MAGIC WAND . 04

SANTA CRUZ, ARGENTINA

March 21, 1997⌛️

SEVERUS AND I stood in an awkward silence while Sergeo was gone. It was odd to say the least. Even though I had not a clue on the normal Wizarding World I knew that most magic wands were no sold in the company of someone's home.

I allowed my eyes to wander around the small living room. It was cosy with a chair and couch set up by a warm fireplace and a book shelf in the corner. I noticed most of the books were in Latin and those that weren't were all Wizarding books

"So..." I awkwardly coughed "You and Sergeo."

With a scoff and roll of the eyes Severus began to explain. "Sergeo and I have been friends for years. With the wand shop that Hogwarts students usually go to; Ollivander's, closed down we had to go somewhere else to purchase your wand. In my opinion Sergeo is the second best wand dealer next to Ollivander, I decided to take you here." Severus finished in his usual bored tone.

I simply hummed taking another look around the room.

"You should be grateful girl! Not many professors would go out of their way taking a student all the way to a different country to purchase a wand!" Severus snapped at me irritated.

"Well I'm sorry I didn't realize you get offended so easily!" I held my hands up in an 'I surrender' motion.

Severus simply growled in reply turning on his heel to go to the bookshelf in the corner. I watched as he slid a book off one of the shelf's and sat in the chair near the fire beginning to read silently.

'Okay'. I mouthed the words silently to myself turning away from him.

I decided to listen in through my advanced hearing, I heard the sound of feet moving about meaning he wasn't coming back out here anytime soon. I let out an annoyed sigh looking towards the door Sergeo left. Severus gave me and odd look before returning back to his book obviously trying to ignore me.

After another five minutes of painfully awkward silence Sergeo finally emerged from the room he was previously in. I watched as he dropped about three wooden boxes onto the couch. Severus finally set down the book and watched curiously.

"Okay, it took me awhile trying to find some wands that could be a possible match for you. I finally decided in just trying some classic Ollivander wands that were owled here, you know since you are going to Hogwarts." Sergeo exclaimed.

Severus rose a brow at him in confusion.

"Ollivander's wands? I thought you, and I quote 'hated him and his good for nothing over-acknowledged wands.' Severus finished a tad bit of amusement lacing his tone.

"I do." Sergeo grumbled looking down obviously hiding something.

"Mmm-hmm." Severus tutted waiting for Sergeo to continue.

"Fine his wands aren't all bad okay! We have a little deal, I give him some of my wands he gives me some of his every year!" Sergeo finally burst, his Latin accent covering every word so much it was almost hard to understand him.

He then proceeded to cuss Severus out in Latin, looking at the smug face he had pulled. I watched jaw slightly ajar at Severus's slightly laid back attitude toward his friend. Sergeo shook his head calming himself putting on his happy face once more picking out a random wooden wand box.

Sergeo delicately took out the wand from its box revealing it. The wand was a dark wood color with small markings on the handle.

"Nine inches long and very light. Made with Holly-wood. It's core being Kelpie hair, a very old wand indeed at least forty years. One of Garrick Ollivander's classics." Sergeo explained while walking to me.

Sergeo held out the wand for me to grab. Just as I was about to grab it an odd feeling washed through me causing me to recoil and slowly bring my hand back to my side.

"I really shouldn't." I shook my head taking a small step back.

"No! You can't be afraid, you'll never know if it's the right one without touching it!" Sergeo cried out dramatically.

Just as I was about to reject the offer again Severus spoke up.

"Adriel you need a wand to attend Hogwarts, we don't have all day!" Severus snapped.

Sergeo who was obviously used to this behavior from him simply nodded his head eagerly while once again trying to hand me the wand. With a small gulp I grabbed the wand.

I held the wand for barely a second before the worst thing happened. The wand let out some sort of shrieking sound and then it exploded.

I mean literally exploded, chunks of wood went flying everywhere causing both Sergeo and Severus to duck. The both of them stood soon after giving me flabbergasted looks.

"Sorry." I admitted sheepishly while shrugging my shoulders.

"Obviously not that one." Sergeo said still in shock while walking back to the pile of two other boxes on the couch.

"I have never and I repeat never, seen that in my life." Severus stated looking at me suspiciously.

Don't blow your cover!

"Well there's a first time for everything." I let out a nervous laugh.

Before he could get another word in Sergeo handed me me another wand.

"Ten inches long and heavier than most wands. Made from Vine-wood. The core is unicorn hair. Relatively new, a year at most. Another one straight from Ollivander's." Sergeo muttered handing it to me curiously.

I took the wand cautiously expecting it to blow up again. Severus and Sergeo seemed to think to same thing as they looked ready to take cover. After a few seconds of me holding the wand and nothing happening the three of us let out a breathe of relief.

"Give it a wave." Sergeo spoke eagerly obviously excited to see if this was my wand.

Severus also watched in attentiveness.

I started waving the wand around in the air quickly obviously over-doing it. I stopped after a second when nothing happened. However, I spoke too quickly when a cracking noise was heard around the room.

Looking down at the wand I watched as it split in half and fell apart down the middle. The two pieces hit the floor loudly. I bent down and went to grab the two pieces. I picked it up no longer feeling any sort of magic in it at all.

I shyly handed it to Sergeo who's jaw was practically hitting the floor. He grabbed the two pieces from me turning to Severus who also looked shell shocked.

"I wonder if it's an American thing as I have not ever seen this happen." Sergeo finally spoke to Severus.

"No I don't believe it is. Though it is quite unnatural, wands generally don't break when a wizard holds it." Severus said obviously aiming the last part towards me.

He's suspicious, that's just great I haven't even gotten to 1942 yet and I already have someone who's suspicious of me.

⌛️⌛️⌛️

Unfortunately this whole process of me breaking-no-destroying wands continued for the next two hours straight. At one point one of the wands literally floated out of my hands and snapped itself in half.

It was painfully obvious that both men were tired of watching every single wand I held break. Sergeo looked more sad if anything though, I actually sort of felt bad.

"Let us try this one. Twelve inches long made from an ancient White Oak Tree that only grows here in the Santa Cruz forest. The core consist of two different elements, Phoenix feather as well as the ashes of a Dementor. I made it myself about a year ago. It's an extremely powerful wand made only for someone who will do great things." Sergeo explained his eyes lighting up.

It was obvious he held high hopes for this wand. Severus also seemed pretty confident that this wand wouldn't break.

I on the other hand wasn't so confident. I knew the exact reason the wands kept breaking, it was because of my power. I figured that a Wizard's wand was suppose to connect to the wielders power. Now I, being half angel means my power source is completely different. Technically I'm not using Wizarding magic, I'm using Enochian magic the magic that angels use. Enochian magic is so ancient that it's completely foreign to practically every Wizarding wand on the planet. Therefore none of the wands are able to connect with me and instead the force of my power is completely destroying the wands instead. It'd be a miracle if I was able to find a wand that connected to Enochian magic.

Sergeo held the wand out with a slight smug look. I took the wand in my hands and examined it ever so lightly trying my best not to let it get destroyed. I mean it was a nice looking wand, I really liked its velvety red color of it.

"I tell you this wand is way to powerful to be destroyed, I really think this is your wand." Sergeo smiled his Latin accent coming out more than usual.

I smiled to him as well actually gaining a small sense of hope that I might actually be able to connect with this wand.

Just kidding spoke to soon.

I looked down at the wand as I felt it start to shake within my hands. I dropped it immediately when it caught fire and started to burn.

"Oh my God! Put it out! Put it out!" I screamed at the men realizing this cabin was made entirely of wood and could catch fire very easily.

I would do it myself, but you know I can't exactly blow my cover. I mean how would it look if a supposed American girl with non-magical parents is able to put out a fire with just a single thought? Not good I'll tell you that.

"Aguamenti!" Severus shouted wasting no time in standing up and putting out the fire with his own wand.

Water shot from the tip of his wand and onto the ever burning fire. I watched as the flames diminished. Severus calmly put his wand back into his robes before looking at mesothelioma a slight glare.

I silently looked at the ashes of the supposedly 'powerful wand that wouldn't break.'

"That was one of the most powerful wands here." Sergeo muttered to himself in shock.

"Thirty-seven wands have you tried, yet every single one of them has been destroyed." Sergeo spoke loudly.

"I'm so sorry." I muttered slightly ashamed of myself looking at the floor.

"Sergeo if you wish I could take her to another wand shop." Severus finally spoke walking over to Sergeo who stood in front of me.

That one hurt.

"No! I am determined to prove myself better than Garrick Ollivander and his dreadful wands. I promise you Adriel that you will find your wand today! I swear to it!" Sergeo spoke loudly his voice full of determination.

Looking at both him and Severus I gained new sense of confidence. I allowed a full blown grin to cover my face at Sergeo's attitude. Severus's lips started to twitch as if he wanted to smile but he wouldn't allow himself to.

"Sometimes the Wizard is the only one who can find there wand. Come." Sergeo motioned me to follow him as he walked into a different room.

Severus trailed behind obviously wanting to see if I could actually find a wand that doesn't blow up. As we entered the room shock filled me. This room was obviously charmed somehow to be bigger than its original form. This one room had to be bigger than the whole cabin.

I no longer felt bad about breaking thirty-seven wands. This man had thousands of different wands. Rows upon rows, isles upon isles of wand boxes went around the entire room. Severus behind me didn't seem shocked at all, but then again he's probably been here before.

"Walk around. See if you feel any sort of connections to a wand. This is something you need to do for yourself so just yell for us when you find it." Sergeo smiled at me before starting a conversation with Severus.

When. Don't you mean if.

With a small sigh I trotted away from the two and started wandering around the huge room filled to the brink with wands. I lightly whistled a tune to a song that I couldn't remember the name of while I walked down the many rows of wand boxes with no hope of me finding a wand what-so-ever.

My whistling soon turned into me humming the Stars Wars theme while running my fingers across the many boxes of attempting to feel any sort of wand connect to my Enochian magic. As I kept walking straight I realized I was heading toward the very back of the room. With slight curiosity I made my way to the back where more wands were stacked.

I gazed at the boxes of wands that seemed to be isolated from the rest of the room. Just as I was about to head back to Severus and tell him I was a lost cause I felt the ground shake with a slight vibration.

"Adriel!" I heard Severus yell my name.

From the tone of his voice I knew that I was not the only one who felt the vibration. Once again I allowed my eyes to drift over the isolated boxes of wands. This time though it was different. One box in particular caught my eye, dead center of all the boxes was a wand box that almost seemed to be glowing.

"Adriel!" I heard Severus call my name yet again with more urgency.

Whatever was inside that box was practically calling my name. Again the ground gave a slight vibration. I heard two pairs of footsteps running this way.

"Adriel!" This time it was Sergeo's voice that called for me.

I had to see for myself what was inside that box. I knew it was obviously a wand, but I wasn't comprehending that. All I knew was that I wanted to see what was inside that box. I stepped closer to the stacks my eyes dead set on the peculiar box.

I lifted my arm about to grab the box until I was stopped.

"Adriel." I immediately pulled my arm back as Severus and Sergeo emerged from the stacks of wand boxes.

"I need to see what is inside that box." I pointed to wand box that had captured my undivided attention.

Severus looked at me with a slightly angered expression.

"What was that vibration Adriel?" Severus spoke to me through clenched teeth.

Sergeo held a hand up to Severus as he slowly stepped forward. Looking me in the eyes Sergeo studied me for a little while. Finally he eyes lit up in absolute shock. He sensed the Holy energy surrounding me alike to the other villagers that sensed it.

"Tha-That's not possible!" Sergeo exclaimed stuttering a bit.

"What is it Sergeo?" Severus spoke in slight concern.

Ignoring Severus, Sergeo looked me in the eyes as he pulled the mystical wand box from the shelf. With more caution than I had seen Sergeo use with any other wand he opened the box. Sergeo pulled out the most intricately designed wand that I had seen so far that day.

The wand was dark brown almost black, the oddest part though was the blood red splotches that covered the wood. Golden vines wrapped themselves securely around the handle.

All along the bottom rim were words in a language that would be foreign to any wizard and non-magical human alike. Not to me though I understood the words like it was simple English.

The language was Enochian, only angels were able to understand it for the most part. Nephilim were obviously an exception being part angel, along with very few demons who picked up on the language, and humans who were profits of the lord.

THE POWER OF THE LORD, is what the script in Enochian read.

As Sergeo stepped toward me with the wand it seemed to start glowing.

"This wand has been around for over two-thousand years. The wood was made from an ancient cross, said to have been bathed in the blood of Jesus Christ himself. My ancestors from long ago took that ancient cross with the dried blood of Christ and went to Father Mani for him to cleanse it. Father Mani cleansed the cross with Holy water yet the stains off Christ's blood remained." Sergeo started his story with an impassive look.

I silently urged him to go on. Severus stood silent as well listening intently.

"My ancestor took this cross back to his home and from it carved a wand. Not any ordinary wand; no, the wand which holds in it Enochian magic." Sergeo explained looking at the wand.

I saw Severus's eyes go slightly wide in surprise before he recovered.

"This wand is the very first of the seven wands that hold Enochian magic within." Sergeo announced finally looking up to meet my gaze.

Severus's eyes found mine as well. They bore into mine with a dangerous look.

"How in the name of Merlin did you manage to find that wand?" Severus finally questioned me, voice low with suspicion.

I looked away quickly not having a legitimate answer to his question. I couldn't tell him the truth, that would be terrible. My mother would never trust me to go out alone again! Sergeo sensing the fact that I didn't want to answer quickly stepped in.

"Thirteen-and-a-half-inches. Carved from the wood of the cross, with Christ's blood as well as cleansed by Holy water. The core being one of the angel Uriel's wing feathers. Over two-thousand years old and one of the only seven wands on Earth that uses Enochian magic." Sergeo seemed to see me in a new light now as he began to hand me the wand.

Severus looked at Sergeo like he had gone mad.

"Sergeo. Adriel is a muggle-born there is no possible way that such a powerful wand is mean't for her. Adriel doesn't even use Enochian magic, that magic is only used by angels!" Severus yelled exasperated.

Okay now I was annoyed. Buddy, I could obliterate you on the spot.

"You really still haven't figured it out Severus?" Sergeo looked at Severus like he was stupid.

"Figured what out?" Severus grumbled now mildly annoyed.

"She reeks of Holy energy, quite literally might I add. Her name is Adriel for Merlin's sake!" Sergeo screamed at his friend.

Excuse me, but I thought I smelled quite good.

Unlike the villagers Sergeo was smart and realized I was a Nephilim, only part angel. Unfortunately for me Severus's face dawned on realization.

Crap, I haven't even started the mission and yet someone already found out! I don't understand why life hates me so much right now, mom is so going to ground me!"

Severus's eyes immediately met my own.

"Nephilim." Is all Severus managed to mutter through his shock.

"Yep, but you were definitely not suppose to find out." I sighed sadly to myself.

"Enough with the chit-chat take the damn wand, Nephilim." Sergeo said before Severus could utter another word.

I cringed at the name he called me. God I hated being called Nephilim, it sounds like my parents are scolding me or something.

My hand wrapped around the handle of the wand praying that it wouldn't break. Quite the opposite took place actually.

I gasped loudly as a warm sensation spread through my entire body. It was like the Wizard half of myself had finally been awakened. I could feel my angel grace running through my veins as I held the wand.

My wings that had been dormant for oh-so-long started becoming visible as they untangled themselves from my back. I couldn't find it in myself to make them invisible right now as everything in my body seemed to be on high alert. My eyes became wide as they started to glow the unusual bright blue almost white color.

My wings opened up as the ground shook violently. My power flowed as I literally started to glow. I could see both Severus and Sergeo looking at me in slight awe. I wasn't thinking of the consequences my mother would surely give me when she figured out I had been caught after less than five-hours away from home.

I was simply thinking about how I finally found a wand that accepted me.
