What!?
Is that supposed to be some kind of prank or something?
"Hey," I hear Nathaniel speak behind me.
I immediately crumble the paper, close my fist and hurriedly turn around.
"Hey," I reply with a smile to hide my thoughts.
He looks at me a little confused and asks, "What happened? Were you looking at something?"
"Uh-yah. Uh-I was...looking at the-," I look at the table to find something, then one thing catches my eyes,"-the napkins."
"Napkins?" he questions.
The Fuck? What a good excuse, Bernice! Seriously, napkins?
"Yeah-uh. They have actually very soft napkins over here," I pick one napkin and run my hand over it.
"Oh."
Oh. He just replies, oh. Okay, now what else was I expecting? Something like-
' oh really, Bernice? Show me. I also wanna feel ' ?
Or-
' Aww..Bernice. You have such great observation skills ' ?
I'm so weird.
"Bernice, you alright?" He asks, sounding a little concerned.
Okay, if I wasn't so weird until now? Then I am now.
"Should I take you back?"
No. Why would you say that. I have got today my, maybe one time opportunity. But then again, thinking about that piece of paper, what did that message mean? And from whom? Or that message was supposed to be for anyone else?
Argghhh...It's so confusing. I think going back would be the best option.
"Yeah, sure," I say after assembling my thoughts.
If I didn't see it wrong, then his expressions showed a feeling of- sadness, maybe?
I seriously am very delusional.
We then walk out of the café. He leads me towards his Ashton Martin.
God. How does this particular human being know that it is one of my favorites cars. He is so perfect.
Don't trust him.
That message keeps repeating in my head. I shake my head and again start walking towards the passenger seat to which he was holding the door open for me. Such a gentleman.
Don't trust him.
Again that message. I again shake my head to remove that thought. I throw the piece of paper somewhere on ground in frustration and take a seat in his Ashton Martin.
I can't even believe I'm sitting besides a boy after such a long time, whom I actually like. Or else, the cars were mostly used by me to secretly makeout or have sex.
I cringe at those memories.
"So, how did you find the coffee date?" Nathaniel asks.
"Well, we didn't even sit at our seats," I say dryly.
"Yeah, but I like it when you talk to me without stuttering," he states looking at me with a very innocent smile while driving.
I blush and look down at my hands.
"It's just-I get nervous around boys."
"Oh," he says as if he doesn't believe it, but I let it go.
"Maybe we can do this thing again any time later?" He asks as he stops the car in the parking.
"Maybe," I reply not sounding so sure. Don't want to give him hopes 'cause I'm not sure if I would go or not after reading that creepy message.
We get out of the car and start to walk towards the main campus. As we are on our way, I see Hayden coming towards us.
"Hey, Bernice," he stops in front of us and gives a different expression to Nathaniel.
"Hi, Hayden," I say in response, "What're you doing here instead of being at your dorm, studying?" I tease him.
"Just going to library. Well, how was your date?"
"Does everybody knows about it?" I ask surprised. "Anyways, it wasn't even a date."
"Not everybody knows, but it wouldn't take any longer if you have friends like Jenny," he chuckles and shrugs.
"Obviously, she would have known from Alexis," I roll my eyes.
"I'm sorry for my friends' stupid act. They both are just loudmouth," I apologize Nathaniel for the nuisance they might have or might be spreading.
"It's okay," Nathaniel waves it off.
"So..uh, I should better go before they both blabber anything else around."
"Yeah, sure. See you again. Soon," he says, hands in his pocket, shifting uncomfortably in his both legs.
Is he being shy? I smile on that act of his and then turn around to leave.
-----------------------
"Alexis, Jenny. Open the door," I scream while pounding on the door, "I know you both are inside. Your giggles aren't silent enough to keep you from hiding from anybody, so please just don't even try."
"You are forcing me to curse you,you pillow bears."
"Hey, you can't say whatever you want to, to us," a voice comes from inside. I'm assuming it's Jenny.
"Then open the damn door."
After a few seconds I feel the door being unlocked.
I look at a women, Alexis, to be more specific, lying on the floor, laughing her life out and Jenny standing innocently behind the door, giggling on God knows what.
"I can't see anything to laugh on. Only if there was nitrogen oxide in this room, which is definetly not because it didn't work on me."
They both gape at me in some sort of amusement and at last Alexis starts to speak, "I can definetly see how you must have gotten those specs and grades from."
"Heyyy, I didn't get the joke!" Jenny enters the conversation.
"First of all, nitrogen oxide is the laughter gas and secondly, this wasn't a joke," I say trying to sound and look serious which I couldn't manage for long due the kind of face jenny has put on.
"Oh."
"Now come on, spare us some details about your date, huh," I turn to see Alexis, now sitting on the bed and wiggling her eyebrows in curiosity.
"Can you think of why I might be mad at both of you?" I ask them, folding my hands at my chest and tapping my foot on the floor.
They look at each other skeptically and then shrug. "You look pretty pissed off, so it might be something real," replies Alexis.
"Yes. And it's for the same reason that you're asking me about. Telling people around about my date with Nathaniel, which wasn't exactly a date and even if it was, then it didn't go like one," I say the last part in embarrassment.
"We're sorry about that," Jenny murmurs.
"We just got so excited about it that we didn't realize what we're doing. Just spread it around amongst the people," Alexis adds.
"People? Who?" I question.
"Just-just people,"Alexis stutters.
"And who are those 'just people' of yours?" I raise an eyebrow.
"Some people, who might also include that freaky, tempramental and bitchy Kelsa," says Alexis.
"Well that can be handled," I say without putting much pressure on it now.
"Bernice open up the door," we hear a loud thud in our dorm room door, "You think you'll get away just like that after going on a date with MY Nathaniel?" The voice says.
"Okay, so--it is a little bit of a problem for us, isn't it?" I say, a little shaked by the thud on the door.
"And guess what, maybe your friends are not the only one who knows about that little secret of yours about your true self," comes Kelsa's voice from outside. I can sense a wicked smile on her face.
How on Earth did she get to know about it? Is there someone else out there who knows everything about me?
