Going "Home"

Trevor balls the paper up and throws it in a random direction. "Start everything and get her on her way to Cutter's. I'll meet you there. I need to grab a few things from the house." Trevor begins to walk away from me, but I grab his arm. "What?" He snaps. I let go of his arm and look at him with a little disbelief. He realizes what he did and turns to face me. "I'm sorry I snapped, but we need to get things moving, quickly. If he doesn't have proof that I'm doing at least something, he'll take charge and you'll be the first thing he gets rid of."

"I thought your father was dead?" I ask, confused.

Trevor sighs. "Not dead, retired. I don't have time to explain. Just get to Cutter's. Tell him you're completely healed, but that I'm sending a few guys to watch you for a few days until I'm sure you're completely fine." I nod at him and he pulls me into a hug. I wrap my arms around his torso and feel his lips on my hair. "You'll do beautifully Alice. I trust you." He pulls me away from him at arm's length. Before he leaves, he gives me a short kiss. I watch him get into his SUV and drive towards the house.

"Alice, we need to go." James says from behind me. I nod and turn to follow him to the garage. He opens the door to yet another SUV and I climb into the passenger seat.

The entire way there I'm silent. James tries telling me that once the guys are there it won't be that big of a problem for me, and that I'll only have to tell them the right places to go. I nod, but don't say a word. We drive up to the gated entrance and James says he has me with him. It opens slowly and we pull through moments later.

"Trevor should be here soon. When he does get here, neither of you can act as if anything is going on between you two, or else Cutter will get suspicious." I nod my head and stare at the familiar house before me. "Are you okay Alice?" He asks with a tone of nervousness in his voice.

"Yeah. I'm fine. Let's go ahead and go in. Trevor can join us inside." I open my door and step out.

"We should really wait for him." James says from inside the car.

"Then he really should have come with us." I say as I close the door behind me.

James rushes to catch up with me and walks behind me. I watch as a brown car pulls up the driveway and two men get out, Gas and Brake. They come to walk with us, and also walk directly behind me. By the time I reach the door, I look as though I have three bodyguards. Two knocks later and the door opens revealing a girl about my age that I don't recognize. "My name is Alice. I live here. Right next to Desire's room." She nods her head and moves aside for me. I walk down the hallway and towards Cutter's office. There's someone standing outside, another face I don't know.

"I'm sorry, but he isn't taking visitors right now." The man says as he stares at me.

"I'm sorry, but I don't care." I move towards the door and he holds his hand in front of me. Gas and Brake growl, literally growl at the man. I turn to them and they stop. "Now I don't think you know who I am, but I will allow you this one chance to step aside. Waste it, and you will regret it." His eyes show no sign of fear, letting me know that he really doesn't have a clue as to who I am.

"I was told not to move from this spot, and not to let anyone in." He sounds as if he is going to go on, but I pull the knife I have hidden in the base of the plant outside this door, I put it there months ago, and place it against his neck.

"You were saying?" I apply a small amount of pressure on the tip of the knife and he leans away, now completely terrified.

His body moves to the side of the door and he gestures to it with his hands. "Go ahead. I'm sorry I held you back." I place the knife in my shoe before opening the door and walking in.

"I said I didn't want any disturbances Tyler." Cutter lifts his head to see me, and a flash of happiness fills his face, but then he remembers that I'm supposed to hate him and he turns it to a scowl, hopefully the others didn't notice. "What are you doing in here Alice?"

He looks back down at his papers, acting to not care about my presence. I walk up to his desk and take a seat in one of the chairs. "Trevor allowed me to leave, but wants a few of his men to stay with me for a few days to make sure I'm alright."

"No." Cutter doesn't even look up from his papers as he says this and I roll my eyes.

"It isn't something you can argue Cutter. Trust me, I tried." I say glaring at Gas and Brake.

Cutter looks up from his papers and looks at the three men behind me. "Are you talking about these three?" He asks, not really caring.

"No, just the two." I say pointing at Gas and Brake. "He just came to drop me off. Why he's still here, I don't know."

"I'm still here, because Trevor has business with you Cutter." Cutter ignores him and looks at me.

"I don't have time to entertain Trevor's fantasies about taking my place. Go to your room. I will come see you and we will discuss "this" later." He waves his hand at Gas and Brake nonchalantly. "You can tell Trevor that I will speak to him when I'm dead and cold, and that I'll come haunt him for driving me to my grave early."

"Not early enough, obviously." Trevor walks through the door and sits down beside me. I ignore him, and he seems to ignore me. "What's she still doing here?" Trevor asks Cutter. "Letting a woman say what happens in your office, Cutter? You're weaker than I thought."

"Alice, I told you to get out, so get out." I scoff at him, but stand anyways. I walk towards the door, but he stops me. "Oh, and change out of that. You look like a man." I take a deep breath and walk out.

***Trevor Bane***

Cutter watches her leave, obviously staring at her ass. Once the door closes he turns to look at me. "She has a fantastic ass, you have to admit." He leans back in his seat. "Just another thing I'll have that you never will."

Oh if you only knew. I shrug my shoulders. "She whines twenty-four seven, and is always complaining that it's either too hot or too cold. I can barely get any work done with her around."

He nods, but a smirk creeps onto his face. "What did you do to shut her up?"

I raise an eyebrow at him. "I told her to leave me alone." I ignore his disappointed looks, pervert, and slam a stack of papers on his desk.

"What's this?" He asks as he picks up the papers.

"They're pictures." I say while he files through them.

He stops on one and I think I know what it is. "That would be Alice."

He looks up at me confused. "Yeah? So?"

"Do you see who else is there?" I ask in a bored voice.

"It's you, but I don't see the relevance. She's been under your custody for months. This could have been taken at any time." He says, obviously he's good at acting.

"Look at the time stamp Cutter." He pulls the picture closer and at the corner. It takes about two seconds for him to figure out he's wrong.

"That isn't you." I nod my head. "That's your father." I nod again and he lowers the photo from in front of his face. "How?"

"Her face is different than it was then. It was before she ran away from home." I pause, hoping he'll catch on. "I didn't realize it at first either. She looks so different then she did back then. So much older, and less naive." Still, he doesn't seem to understand. "She's Slaughter Reed's daughter. His wife's daughter." His face turns angry.

"Her mother was one of his sluts. She had no say here, and her mother was most definitely not his wife." I cross my arms and lean back in the seat. "His wife and children were murdered. You know that. You should know that better than anyone."

"I also know that she is his rightful daughter. Not his bastard daughter." I say as I watch his anger rise to a boil.

"And how do you know that?" He asks, obviously too angry to understand anything.

"Birthmark, left ass cheek, right above her thigh." Cutter's eyes widen and he stands up, shoving his chair back in the process.

"She wouldn't dare betray me. Her father promised her to me."

"She was promised to me first." I keep my emotions guarded, and my breathing steady. Cutter is too angry for words, and James looks at me with shock. "I'll come collect her in a few days, whether you agree to it or not. She doesn't know the truth, and it better stay that way." I stand up and James follows my lead. "Touch her, and I'll have your head on a spit."

I walk out of the room with James following close behind me. Once we get outside, James stops me. "Was all of that true?"

"Every word of it." I cross my arms and look up to where her window should be.

"How did you even come to find out?" He asks as he does the same thing.

I look back at him and he shifts on his feet. "I asked my dad if he remembered Reed's daughter. The one I had grown attached to when I was younger. She was a baby when I first met her, and I was only 15 when she had supposedly died. I didn't remember much about her." I pause and take a deep breath. "He said that she never lived with her true parents because her father was scared she would get hurt. I asked him more questions, and the more I asked, the more he told. I searched through some of the old photos my father had of our families and came across the one Cutter had got caught on. It was Alice when she was a teenager. Way younger, but there are still the obvious things. Her eyes, her dimples, the things that don't change with age. She must've run to my dad when things got bad. He just never told me until recently."

"Does Alice know?" I shake my head and James makes an 'o' with his mouth. "What if she denies it?" I look back up to her window.

"I hope she doesn't." I shake my head of the thought and turn to my car. "We need to get out of here before Cutter comes out guns blazing."

"Wait, I have one more question." I turn to look at James and he scratches the back of his head. "How did you know that the daughter you knew had a birthmark there?"

I roll my eyes at him and turn back around walking to the car. "I did change her diaper and take bathes with her you know. We were kids."
