Hello Loves,

I have come bearing news, and no it is not the new chapter, I am sorry about that but inspiration has been running low and I have started medication which also hasn't really helped me.

But the news are about the Vampire Academy show.

I heard these news from an account on Instagram called vampireacademynews and WE HAVE A CAST!!!! 

THIS IS NOT A DRILL WE HAVE A CAST!!!!!

I will be the first to say that for a show that does has Julie as a producer it is very diverse (so far) but I do have to warn you it is not quite what we hoped. This is also not the full cast at least not that we are are off

This was the news and the instas for anyone who wants to follow. 

Now I will post the screenshots of the posts they made for the actors and the characters and yes I will comment on them. 

Rose:

Not bad casting, I saw that she was in the mortal combat movie so that's interesting. The skin more accurate than the movie at least so that's a plus for me, even though Zoey does have a spot in my heart.

Lissa:

I've got to say I'm skeptical about this one, as we know Lissa is blonde with jade green eyes and while she can wear a blonde wig I don't really know, so we'll just have to wait and see.

Dimka:

Another one that got me extremely skeptical, I was hoping that they would try and get a native Russian actor at least, as the Russian accent can be a bit hard to master (and let's be honest no one will ever beat Danila Kozlovsky as a portrayal of Dimka, a few fancasts come close but come on) however, I will (try to) not judge until we see the show. The description is kind of scaring me but at the same it's giving me hope they will stick to the romitri romance.

Christian:

I can totally see this but Christian has Ice blue eyes in the books and Dominic Sherwood's portrayal of him in the movie has a spot for me as well...... but not too bad of a casting on him.

Victor:

Now this one got me as well, he's meant to be portrayed as a frail weak man in the first book (we don't know how they'll do it in the show), and this does not scream weak frail man that could easily be blown away by a strong gush of air. Also, his description tells us that he will not be like in the books which has me like WHAT THE ACTUAL F**K!!!! But he is gay and has two daughters so it's alphabet mafia representation........ still doesn't excuse it, and I'm in the alphabet mafia.

Tatiana Vogel (?):

I don't know how to feel, I like the mystery but the books are so amazing without new characters (and yes I know the irony in my words when this is literally a fanfic book, but still.) and her description gives me vibes of Queen Tatiana Ivashkov and Natasha Ozera, which is creepy but nice simultaneously, like why can't you just stick to the books??

Mia Karp (?):

I like that they kept Mia but I hate that they are going to make her a brunette with brown eyes, and that they changed her last name and gave her Karp's name like WHAT?? but anyways, see seems to have more less the same plot, only a female love interest, which is interesting. I wonder where Aaron is?

Meredith Blundell (?):

Don't have much to say about her, no true opinions on her other than let's see what she brings to the show.

Sonya Karp:

Interesting casting, loving that they kind of kept to the books with her passion for flowers, now where's her turning into a strigoi and compelling Rose to take Lissa away?? 

Mason:

When I tell you that I am BEYOND disappointed with this one, I mean it!! The one ginger in the whole movie and book saga (that is mentioned) is changed to a poc. Now don't get me wrong, I'm glad Julie finally understood the concept of diversity, but Mason?? Our sweet baby Mason who we lose in Frostbite? That's not fair, especially not after Cameron Monaghan did an actually good job with him.

My Opinion on everything so far:

I'm going to be honest, from everything that I've read so far, I'm scared for us and for the show, us because we might be heartbroken because it won't meet all of our expectations and the show because well it won't meet a lot of our expectations. 

A lot of people are rooting for Romitri to stay the same but don't care about everyone else, but it's everyone else that makes Romitri, Romitri, it's Natasha Ozera, it's Mason Ashford (ginger), its Adrian Ivashkov, it's Victor trying to use Lissa and them saving her and then his daughter Natalie, who hasn't been cast or mentioned at all so far, nearly killing Rose, it's Lissa and it's Christian. It's everyone. AND WHERE IS KIROVA!?

I will admit, I am extremely happy that Julie has learned from past mistakes (we hope), considering this cast is diverse but it still doesn't change the fact that some characters like Lissa, Mia and Mason have blonde and red hair respectively, and that Christian has blue eyes.

AND it doesn't change the fact that a lot of these characters are literally from Eastern Europe and Russia, which casting actors of colour unnecessarily is actually erasing that fact.

The shooting will be in Spain which is my next-door neighbour country, literally, I'm in the rectangle on the side of Spain, and I have a car so I feel tempted to try and sneak on set one day, and I have a friend who would do it with me if it means a road trip and going to Spain with me.

Now I don't know how they will plan everything considering you know the relationships and everything but so far I've heard nothing about Natalie and Aaron, both kinda important, nor Miss Kirova nor Alberta nor anyone that we know besides Roza, Lissa, Christian, Dimka, Mason, Victor and Sonya (although Sonya is giving me doubts).

The actors who are to play Roza and Dimka are already interacting on insta btw. If you wanna keep an eye out for that.

I went on the fandom wikia for Vampire Academy, because I like to binge read it every once in a while to refresh my brain with information to see if it gets inspiration to write, and everything that was there on Rose's pages that happened on the books in great detail in gone as is with Natalie, Lissa, Adrian, Christian and no doubt Dimka's page and others are to come to that too as people eagerly await the arrival of the show.

And I'll confess that I am actually extremely skeptical of this show, so I will either acknowledge the show if it keeps to the books, doesn't have to be word for word (although that would be the dream) but the majority of things, or I will completely ignore it's existence and not consider it canon like I do the movie. Much like everyone in the world did with the Cursed Child.

Now I am extremely sorry to have bothered you with this long-ass rant and opinion about the news, I hope you were as semi-happy as I was with the proximity of the show arriving (supposedly 2022) and Rose's casting at least (skeptical about Dimitri but hoping).
