Fourth Chapter
-Hey Sleeping Beauty, time to wake up.
-Just five more minutes, mother.
-I'm a bit too young and too male to be called Mother.
I jumped of surprise and punched him in the face. Oops... I didn't want too.
-I told you not to scare me!
-I didn't know you would be scared of being awaken!, he said with his hand on his red cheek.
-Sorry...
-It's fine, we heal quickly.
-We heal fast? How wonderful! Does that mean that I can hit you again?
He smiled and said:
-I wouldn't recommend it.
-Oh why? Because you're going to hit me back? You would not dare.
-Why's that? I'm not sexist. If I have to hurt someone, man or not, I'll do it.
I laughed and got on my feet. I fell right back in my bed, with a headache.
-What the...? I said while lifting a hand to my forehead.
-Headache?
I nodded and tried to stand again. Peter took my hands and help me to stay still.
-It's normal. It's your first night here, so it means that it was your first time asleep where the time pass differently.
-The time does not pass the same way?
-Nop. Remember when you told me that your family must be worried?
-Yeah...
-Well, they are not.
I looked at him with an horrible look.
-Don't hit me please, your family loves you, he said while protecting his face, it's because they do not know that you're actually gone.
-Oh yeah, that's normal!, I said, throwing my arms in the air
I sat on my bed, once again.
They don't know that I'm gone. They didn't even notice, because they're kind of on pause.
-Peter?
-Hm?
-They will notice my absence someday, right?
-In 1 or 2 months.
-They won't notice before that?
-It's not very long. A month on Phynia is a year here.
-Oh, I see.
No one talked, as usual since I arrived in Nerilium. It's so rare that I have absolutely nothing to say. I can't even work on my filter poblem! Hard to focus on what I say when I actually have zero thing to tell.
-Hey, Specimen? You're still with us?
-Hm? Oh, yeah. I'm hungry.
-Perfect! Diner's served.
-Diner?
-Yup, you slept until 12:30.
-That's unusual. Normally, I wake up at 6 o'clock each morning.
-Ouch. That's early.
-I can't help it.
-I have habits like this one.
-You do?
-Why do you sound surprised?
I followed him out of the bedroom and after 2 turns at the left...
-It's just that I...well I don't really know what to say. I don't know you yet. I simply thought that you were more of the type of person that controls himself.
-You're saying that I have no control over myself?
-What? No! I don't know how to explain my thoughts.
-That's a Writer problem.
3 at right...
-Maybe I am one?
-Perhaps, yeah. We'll see after diner.
and a beautiful wooden staircase,we arrived in the dining room. There was one woman, two girls, one boy and a baby sitting around the table. A normal person would have died of bashfulness when they all turned to stare at me, but everybody knows that I am no classic girl. So, as I am me, I gladfully presented myself.
-Hello, folks! I'm Lizzie. You are...?
-Awfully mad at my son!, said a women
-That's a... peculiar name. Pretty... interesting. Do all the people here have weird and long names and you just happen to have been save from this ridiculous curse? I asked Peter.
-Lizzie, it's no time to talk for no reason, he told me, mom, as she said, that's Lizzie.
-Why is she here?
-Hey that's not very nice! Lottie wouldn't appreciate it. I don't mind because, you know, I'm not very nice either. By the way, nice to meet you, Peter's mom. I said "nice" too many times, didn't I?
I presented her my hand so she could shake it. After two minutes, I gave up.
-I think she does not like me, I whispered in Tall guy's ear while he showed me where to sit.
-My mother doesn't really appreciate strangers, he whispered back in my ear.
-She would have appreciate Lottie, I'm sure of it, I murmured again.
We laughed, silently. Our conversation continued this way until someone punched me under the table.
-Who dared to punch me?
-My apologies, said a little girl, I wanted to kick Peter!
-Oh, euh, it's all right then.
She smiled at me and talked again:
-I'm Felicia.
-Nice to meet you, Felicia. As I said earlier, I'm Lizzie.
-Are you Peter's girlfriend? Because it would be illegal, since I know every Reader and that I do not know you.
Peter spilled is water on the person in front of him. The small boy stright back by splutting his milk on Tall guy.
-Mason! I did not do it on purpose, plus it was only water, you stupid cow!
-Mom, Peter said I was a stupid cow!
-Enough, boys, their mom responded.
Felicia made a strange face, she looked ashamed of them.
-Boys are so "inutile", she said to me while rolling her eyes.
-Felicia's been learning French. She discovered last month that she was a Speaker, told me an other girl, I'm Cornelia. And I agree with her. Nice to meet you, Lizzie. The baby-boy over there is Toby. My mom's name is Charotte.
I made big eyes and looked at Peter. Was she the "Charotte" he told me about. He nodded as he wanted to answer at my un-asked question. God dammit. He said his mom was not very nice. Worst! I agree with him.
