Ethan's POV

I don't understand..

I've been trying to call her for the past 10 minutes, she's not answering any of my calls.

I shouldn't have kissed her. Maybe i'm going to fast. Or maybe she doesn't like me.

I heard the door open and I stood up, thinking that maybe it was Veronica.

It's not. It's Grayson and Vanessa.

"Hey we're back" Grayson said, smiling.

"Where's Roni?" Vanessa asked, confused.

"She left."

"What? Why?" She took off her jacket. "Did something happen?"

"N-no, I think she had stuff to do." I lied.

"Really? That's weird."

I nodded and grabbed the pizza box.

Vanessa's POV

I decided to text Roni. It's weird, did she just leave like that?

To: Roni 💞

Hey Ron, why did you leave

From: Roni 💞

I'm sorry. I just remembered I have this homework thing to do.

To: Roni 💞

We're on break, this couldn't wait?

From: Roni 💞

Not really, I need to email it to my teacher before tomorrow night.

This is SO weird. Either she's lying or something happened ... I'll ask her when I come home.

Ethan has been distant ever since Roni left. Something DID happen. I was sitting on the couch, my legs over Grayson's. We were watching TV. It wasn't that interesting to be honest.

"Did you talk to Ethan about Roni? About what we talked about yesterday."

"No, should I go now?"

"Maybe. I'll go home and talk to Roni. I don't know what's happening between them right now, but I hope it won't last."

He nodded and he gently placed his lips on mine.

"Text me when you get home." I nodded and kissed him again before leaving.

"Roni?" I called as I close the front door.

No answers. She must be in her room.

I walk to her room to see her sleeping, surrounded with her stuffed animals. It's cute. I'll let her sleep and talk to her tomorrow.

I decided to text Gray.

Hey! I'm home ❤

From: Gray 💜

Okay, did you talk to Roni?

To: Gray 💜

She's sleeping. I'll do it tomorrow
And you, have you talked to Ethan?

From: Gray 💜

Yes I did ...

Grayson's POV

Vanessa just left. I need to know what happened, if something did happen.

I knock on Ethan's door, no answer.

I try again, "Ethan? Can we talk?"

I hear a sigh and the door finally opens. Ethan immediately goes back to his bed and pull the sheets over him.

I slowly walk to his bed, before sitting on the edge.

"Tell me, what happened with Veronica?"

"There's nothing much to say."

"But something happened, right?"

"I kissed her."

Wow, I wasn't expecting that. Ethan NEVER makes the first move. He's too shy to do it. So if he did, he must really like Veronica.

"You- what?"

"I kissed her. And she left." I hear him sniffing. Is he crying?

"But why?"

"Why did I kiss her or why did she leave?"

"Hm, both?"

He stands up so I can finally see his face. His eyes are red and puffy, his lips are swollen.

"I kissed her because I like her, Grayson. And she left because she don't."

I stare at him, not really sure what to say.

"How come the people I like, don't like me back? Am I cursed or something?"

"No you're not, Ethan. Maybe she's just not the one."

Tears start rolling down his cheeks. I never seen Ethan crying over a girl.

So I hugged him. Really tight.
Vanessa was right. Veronica breaks heart.

Vanessa's POV

10:30 am

Our parents are coming home tonight. But I really need to talk to Roni, since it's just the both of us.

The smell of pancakes got me off my bed. Roni is an amazing cook. I love her pancakes. But she only cooks when something's wrong. When she's upset or sad.

I walk downstairs to see Roni in the kitchen. I sit on the counter next to her.

"Hey."

"Hey." She says, hesitantly.

We stay silent for a moment. I don't want to be that kind of sister. The one who ruins their day by starting off with talking about what's wrong. She will tell me eventually.

"Is Grayson coming over? I made a ton of pancakes."

"Wait, how long have you been here?"

"I don't know, probably more than one hour."

She didn't look sad. She looked confused. As if something was bothering her.

She tells me to call Grayson before we start eating.

Calling... Gray 💜

"Hey love, what's up?"

"Hey, I was wondering if you wanted come over to have breakfast?"

"Sure, everything's okay?"

We were all three sitting at the table, eating pancakes. It's like Roni asked me to invite Grayson so I could not talk to her about yesterday. As if she was scared of what I might ask.

"So Gray, did you talk to-"

"Yeah." He looks at Veronica and then back at me. "I'll tell you-"

"He kissed me." She says, looking down in her plate.

"What?" I ask, confused. "He did?!"

Grayson nodded, and Roni stays silent.

"But, wh- and why did you leave?"

"I didn't know what to do! We were having fun playing and he kissed me out of nowhere!"

"Do you like him?"

"I don't kn- no I don't!"

I look at Grayson, he looks sad. As if he knew this wasn't going to end well.

I mean, have you ever seen a one-sided love end well?
