Unlike every other night, in which dinner was filled with jovial conversation, the dinner that evening was only filled with small talk. Any attempts, from Jeremy, to ask about Lissa's background were thrown put the window when Lissa frowned at the question and gave small answers with no information.

In Jeremy's eyes, even the tight-lipped Kate gave him more information when she arrived.

Because of there being very little conversation during dinner, it went by extremely quickly, more so than when Jeremy had exams to study for and all but inhaled his food so that he could return to his studies, or when Kate was having a bad time and served small portions.

It wasn't that Lissa didn't see the looks that Kate shared with Jeremy when she dodged the questions in a terrible way, but it was simply that it was too hard for her to talk about how she lost everyone that she cared for so recently.

After dinner, Jeremy offered to do the dishes, which allowed Lissa to retreat into her new shared room while Kate tidied up the kitchen table. "Did she tell you anything about herself before I arrived?" Jeremy questioned gently as she washed the plates, it was no use using the dishwasher with so little silverware used.

"Not really, exchanged pleasantries, told her where the internet password and the first aid kits were, asked her which year in high school she was going to and if she had already enrolled." Kate told him, walking next to him to the cabinet that held the trashcan and throwing out the used napkins.

"Why do I feel like there is something that you aren't telling me." Jeremy pressed, raising a brow as he looked down at Kate.

Kate gave him her sweet smile, the kind of smile that was genuine but showed that she was indeed witholding information from him, which make Jeremy sigh and tell her "I won't push, just don't go closing yourself off as well now that you have a roommate."

Kate let out a laugh before patting Jeremy on the shoulder and giving a teasing smile before heading into her shared room.

Jeremy was right, as despite being used to change due to the broken foster system, once Kate had a routine, she did not deal well with new things and changes. And having a roommate was indeed a break from the norm that Kate had grown used to in the past 3 months.

Inside the bedroom was Lissa, sitting on her bed with a set of almost oversized pyjamas that hung strangely off her body, her hair was pulled up into a bun looking as if she had just thrown her hair up rather than neatly pulling her hair while brushing it up.

Despite knowing that she would be sharing a room with Kate, Lissa's jade eyes widdened when Kate walked into the room, almost as if she'd been caught doing something that she wasn't meant to.

Kate almost ignored her actions as she walked to her side of the wardrobe and pulled out a set of pyjamas to change into, but feeling Lissa's eyes on her she turned to her and told her, "You can go to bed first, I'm taking a shower before changing and heading to bed."

It would seem that Lissa relaxed with the knowledge that Kate would not be changing in front of her, especially when they met just that day. With a small nod from the pale blonde girl, Kate walked out of the bedroom and headed into the bathroom.

Lissa didn't necessarily feel tired enough to sleep right after dinner, but having been sweet talking everyone that she talked to, had taken a toll on her, more than enough for Lissa to feel the drowsiness wash over her well before dinner started to be prepared.

Despite not being particularly tired, Lissa got under the covers and pulled the covers over her head, to block the light that came from the ceiling and using it as a barrier between herself and the outside room.

Jeremy and Kate met each other in the hallway and bid each other goodnight, neither planning to go to sleep instantly. As Jeremy walked into his room to grab his computer to continue his studies, Kate entered her room and grabbed the book that she had been reading before turning off the ceiling light and grabbing the lamo that was specifically made for reading books.

With one last glance towards Lissa's covered figure, Kate grabbed the small bottle of perscribed medication and spilled the correct amount onto her hand, before throwing them into her mouth and drinking from her bedside table water bottle.

It was impossible to know when Kate fell asleep, the book that she had been reading had fallen onto the floor, thankfully closed. She looked almost peaceful as she slept unlike her roommate who was tossing and turning, mumbling her breath, whimpering in fear much like a frightened animal would.

Despite it being a near common occurence for Kate, her body tensed as she heard Lissa's not so silent cries. Out of reflex her fingers flexed from under the covers and her forest coloured eyes moved under the eyelids quickly, as if she was trying to make sense of something.

Without either girl being aware, a reddish aura began to envelop the room, enveloped them. And as both girl tossed, their arms fell from the edge of their respective beds, and despite the beds not being close tobether, it was as if they were reaching for the other's hand.

The glow that was eminated from Kate's hands seemed to jump from Kate and towards Lissa, in such a manner that as it touched Lissa's skin it forced almost a handcuff on Lissa's wrist, connecting itself to a similar looking handcuff on Kate's wrist.

As if magic really, Kate spasmed in bed momentarily while Lissa inhaled sharply, the unbearable need to open their eyes consumed them and when they did, they were not in the Oregon student apartment that they last saw before closing their eyes.
