~12~ The one with dismembered heads and sleep walking
Hiya snowflakes :D
How are you all?
The weather here is awesome so I'm extra happyyy :3
And I had no school today so I thought, why not update for my lovely munchkins? ;)
So here it is.
P.S. If you're standing while reading this I suggest you grab a chair and brace yourself for the impact.
~Liam~ (I hope nobody fainted)
I set the cup of steaming coffee on the bedside table and quickly clambered into my cozy blanket. Reaching for my bag, I yanked my laptop out of it.
Insomnia wasn't new to me. There were days when I would hardly sleep a wink. Guess my body was just used to it.
All the practice and rehearsals did that to you. When we had gotten ourselves a recording deal, we hadn't thought much about it. Leaving our families behind was the hardest part.
We were yet to release any music
Since sleep was not going to come to me any time sooner, I decided to kill time by watching a movie.. Or two.
I quickly opened Netflix and scrolled down the page, taking a sip of my coffee.
Fifty Shades of Grey.
I almost laughed out loud at the the co-incidence. I would never admit it aloud but it was fun teasing her. She reacted exactly like Anna would when we were younger. The same Anna who blocked me away in high school. The same Anna who had to move halfway across the world with her family.
Back at home I often heard our mother talking on the phone. I always plugged in my headphones and pretended I couldn't care less. Now when I think back at it, it was very childish of me.
"You still like her don't you?"
I closed my eyes for a moment and sighed. I don't need this drama in my life now..
I opened my eyes when I heard an advertisement play on the screen.
My eyes zeroed on the bunch of horror movies at the bottom of the screen.
A scary movie at the dead of the night? Was it a good idea? Come on lad, be a man. What's there to lose? My conscience urged.
I pondered on that for a second and then shrugged my shoulders, giving in.
What was there to lose?
My eyes skimmed over the movie titles.
Child's Play? Nope
The Conjuring? Not again.
Final Destination? Watched that.
The Exorcist? I'm not that brave.
My eyes then landed on a very unfamilar title.
Silence of the Lambs? Sounds Interesting..
(A/N For all my who do not know, It is one of the scariest movies ever made on the life of a dangerous insane serial killer, Buffalo Bill. And..I totally sounded like Wikipedia back there.)
I clicked on it as an involuntary yawn escaped my lips. I groped around the mattress for my phone and quickly unlocked it.
3:00 already?
I searched my bag for my head phones and realized I had lent them to Louis in the morning. Shit. Looks like I have to manage without them.
I relaxed back on my bed as I pressed 'Play'.
******
Half an hour and a few sips of coffee later, I was clutching onto my blanket, deeply engrossed into the film. The killer, Buffalo Bill, looked downright sadistic and creepy.
Goosebumps rose all over my body whenever he stared at the camera. It was like he was staring at my freaking soul. His maniacal laugh was going to stay imprinted on my mind forever.
Note to self: Google Buffalo Bill and make sure he is dead. Officially dead.
I needed the reassurance of his 'non existence' to sleep in peace.
My coffee mug was long forgotten as I stayed hooked to my laptop screen.
Starling, the protagonist, arrived at some sort of hospital. As soon as she entered the dark halls, I heard a door creak open. Pretty clearly. I squinted at the screen, confused.
Then it dawned on me. I realised where the sound came from.
My room. My door, to be precise.
Holy Shit.
Gulping, I looked up just in time to see a head materialize into the dimly lit room.
A flipping head.
My heart was in my throat by then. I tried to scream but no sound came out. I stayed frozen, staring in horror at the dismembered head floating in my doorway.
As soon as my mind regained control over my body, I patted around searching for the light switch with shaky hands.
I quickly flicked on the lights and turned back to my door, preparing for the worst.
"Jesus Christ, Kritika! You scared the daylights out of me." I scolded harshly, my hand on my throat.
"Ma'am I swear I just need one more minute."
Wait, what?
I got up and made my way towards her cautiously. As I stood in front of her I realized her eyes were closed.I cocked my head in confusion and waved my hand in front of her face. Nothing.
This could mean only one thing. Wow.. who would've thought?
I bit the inside of my cheek to avoid bursting out laughing.
"But.. no don't take away my answer sheet. No! Please, I swear just give me a few more minutes. No! Okay just one minute." she bargained to think air.
By that point, I didn't know whether to be horrified or humoured. Maybe both.
"Thank you so much." she cried "..my paper.. take it. WAIT." she yelled all of a sudden causing me to jump back in fright "I didn't write my name on it! Just give me one minute, please? I.. I know you already gave me time but.. THIS IS NOT FAIR! I just need to write my name."
I sucked in a deep breath and approached her cautiously. I protected my nose just in case she decided to punch that. It was still sore from when Louis punched it. I placed my hand on her shoulders and manoeuvred her towards the bed. As soon as she plopped down, her face fell and she started sniffing.
I just stood frozen in my position not knowing how to handle this. She opened her mouth to speak.
"That teacher is so unfair. I'm never going to pass now. Gonna stay in 8th.. FOREVER.
8th? Like Grade 8?
This is record worthy.
"Ma'am. Give me my answer sheet back right now." she said in a low menacing voice "Give it." she snarled.
I realized that she was talking to me. And she wanted an answer. God help me, are all sleep walkers like this?
"Take it." I said immeditely realizing how stupid I sounded.
"Sure?" she said in a sweet voice and tumbled face first into my pillow. If this had been anywhere else, I wouldn't laughed. But right then, I was beyond horrified.
"Uh huh." I said my voice trembling. This was worse than any horror movie.
She let out a little 'hmm' and sighed.
I watched her breath rise and fall, as she cuddled into my pillow. I huffed out a laugh and shook my head at her sleeping self. This girl was a riot. Enough said.
She was spread eagled on my bed so there was no way I could sleep there. This left me with only one option.
******
I grabbed spare pillows and my blanket and I made my way over to the nearest empty room.
Careful not to make a sound, I nudged open the room door with my shoulder and threw them on the empty bed.
I re-entered my room, switching off the light and placing my laptop back into its bag.
She stirred in her sleep and curled up into a ball probably feeling cold. I grabbed the duvet and threw it lightly over her and quietly exited the room.
I stopped at the door and turned back, locking it. I let out a small sigh of relief. That would keep her from sleep walking out of the room and scaring the boys. Or falling down the stairs.
I plopped onto the bed, exhausted. The movie was long forgotten. I'd had enough adventure for one night. And no horror movie could compare. It was like I just.. experienced one.
Flicking off the bedside lamp I closed my eyes, letting sleep take over me.
~Kritika~
~ 4 Hours later ~
I woke up to the sun peeking through the pale white curtains. Letting out a small yawn as I got up and stretched, letting out a happy sigh.
I had a very weird dream last night. I couldn't exactly remember what it was, but I do remember it being strange.
It was like it was at the back of my head, but I couldn't just grasp it. Funny because I remember it being as clear a picture. Only, I don't remember what the picture was about. Our mind does the strangest things sometimes.
After a few more lazy minutes, I got up and headed towards the bathroom.
I splashed some water onto my face, it's coolness shooing away the remnants of sleep from my body.
I reached for the toothbrush that Liam gave me last night and brought my hand back in confusion. That's weird, I'm pretty sure he gave me a blue toothbrush and the only toothbrush in the bathroom was red in color.
"That's weird." I shrugged to my reflection "Can't really trust my memory now can we?" I snickered "let's get that toothpaste shall we?" I nodded. I then realised I had just conversed with my reflection. Oh well, let's just hope no one saw that.
"Where is it now?" I muttered, opening the cabinet above the sink. It was full of other stuff. Shaving products, hair gel.. Still no toothpaste though.
Looks like Liam forgot to give me toothpaste, I thought to myself. No shit Sherlock, my sub conscience snarkily remarked.
I headed out of the bathroom towards the guest room door. I halted mid step, letting my hand hover over the doorknob. Would he be awake by now?
I glanced at the wall clock behind me. Half past eight. Not too early.
I quickly formulated a plan in my mind. Go to Liam's room and wake him up. Get the toothpaste from him and then voila! Mission accomplished. I know I could very well head back without brushing, but I couldn't bear morning breaths.
"Then I can head back home and see Stacey." I muttered to myself "and.. oh crap. Stacey!"
I cursed myself as I fumbled around for my phone, pretty sure I had a ton of missed calls and messaged. My heart dropped when I couldn't find it.
No no no. This can't be happening
I'd most definitely placed at on the bedside table. I groaned, slapping forehead. Might as well go outside now for I had a good enough, valid reason to disturb Liam now.
I twisted the doorknob. It wouldn't budge.
Maybe it's stuck, I thought to myself.
I tried yanking the door open again. It stayed stubbornly intact.
I stepped back from the door and let out a small sigh. Desperate times call for desperate measures.
I let out a little war cry like in 300 and launched myself towards the door. I pulled at the doorknob with all the strength I had.
I gave it one last yank and it sprung free from the door causing me to fall back to the floor on my backside. Rubbing my bruised butt, I stared in horror at the doorknob in my hand.
Uh, Houston we have a problem, my sub conscience remarked.
No shit, Sherlock.
