Ninth Chapter
NFW: Note From the Writer.
The water was not cold, nor hot. I like it when it's in the middle of both. I stayed in the shower for about 35 minutes. Normally, I take 15 minutes every day. But with all the events that succeeded, I did not get to wash myself. I felt dirty and I certainly was.
What would it be like to fly? Would the wind hurt my eyes so much that I would have to stop? What about falling into a rabbit hole? I'd certainly like to visit Wonderland with Alice Kingsleigh someday. Even though I know it's impossible. Wait, perhaps it is possible. Who knows? Her father could think of six impossible things to do before breakfast, right? (For those who don't understand, watch the real life movie.)
Shower thoughts are probably the best. They're weird and funny. Lilie said once that she has the craziest ideas while taking her shower. Lottie told me that showers were great for our imaginations. I don't think it has this effect on me. I know that it definitely calms me.
I guess it's my time to leave you, shower. That's sad. If I don't fly away right now, I could never make myself go. It is so haaaard. I'm out.
Suddenly, I hear a knock on the door.
-Lizzie? Are you done yet?
-Yes, Peter. Let me get dressed.
-Dress with what? I am the one who has your clothes. They're in my hands.
I sighed and slightly opened the door to take them. He put them in my hand and walked away.
My own clothes, finally! I'm never putting this pj's back on! I've been in it for two complete days and they have not been relaxing. I would not mind staying in my pj's for the weekend if I do nothing but watch TV.
Even though, I do not enjoy watching shows for to long, I think it gets boring to just sit on a couch... The only time I actually do that is when Lottie wants us to do a Fandoms-Marathon (NFW).
She is very persuasive when it concerns her reason of living. Did I say she was a complete bookworm?
We had a library back in London with more than a thousand books and every week you would see her with a new one. Passing from Shakespeare to Cassandra Clare, going through Jane Austen and Molière. She speaks French.
She could help Fey learn this hard tongue. Lottie had complain about the complexity of the rules related to French. I am sure that Felica would not mind some help discovering this new language. I know some word of it. I understand when someone talks to me, but I'm good as a dead when it comes to replying. I don't know how the syntax works and I've heard that they use the same pronouns to talk about a human, an elephant and a chair, depending on the gender. Worse! A table is considered to be a female and a boat is a male. I do not know what happened to these guys, but they did not feel well when they invented those sick grammar rules.
-Lizzie? Are you still in there? If you don't come out now, you will never have the chance to buy some clothes.
-I'm done, I said while opening the door.
-I was starting to worry.
-I was about to drown two minutes ago, I said sarcastically.
-Elia is waiting for you downstairs, he said with a smile. I'll see you at 15h.
He closed the bathroom door before I could even reply. Oh well, goodbye. I headed downstairs and found Elia sitting in the kitchen.
-There you are!
-The one and only.
She took her backpack and opened the door. She stepped outside and I followed her.
-Do you have a driving license?
-Yeah, why are you asking?
-We can borrow Pete's car.
-But, is it legal here? I mean, is my license legal?
-Is your license illegal when you enter an other country?
-No...
-Then, it's the same thing here.
Looks like I'll be going to bed smarter tonight. Oh, I just remembered that I will not sleep in my bed. I wonder if hotel's beds are comfortable here. I know most of the hotels in France are great.
I opened the door of the car and sit down. Elia handed me the keys and off we went. I have to say that I do not know where we were suppose to go. Elia was now my designated copilot. She showed me wich turn to take, left or right. In the end, I felt like she was the one driving the car, it was quite a funny experience. We were talking about nothing in particular. Changing the subject each 6 minutes. When we finally arrived I have to admit that I was surprised that this completely different world was so similar to ours. We literally have the same exact mall. Big building with many people.
-I can't believe we actually live mostly the same way.
-Why is it so hard to imagine?
-I don't know! Maybe because this whole situation is messed up. I never would have even think about an other form of life out of Earth.
-Earth?
-Phynia.
-Ah, true. Sorry, I still have problem remembering everything. There's a lot of informations in this messy head of mine.
I laughed softly. She is a complete sweetheart.
-You do not need to apologies for blank space in your mind. It happens to me at least once a day.
-Yeah, but I should know everything! You don't get how much it's hard when you can't do the only thing you can actually do.
-I do understand what you are going through. Everybody wants you to be a person you are not able to be yet. I've known a situation like that back home.
She looked at me in surprise.
-What happened?
-I got arrested, that's what happened.
Her eyes widen.
-You what?
-You heard me. I drew something on someone else's propriety and I got caught. My mother had to pay for the vandalism. After that she made me swear that I would act like a sweet teenager. Truth is, there is no possible way for me to do that. I just can't and I had to act like I could. My parents finally saw that who they were asking me to be as no right to exist, because it was not me. The real me, you know, the secret inside person.
-And WHO are you exactly, Lizzie?
-First, I'm Elizabeth Chattam.
-So that's your first name!
-Second, I am someone that needs to be free. I never supported curfews or rules. I do not know why, I just can't! I hope I could understand myself, but I don't and the truth is that I think that we never figure out who we really and truly are. Anyway, I like being in the blur.
-That's a very complex way to think and at the same time, you make it feel like it's the only option. In the end, all of this is really twisted.
-I know.
We looked at each other and laughed. I hate shopping, but Elia's great company so I won't complain too much.
We turned a corner and she suddenly disappeared. There was so many person! Therefore, Elia is super small. I called out for her, but I couldn't find her. I heard a voice behind me and turned.
So a Fandoms-Marathon is an entire day where you only watch TV shows and movies about fandoms. That's it. I hope you liked it.
