One place his parents sent him to used electroshock as part of their 'treatment.' He was fourteen when he endured it, but they had no idea he was going through it. When they learned they pulled him out of it. He misunderstand most of it and it added to the rift, distance between them. He thought they were afraid of him.

He views Alfred as his jailer, the buzzkill but they care about each other.

Thomas actually went to Med school doing extremely well on the MCATS, and other exams before he decided to drop out. But in emergencies he shows his knowledge.

He joined a gang, earning their trust just so he could tear them apart from the inside... The members weren't seen again.
