💭 JOHNNY SUH

seoyeon could see the exhaustion leaking from johnny's expression as the video chat fully loaded. his striped collar was visibly wrinkled, while the loose strands of his brown hair was messy.

"still alive?" he asked before letting out an insincere chuckle, his lips finding its way near the tip of his iced coffee's purple plastic straw. "our clients are extra bitchy today. do they even understand the concept of weekends?"

"don't speak of our clients like that," she scolded, despite wholeheartedly agreeing with his statement. this responsible persona was such a hassle to put up. instead of lecturing him further, seoyeon decided to momentarily shift the conversation to another topic before talking about work. "anyways, you look pretty shaken. what's going on?"

johnny stretched out his arms, flashing his smile that carried a tinge of bitterness. "well, my ex just━"

"hold up, your ex?" her eyes widened in shock after hearing that particular word. as they spent their childhood years together up to now, she knew that johnny only ever dated one person, so that word from him only had one possible variant. "yunmi broke up with you?"

"excuse you. i broke up with her. i've wasted enough tears for a cheater, so i decided that it was time to let go," he explained as if the topic was nothing, repeatedly running his unoccupied hand in his hair. "but the only problem is that she's persistent in staying in our shared house that i myself paid for. she won't fucking go away, so now i'm the one who's staying in a small hotel room while she gets the house from somebody else's hard work? what a nice treatment for me, don't you think?"

after his rant, seoyeon leaned back on her brown wall, a sudden wave of relief washing over her smoothly like a cold stream of water.

but why?

why was she feeling relieved?

this feeling is so wrong.

she decided to brush it off.

taeyong roamed around the streets aimlessly, his two slender hands shoved in the two pockets of his baggy jean shorts. he appreciated the place that beamed serenity. his admiration for this certain street never left, even if he walked through it for countless times now.

he always imagined walking hand in hand with his true love as they remain illuminated under the candescent light of the moon accompanied by stars that twinkled as bright as his lover's eyes. he knew that feeling a certain warmth filled with affection all over his fingertips could cause lifelong contentment.

taeyong already had his heart ready. he already saw the stars spread in the sky. the peaceful street was already set. the only thing missing now was somebody to love.

after reaching a near 7-eleven branch, he saw a familiar female. her black hood covered her short hair as she stood in front of the store, a box containing thin sticks fueled with nicotine in her hands, along with a blue lighter.

"ryot!" he walked towards her, his gaze overflowing with alertness as he saw the box of cigarettes. "you're smoking again?"

"i just needed a quick breather."

"you sure as hell have a high possibility of not breathing in the future if you continue consuming that," taeyong said, strictness present in his tone. "wait here."

he rushed inside the small convenience store, making ryot turn around in confusion. once he went back out, he carried an orange plastic bag, bearing colorful contents innerly.

yogurt sticks.

"take these because they," he slid away the cigarette box in her hands as he spoke, "are definitely better than these silent killers."

ryot snickered. "this food is for children. i'm no seven year old."

"so now you're saying cigarettes are the representations for maturity?" once he spoke further, she knew she lost the simple argument. she willingly accepted the sticks. taeyong genuinely smiled in satisfaction.

he truly was helping her in the sweetest way possible.

♤ gabrielle's note

after a few contemplations, I now have the conclusion that networkly is a company under the telecommunications industry (or basically internet, tv, telephone, and shit like that) !!

at this point I'm not even sure if I'm writing what typical offices do,, my mind just does all the imagining no matter how incorrect they are 🤯
