GOLDEN GIRL. 10.

HOGWARTS SCHOOL OF WITCHCRAFT & WIZARDRY

1942

"WINGARDIUM LEVIOSA." I proudly spoke watching as a library chair floated up.

Gently I placed the chair back in its rightful spot and looked around. The library was now empty and I noticed the light outside beginning to fade.

Had I been here for that long?

It sure didn't feel like it. They must've been serving dinner all ready. I had successfully managed to cast the Wand lighting charm, Softening Charm, Mending charm, and now the Levitation charm within the past hour.

I couldn't help but mentally give myself a pat on the back. Quickly I took Hogwarts: A history, The Standard book of Spells, Grade 1, and Potions 101 in my arms walking out of the library. I decided that I would drop the books off in my dorm and then go to the Great Hall for dinner.

⏳⏳⏳⏳⏳

After I dropped my books off in the dorm I began my journey to the Great Hall. The heels I wore clicked as I practically ran to the Great Hall, eager to eat. Pretty much the entirety of Hogwarts was all ready eating dinner, and chatting.

Luckily no one seemed to notice my added presence to the the Great Hall. My eyes roamed over the Slytherin table finding the back of Lavender's head first. Her huge curls fanned out around her head causing me to let out a friendly snicker.

God, her hair's huge.

Finally I noticed that Penelope sat next her, her back straight as she ate in the most classy way possible. The two were sat on the opposite side of Tom Riddle and his cronies.

Lavender and Abraxas seemed to be having another go at each other, while Penelope sat listening to what ever Lestrange was telling her.

Tom Riddle ate nothing and instead was looking around the Great Hall bored, not paying attention to the others conversation. In midst of looking around Tom's eyes found myself.

I realized I must've looked like an idiot just standing there watching them and quickly made my way over. Watching me like a hawk Tom's eyes never left mine. It was then I noticed that Tom had scooted over to make room for myself. It took all of my will power to not go red when I realized that he wanted me to sit next to him.

Get it together!

I swiftly sat to the left of Tom gaining the attention of the rest of the group.

"Hey where'd you go after the tour no one's seen you all day?" Lavender asked leaving her conversation with Abraxas.

"Just the library, I wanted to study a bit more before classes tomorrow." I spoke smoothly.

More like actually try to understand what we're doing tomorrow.

Tom narrowed his eyes at me, as if he didn't believe the excuse that flew from my mouth.

"Thank you for the tour today you guys, it really helped." I smiled at Tom and Lavender. Lavender waved her hand. "It was no problem, I had to leave half way through anyway."

"What's your favorite lesson, Adriel?" Penelope questioned a smile on her pink lips. Everyone awaited an answer as well, curious to my response.

However, the only person I noticed was Tom. Tom sat watching an eyebrow raised, an innocent look adorning his features. I knew better though he was already skeptical of me, he was probably waiting for me to mess up. Though this was question I felt confident about.

"Spells." I answered proudly, not knowing the mistake I had just made.

Everyone's face turned into that of confusion. "Spells?" A voice that I hadn't yet heard spoke.

My head turned into the direction of Nicholas Avery. "There is no class by the name of 'spells'." Avery stated looking at me as if I had a third head.

"Oh there isn't?" I spoke nervously.

I thought for sure they'd have a spell class. I mean it's a wizarding school.

"Obviously all the classes here do spells, but what branch is your favorite? Defense against the Dark Arts, Potions, Charms, Transfiguration?" Lavender finally questioned after a moment of silence among the group.

"Oh! Hogwarts has it separated like that? At Ilvermorny they just did all that into one big class, and they called 'Spells'." I came up with a believable lie on the spot.

Everyone seemed to believe me as they all nodded there heads, the only one who was still suspicious was Tom. "But my favorite branch was probably Charms." I spoke choosing a random class Lavender has said.

"Yes, Charms is always fun." Penelope smiled with a thoughtful look. "Though my favorite class is probably Astronomy."

"You're such an Astronomy dork." Gideon Lestrange laughed at Penelope.

I watched as Penelope's face turned bright red in anger. "Oh yeah, say's the man who's favorite subject is Ancient Runes." Penelope growled at her boyfriend.

Lestrange immediately shut up, his ears turning slightly pink as everyone laughed at him. "You're favorite subject is Ancient Runes? That's such a boring subject!" Antonin Dolohov howled in laughter.

Everyone in the group was laughing at Lestrange except for Tom Riddle, who actually looked mildly annoyed by the laughter. Tom rolled his eyes shaking his head bringing his attention back to me.

"What's your favorite subject?" I questioned Tom curiously.

"Defense against the Dark Arts." He spoke not missing a beat.

His ice eyes seemed to stare straight into my soul. It was like he knew everything about me. I've never felt so helpless, and that's how Tom made me feel. I hated that feeling, but a tiny part of me also liked that he made me feel. As screwed up as it was no one had ever made me feel helpless before, I was always the big bad Nephilim. I liked the change.

"I'm starving." I told him after a moment of just staring at each other.

Without hesitation I began piling food onto my plate. Tom watched this with an astounded expression. As soon as my plate was filled to the brink I began shoveling food into my mouth quickly. Despite how fast I was eating I still attempted to not make a mess of the food.

"I don't understand how you eat so much." Tom finally stated after watching me eat my second plate of food. I simply shrugged my shoulders. "I'm hungry."

Just as I was about to go for my third plate; dinner disappeared causing me to groan. "How are you still hungry?" Tom shook his head. "No matter desert should be coming up shortly." As if on cue desert suddenly appeared in front of everyone.

I dove into the food quickly eager to taste the British Wizarding sweets. "What is this called?" I moaned in delight as I bit into a delicious sweet, which was shaped like a pot.

"Those are called cauldron cakes." Tom stated taking one for himself. I watched as he bit into, how does he make everything look so attractive? When I realized I was staring at his lips I quickly averted my eyes hoping Tom didn't notice.

Unfortunately Tom seems to notice everything as I heard a chuckle escape his lips. "Are you done watching me eat Adriel?"

My cheeks burned bright pink and I quickly bit into another cauldron cake. Another relatively loud moan left my lips at the taste.

"I'm sure you wish Tom was the one making you moan like that." Abraxas wiggled his eyebrows suggestively at me.

I choked on my food falling into a coughing fit while the others laughed. Tom didn't laugh, but a smirk tugged at the corners of his lips. As soon as I got over it I feigned a look of innocence. "But I thought that was already your wish Abraxas?" Everyone fell silent their mouth hanging open at what I just suggested. Tom's smirk simply grew wider at the come back.

"Is there something you're not telling me Malfoy?" Tom spoke raising a perfect eyebrow. Everyone else's jaw seemed to hit the ground, they were all surprised that Tom Riddle just told a joke.

Lavender didn't take this newfound attention on Abraxas to waste as she immediately began hardcore roasting and teasing him. This even seemed to capture Tom's attention as he watched Lavender completely demolish Abraxas with roasts. Abraxas simply hung his head low, accepting Lavender's teasing.

Knowing that the tables could soon turn and lead back to me I quickly stood up and rushed out of the Great Hall hoping nobody would notice. Nobody had noticed except for the one and only Tom Marvolo Riddle who's eyes were burning into my body.

Just as I had managed to get out of the Great Hall, Tom stood up and began following after me. I mentally cursed him knowing I couldn't just up and run from him as that would only lead to me looking ridiculous.

Even with the quick steps I was taking Tom still seemed to catch up to me rather quickly. "Off in such a rush, Adriel?" Tom innocently questioned.

I shrugged my shoulders thinking about how I was suppose to get close to him. "What's your blood-status?" The question flew from me before I had time to even ponder whether it was a smart move to ask him this. Tom visibly stiffened and the air around us grew tense.

Oh no! What did I sat that offended him?

I mean the others seemed to have no shame in asking me this question. I thought it was normal.

"Half-blood." Tom ground out finally after what seemed like forever. I nodded my head silently an awkward tense sensation still in the air.

"What were you actually doing in the library today?" The question took me off guard. I could feel my heart rate pick up ever so slightly.

"What do you mean? I told you already I was just studying a bit before class." I shifted my eyes away from him.

"We both know you're lying to me right now. Not only are you lying about the library, but I highly doubt Ilvermorny taught one big class titled 'spells'." Tom shook his head his voice growing lower as we walked.

We paused at the brick wall which led into the common room, Tom saying the password allowing our entrance. There was no one seated in the common room as mostly everyone was still in the Great Hall. Taking advantage of the solitude the two of us currently had, Tom sharply stepped in front of me.

My heart seemed to jump out of my chest at the dark look he gave me. Tom leaned his body down so his mouth was directly next to my ear. "Let me make something clear, love. I know you're hiding something, and I will find out what it is." He cool breath sending shivers down my spine.

I'd barely even known him for a day, and he already figured out I was hiding something! My mind went into panic as my entire body seemed to shut down. Him being so goddamn close to me wasn't helping the situation at all.

Tom's head suddenly traveled further down making goose bumps erupt on my arms. He seemed to inhale my scent his lips dangerously close to my neck. His body was also dangerously close to my own, if someone were to walk in it'd no doubt look like he was giving me a hickey.

I could smell his scent. It was absolutely intoxicating, I couldn't focus on anything other than him. He smelled of rain, and god did I love the smell of rain.

My eyes widened when I felt an odd sensation. Quickly I looked down to my arms, and nearly passed out at the sight. My veins were glowing an extremely obvious bright blue. I'm surprised Tom hadn't noticed yet. But then again I guess he was a bit distracted.

He could not see this, there was no decent explanation I could blame this on. If Tom saw this there is no telling what he'd do.

I watched the power rush through my veins, and figured that my eyes were probably glowing their unnatural shade of blue as well. Tom began to pull away from my neck and I immediately panicked.

Darting forward I quickly launched myself at Tom wrapping my arms around his body and pulling his head back into my neck. "What the bloody hell! Let go this instant!" Tom yelled at me.

What was now happening was in no way heart fluttering, it was simply awkward and embarrassing. Luckily embarrassment replaced my flustered emotions causing the glowing veins to go away, and my eyes to stop glowing turning back into brown.

I quickly let go of Tom, and watched as he quickly stepped away from me, his hair was slightly disheveled. His eyes pierced into mine with a ferocious glare.

Words couldn't even describe the embarrassment I felt at that moment.

"I'm so sorry! I just really needed a hug. Yeah, well have a nice night, see you tomorrow." I darted down the girls hallway ignoring Tom's furious calls for me to 'get back here.'

"You get back here!" I could here Tom's voice as I turned the corner of the girls dorms. "ADRIEL!" His voice faded as I shut the door to my room.

I slowly slid down the door and into a sitting position. I rested my head against my knees and let out a long sigh.

Well today was a complete bust, mow I'm going to need to think of a better way to apologize tomorrow. Not just 'I really needed a hug.' God, why life so hard?
