[2] 4. I assure you we are not Hoodlums
"Here it is, just pull in and valet," I ordered, already going for my door. Dean looked back at me, "Valet? are you crazy?" He said exasperatedly. "Dean and I will park the car, you and Cas go inside," Sam said. Cas and I exited the car, just as we turned away, leapt back and tapped the window. Sam rolled it down warily. "its room 665," I said quickly, but Dean smirked to himself. "I thought you were going to say room 666," he chuckled. I gave him a blank face, then turned to Cas. "Lets go,"
I decided to explain as I walked. "When you meet Tiana, don't tell her anything about what you are, what I am, and what sam and Dean are," I explained, but saw his confused expression. "She doesnt know," i said softly, clicking the button for the elevator. "You keep this secret from your friend?" He asked, contemplating my information. "You get used to it," I sighed. we went up the elevator in silence when Castiel suddenly shouted. "Wait!"
"jesus, Cas, what is it?" I groaned. "is there a small cafe here?" He asked. "yeah...why?" I answered cautiously. "Is there pie?" He stated with a stony expression. I nodded my head, and like that, Cas was gone. "Cas? Cas!" I called, looking around the elevator. "Yes?" I heard behind me. "Wha-what the hell was that all about?" I said reverentially. "Dean loves pie so much, I thought it would help soothe your friend," He said looking between the pie and me. "Yeah, I guess Tiana likes pie," I said slowly, "That was actually thoughtful of you,"I crossed my arms. "Thank you, Castie- Cas,"
"Anything to help, Maggie," He said with a smile. I couldn't help but wonder why he was being so nice suddenly. A few hours ago, he hated me, attacked me. Why the sudden change? The elevator announced our arrival, and I raced down the hall. "Tiana!" I pounded on the door. "Tiana, its me Mahogany. Its Maggie!" I pounded on the door some more, not hearing her sweet british voice on the other side. frighteningly, I looked at Cas. "She's not answering," I huffed out. Cas handed me the pie.
"Hold the pie,"
He took a few steps back, bracing himself, then barreled through the door. It swung open to my apartment. Cream colored walls, dotted with my mothers art. Accents of turquoise furniture scattered the room, but no where in sight was Tiana Robertson. I placed the pie on a table, Cas following me. "Tiana?" I called again, and her small figure rushed out of the room. I hugged her tight, a breath releasing inside me. "Where have you been? whats going on?" Her english accent rolled off her tongue. Then she looked behind me, right at Cas.
A wide smile spread across her face, "You were with a guy! oh, well then. I've been telling you to get out and have fun. he's cute, did you get laid?" she rambled, my wide eyes hoping to shut her up. Castiel came up behind me. "If you are suggesting intercourse, that isn't what happened," he said. She realized her mistake, then looked at me warily. "What were you doing then?" She paused, "And why is the door broken?"
Before she could even finish her sentence, Sam and Dean burst through. "what the hell is going on!?" Tiana shouted. Sam and Dean looked between each other. "Hi..." Dean said awkwardly. "Please tell me you're not doing anything illegal again," Tiana groaned. "Again?" Sam said slowly, to which I harshly turned to face them. "Like you guys haven't done anything illegal. I saw your fake I.D's," I shot back. "Fake I.D's?" Tiana squeaked.
"Where's mom," I replied simply. "At home, worrying for you, while you hang out with these, these... Hoodlums!" She shouted angrily. "I assure you, we are not hoodlums," Cas said pleadingly. "That's what they always say on tv," she replied. Sam and Dean began introducing themselves, so I walked to the kitchen.
I rolled my eyes, grabbing my phone. My fingers dialed my moms phone number, almost like muscle memory. My lip hurt from me biting, anxious as I waited for her to pick up. "Mahogany Ellis where have you been?" I heard my mother rasp on the other line, on the verge of tears. Any usual 22 year old girl on her birthday, missing all night wouldn't bother anyone. Probably partying. But not for my family. Not since Luke left. "I need you to come to the apartment rigvht now," I said quickly.
"Why, Maggie? What's going on?" She pleaded. "We have company," I murmured. She sighed, "on my way, muchacha,"
I hung up, holding the phone to my chin. "Are you okay?" Cas said, startling me. "Um, yeah. My moms on her... Way," I muttered, not looking him in the eye. "I get the feeling you don't like angels," he depressingly said, "that you don't like me?"
"Castiel it's not that I don't like you, I ju-"
"Maggie!"
I ran to the source of the screech, to find a petrified Tiana staring at poor Dean. He was seated at the table, about to eat some pie; except he had placed his gun right on the tabletop. "He has a weapon," she said slowly. "Lord help me..." I murmured under my breath. "Yes he does. There's a lot I need to explain,"
She marched over to Dean, swiping the pie from in front of him. "Hey, hey! Not the pie!" Dean cried out, trying to reach it back. "No one is moving until I know what's going on!" She demanded. Suddenly, Castiel zapped right in front of her. "I am Castiel, an ange-"
In tianas instinct, she had slammed the pie straight into Cas's face. Whipped cream and all. "Oh my god," I laughed under my breath. The entire room fell silent. Tiana stood frozen in fear, strange noises coming from her throat. "I'm so... Sorry?" She whispered, glancing at me. "Hey look, it's angel food," I said loudly, trying to break the ice. I awkwardly glanced around, when suddenly dean started chuckling. Sam cracked a smile and joined in the laughter. Soon all four of us were rolling on the floor laughing. My insides hurt, but a good hurt. Something I hadn't felt in a while. Castile stood like a statue before a small innocent smile made its way on his pie covered face. I heard a few laughs come from him, so I walked over and got a glob of whipped cream on my finger. I licked it slowly, savor in the flavor. "Tastes heavenly," I chuckled, causing another roar of laughter.
Tiana, even though she probably didn't understand the references, was amused with the situation either way. Or playing along so she didn't get killed. Either works. Tiana skeptically looked at me, "okay, that aside. How'd he teleport?" She slyly tried to make into the conversation. "He's an angel of the lord," I said softly. Tiana raised her eyebrows, "no way..."
Just then, Castiel snapped his fingers, making the pie come off his face. "So it's all real," she murmured, hope in her eyes. "Yup, and so is that bad," Dean said, standing up. "Demons, vampires, werewolves, monsters and so much more, all real," Sam explained. "We kill them. It's our job as hunters," Dean announced. "And how do you fit into all this?" Tiana asked me sadly. "I'm a Nephilim," I finally confessed, feeling a great weight lift from my shoulders.
"It sounds scary," she whispered, looking at me with new eyes. "It's not... My moms human, but my dad was an angel. Michael to be exact," I laughed slightly. "You're half... Angel?" She said incredulously. I nodded, and she squinted her eyes. "But if you're half angel, and he's a full angel, where are the wings?"
"You're eyes can't perceive them," Castiel noted, but then curiously looked at me. "If you had been injecting human blood to take away your powers, how'd you know I was an angel?"
"Injecting human blood?" Tiana said in alarm, but I ignored her.
"Doesn't take them away, just subdued them. I only saw your halo," I said, when a striking pain pierced my skull. I groaned, stumbling into a table. "What's happening?" Dean shouted. "I missed a few doses, my powers are coming back slightly," I murmured through gritted teeth. A high pitched screech rang through my brain, making me scream out in pain.
"Mahogany!" I heard someone call.
Then I was on the floor, the noise and headache gone. Sam and Dean were gingerly lifting me up. "You good?" Dean asked me, and I nodded. And then my eyes settled on Castiel.
"Castiel your wings," I breathed. He cocked his head at me, "I'm sorry?"
"I see your wings. And they're beautiful,"
