it took saerom approximately an hour of pacing back and forth to press call on haechan's contact number.

she could hear light rasp twist with his high-pitched voice as he said, "oh my god, miss jung saerom is that you? you called me? is this real? oh my god. oh my god. oh my god. oh my━"

"don't overreact," she chuckled condescendingly, subconsciously itching her nose by habit. "i just . . i just wanted to say sorry for being an asshole when you called on the night of your first day. i get that you were just curious, so i had no reason to shut you out like that."

haechan burst into a fit of giggles. she could swear that she heard something break at the end of his line. "you're cute when you apologize."

"what? i can't hear you."

"nothing, nothing," he brushed the silly remark away, still smiling like an idiot. "you don't need to apologize. i've accepted the fact that i'm annoying years ago."

silence then overtook the call for solid minutes, the peacefulness being more awkward than expected.

the boy decided to break it after having a small argument with himself innerly. "although, i do have a favor for you."

"what is it?"

"i recently memorized a song for my friend's birthday party. would you mind listening to it for me?"

saerom beamed widely, her willingness reaching the tallest skyscrapers. she would of course love to hear that sonorous tone of singing, which she figuratively considered like a lover's kiss under the trickling rain of a street in midnight.

she never heard anything as heavenly as haechan's voice.
