[9]27. You Certainly Have a Gorgeous Head, Don't You?

My arms wrapped tightly around Tiana. Her familiar perfume calming my nerves. "How long has it been?" Her muffled voice said through my shoulder. "Too long," I murmured.

Fighting off the stinging in my eyes, we parted. A sigh escaped our lips simultaneously. "Where's the entourage?" She gestured around me, at the lack of the boys. "Getting a bite to eat, but- I had to come first," I spoke flustered, my nervousness kicking in. I hadn't explained to her the dangers yet, how emanate they were. Ever since I saw her in the lobby, I had been eyeing every person that walked past, glanced, smiled, glared. Everyone was a threat, everyone was a suspect. If I had learned something so far, never underestimate the supernatural. Never underestimate Luke.

Would she be safer aware? Or completely in the dark?

She noticed me choking on my thoughts, laying a hand on my arm. "Magg- oh! Look who's showed up boys!"

She glanced behind me, taking a step towards the guys. "Nice to see you under less stressful circumstances!" She quickly enveloped dean in a hug, and he awkwardly patted back. "Oh- uh. Yeah," he shot me a look. She did the same with Sam, and Cas who just flashed worried eyes. "Sorry she's- like that," I apologized, and she rolled her eyes.

"That is- perfectly alright," dean chuckled nervously. "Can I say," Sam scoffed, "what a place,"

"Never stayed somewhere like this, let alone set foot inside," dean looked towards the high ceilings, whistling low. "Neither have I," she whispered, her English accent chirping her voice. "Quite nice, isn't it?"

The walls were a soft amber, glowing the room. Natural light came down in streaks, the lobby light by the sun roof ceiling. Each light ray went through a crystal chandelier, casting light shadows across the marble floors. Art and sculptures gave the hotel a museum feel, almost unreal. "Better not break anything, or you'll be in debt for the next 100 years," I pointed an accusing finger towards the guys. "Yeah no shit," dean scoffed, eyeing the bar towards the back of the room. Tiana let out an "oh" before handing each of us a key card.

It's gold plated surface reflected the room. "Shit, this probably costs a ton too," Sam said. "Want to buy anything from the hotel, put it on the card. It's all covered," she said, making Sam and Dean's jaw drop. "I'll uh- be right back," dean ran off.

Towards the bar obviously.

"Geez, Tiana this is great. Thanks so much," Sam flustered, shaking his head unbelievably. "Don't mention it. I'm gonna head up to the room, meet me there yeah?" She said, waving back as she walked.

"Sam, we have to tell her," I said quickly, once she was out of earshot. "Do you think that's best?" Cas answered, squinting at everything. "She's in danger, she has to be aware," I argued, as Dean walked in with a beer. "Who's in danger," he grumbled. "Tiana! She has to know. We don't even know why Luke is here, and I have an idea it has to do with her,"

"Then we hit the lore, figure out what would be so special about New York, and how it would break Lucifer free," Castiel explained, making his way to the elevators.

*****

"So he's here in New York, and you think it might have something to do with me?" Tiana squeaked, wringing her hands together. "Which means we have to find out, what connects you to Lucifer," Cas explained, pacing the room. "I'm- how would I be connected to Lucifer!" She dropped her voice low, "I am no satanist,"

"We've figured that part out," Sam said, "but it's obviously something,"

"Come on Sammy, I mean-maybe we're just worrying her and it's just a coincidence," Dean said, trying to find an explanation. Cas vigorously shook his head, "there are no coincidences,"

"Enough rambling, we need to get to work," I explained, "Cas, how is Luke supposed to free Lucifer from the cage anyway? Before we confront him, we need his plan," I demanded, just as Sam opened up his laptop.

"There's a spell, that can free him. Similar to the trials, except maybe less complicated," he explained, "there are only two copies of the spell book which it's written in,"

"If it's easier than the trials, why didn't they just pop him out like that last time?" Dean asked, setting his empty beer bottle down. "The spell can only be conducted by the true antichrist. The one born of Lucifer," Cas answered.

"Luke..." I murmured, taking a long sigh. "Hey Cas, any idea what the spell book was called?" Sam asked, computer ready. "Damnatorum,"

It took Sam about 5 seconds (in reality about 30) to slam his fist on the table in triumph. "Found it! And whoop-de-do, it's here. Both of the books. In New York's Women's library for the supernatural," Sam read, cocking an eyebrow at the last part. "They have a library, for the supernatural?" Dean scoffed, making a face.

"Wha-" he shortly breathed. "Whatever, lets go,"

Sam held up a hand, "well hold on there. Like a said, it's a Women's library. Like a men's club but, only women. With spell books,"

Dean wrinkled his nose, "sounds like a breeding ground for witches," castiel spoke up, "right now is not the time Dean, there are more pressing matters at hand,"

"I'll go check it out," I gave them no time to argue, before zapping away.

*****
"How did you get banned Maggie!" Sam ran his hands through his hair. "Well you see..."

Grungy. That's the word I would use to describe this place. At least the outside. It was a deep green, chipped bricks and black rimmed roof. If there were any building to hold an array of supernatural books, it would be this one. But on the inside, it was neat. No dust. Modern appliances. Clean floors. Talk about deceiving.

I pushed open the heavy glass doors, immediately finding an employee. "How may I help you," a girl with raven black hair chirped at me. "Hey! I was hoping to take a look at the book... Damnatorum?" I said, nervously rubbing the back of my hand.

She bit her lip, "Sorry, but that book isn't available right now," she apologized. Just my luck. "Why not?" I pushed. She looked around nervously, "I can't really say-"

"Oh come on," I smirked, giving her a raised eyebrow. "Maybe... if you promise to meet me after I get off," she bit her lip, eyeing me up and down. Oh. Work with it Maggie.

"You got it," I winked. She pursed her lips, "Well..." she sighed, "this guy stole one of them. So we have the other on lockdown. Those books aren't even rented out, they're highly valuable,"

My heart skipped a beat. So Luke had the book. A tingling sensation took over my body, a sense of dread. "You sure I can't- can't see it?"

"Nope, sorry hun," she shot me a smile, "I gotta finish up, but, stick around?"

I gave her two pointed fingers, "hehe, yeah you got it,"

She quickly walked off, so I took that chance to slide behind some bookshelves. If I were hiding an all powerful book, where would I put it? My fingers traced along the floor boards, and behind the shelves for about 10 minutes. In the corner of my eye, I found a door marked with the words 'employees only'.

Maybe it was simpler than I thought. I quickly dashed for the door, turning the handle just as a hand tapped my shoulder. Quickly spinning around, I looked at the raven haired girl. "So, we still meeting after your shift?" I nervously chuckled as I was met with a cold stare.

"Damnit! You're lucky she didn't hex you after," Dean groaned. "Witches," he mumbled. "How are we supposed to get it now," Sam sighed, before abruptly pausing.

Simultaneously, we all slowly turned to Tiana.

"No! I can't be apart of your 'bad girl' shenanigans," She shook her head, eyeing all of the boys. "Please Tiana," I begged. "If you couldn't get it how could I? Why didn't you just zap in there or something?" She argued. "The place was warded, heavy magic," I explained. "God!" Dean slammed his hand down, "are you sure we can't gank these witches?" He begged, but Cas rolled his eyes. "Time and place, Dean,"

"At least take some witch killing bullets with you," Dean begged, and I finally gave in.

"Fine, but Here's the plan..."

*****
"Never, ever, zap me again!" Tiana exclaimed, holding on to a pole for support. "You get used to it," I shrugged, looking over at the library. "Oh no I will not!" She regained her composure, taking a stand next to me.

"So I'll zap you there, and wait outside. While you distract the girl, I sneak in, grab the book. Make my way out back, where you'll meet me and then we're gone," I explained, as Tiana nervously bit her lips. "Easy enough," Sam assured her. "I guess...."

"Just stick to the plan," I told Tiana, as we walked towards the library. Just as she walked through the open glass doors, she was met with the cheery raven haired girl. My ears perked up, listening.

"How may I help you?" The girl asked again. "You don't happen to have, Damnatorum, do you?" Tiana nervously chuckled. "Weird, second one to ask today. But sorry, no," the girl went to walk away, so I mouthed "flirt!" to Tiana. "Uh hold on!" Tiana called after the girl, who looked over her shoulder.

""You certainly have a gorgeous head, don't you?" She attempted, playing with her hair. "What?!" I mouthed.

"Oh uh," the girl wrinkled her brow, "thank you?"

While Tiana had her preoccupied, I slipped behind them, giving Tiana a reassuring smile.

As I turned the knob, again, I came upon a jammed handle. Dumbass, of course it would be locked. I took out my lock pick, quickly going to work. With a satisfying click, I cautiously tiptoed into the room. Choosing to ignore the strange things hanging and laying about, I went directly to a bookshelf filled with ancient looking books. I reached up, pulling Damnatorum down. "Nice," I congratulated myself, turning to leave before letting the black spine of a dusty book catch my eye. Nephilim: dimidium angeli.

Nephilim: half angel.

All I could here was my breathing and heartbeat, my hand reaching out towards the book. It's sleek cover was free of any dust, and as I flipped through, the pages felt crisp. It was small enough to fit in the back of my jeans, so I covered it with my coat.

"Not so fast," a voice said behind me, jolting me out of my trance. The raven haired girl stood in the door way, blocking my way. "Oh, sorry I jus-"

"Cut the shit, I figured out you're a hunter," she hissed. I tensed up, "Witch," I muttered, going for my gun. With a feeling of pressure in my chest, she threw me across the room with her magic. "Come on, Maggie," I focused on my powers, fighting against her force. Her eyes squinted, in confusion, and then panic as I threw her into a desk. Lifting her to a wall, I tightened my grip, choking her.

"Satanam in ignem sanctuarium, quod rid-"

"Not today," I hissed, pulling out the gun and shooting her point blank in the head. Witch killing bullets always do the trick.

The body dropped, a thud in the dead silence. Oh shit. Tiana.

My body sprinted out of the room, as I repeatedly shouted her name. With no answer, panic made my hands shake. "Damnit!" I shouted, racing outside. "Tiana!"

"Maggie!" She answered, coming from behind the building. "Geez! What took you so long!" She exclaimed, throwing her hands in the air. "We gotta go," I rushed, grabbing onto her arm. "Wait why-"

"Jesus! You're just as bad as Cas!" Dean exclaimed, as I popped back in the middle of the room. "Oh god," Tiana murmured, grabbing onto the bed. "I'm gonna be sick,"

"Did you get the book?" Cas asked, walking over. He extended his hand to my neck, "You're bleeding," he said, voice laced with worry. "What happened," Sam walked over, eyeing me for anymore injuries. "Ended up taking care of that witch," I sighed, "not my choice,"

Cas placed a hand over the wound, a warm glow healing it. "Cas- you didn't have to-"

"You better have that damn book!" Tiana exclaimed, coming out of the bathroom. With a nod, I pulled it out of my coat. Unlike the Nephilim book I stole, Damnatorum was worn and brown, ripped and scratched. Unlike the rest of the book, It's golden letters still shone.

"Here yah go," I coughed, handing it to Sam. "Picked up anything else interesting?" Dean asked, looking at the book Sam set in front of him.

"Nah, didn't have the time. Not with the witch scaring the shit outta me," I lied, giving a big sigh. "Well, its all alright. We got what we came for," Cas said, patting my shoulder.

Sam opened the book, "Then let's get to work,"
