page when I felt a presence loom over me. Expecting it to be Stacey I looked up but I saw a stranger looking at me. I squinted and realised it was one of the teenage boys from the group. He had flaming red hair with equally red eyes. Warning signals went off in my head.

I quickly sat up, awkwardly. I cleared my throat and crossed my arms "Yeah?"

"Excuse me?" he slurred, seemingly not having heard me.

I sighed through my mouth "Yes?" I repeated as politely as I could. His gaze was making me uncomfortable. Him being drunk just increased the uncomfortableness a thousandfold.

He stared at me with glassy eyes and I awkwardly stared right back "Sorry." he muttered. Okay, that's it, I thought as I stood up shakily.

"Wait. What are y--?" I let out a little yell as my world suddenly turned upside down. I was too shocked to respond.

It wasn't until I saw the ocean drawing closer did I realise were he was going and I regained my senses and screamed bloody murder.

"WHAT THE--? PUT ME DOWN!" I yelled, feeling a little dizzy  "I can't swi--"

I didn't get time to complete that sentence as I felt coldness hit me like a ton of bricks and I splashed around in the water, panicking.

"You idiot." I tried to say but all that came out was an inaudible cry. The water was cold. Icy, even. I coughed, splashing my hands around imitating a person swimming. Or at least, I tried to. I could tell I was failing horribly.

Dear god, if I survive this, I promise I'll learn swimming. No more procrastinating.

"Sorry! It was a dare." I heard him slur, and then nothing. I coughed opening my eyes, only to see he was nowhere in sight.

Dare? So that's what they were playing earlier, truth and dare. It had never liked that game before, now I had a valid reason for my hatred.

I sputtered and thrashed around in the water screaming for help. The water was pretty shallow but still enough for me to possibly drown. My voice wasn't audible to my own ears as the crashing waves drowned it. I cursed my luck and tried making my way towards the shore.

Don't panic. Don't panic I chanted in my head like a prayer.

Oh, Who am I kidding?

Goodbye world,

I'm sorry that I never told you I had a crush on you, Aman.

Natasha, I accidentally took your textbook home on the last day of 7th grade and never returned it, sorry.

Sorry Dad, I accidentally burned your favourite shirt while ironing it and when you asked me where it was, I said it that the dog ripped it to pieces. I love you, Dad.

You too, Mom.

I heard someone yell in alarm. I could tell it wasn't Stacey because it sounded like a male . Or maybe the water had dulled my senses. Whatever they case was, I could tell it was too late. They were too late. I sunk deeper and deeper, my vision blurring.

And with that, everything went black.

I hope you like it :)

And tell me something.. Should I do the next Chapter as a Liam's P.O.V? Idek.

Anyway, Have a great day.. or night.. or whatever xD

Cote

Stay Beautiful
