INTERLUDE 2
I was interrupted by another flash of light. Upon the stage stood another bright beam, one larger and even brighter than the last, bearing the color red. It moved to stand just beside the previous one. It spoke, clearly worried and agitated.
"What the heck, man!?"
It exclaimed. I knew who this was as well, and more and more things began to make sense to me. At least, as much sense as I could garner from within this madness.
"Ahh you're here! Yay!! This is great, I was just listening to our audience member, and filling em' in on the-"
"-And you didn't bother telling us right away? Why??"
"...OH! I forgot."
The yellow one chuckled. The red one still seemed unamused.
"You're not gonna like it when they get here."
"They're sweethearts, I don't think I have anything to worry about."
"Oh yeah? When he gets here??"
"He...He who?"
"He Blue! He isn't gonna be happy you started this WHOLE thing without him!"
I watched their argument with great intrigue. A part of me wished to simply continue, yet also to watch their incessant bickering. Out of the blue, a spotlight, aptly colored blue, shone from behind the other two. The other lights shifted slightly in its presence.
"Found you."
"WAUGH- oh. Hi!'
"Hi..."
"Hold on fellas, this is too many people 'talking' at once. I can't tell us apart."
"Oh, that's better."
"Hey, you too!"
"This isn't grammatically correct or visually appealing."
"Grammar, shammer. Who cares?"
It complained. I saw no change in their demeanor, and did not comprehend the conversation well. Despite still having no form, I saw them all looking at me. I wasn't sure what to address them as, and simply settled for their colors as names.
"That's a bright idea, fella!"
Yellow said.
"More importantly..."
Blue trailed off, and the other two shifted away once more.
"Why didn't you guys tell me about it? I thought we would all start at the same
time."
The blue light trembled, as if shaking its head in disappointment.
"We were gonna, but this guy right here decided to do his own thing-"
Red shot right through the yellow spotlight, making them a somber orange.
"EY!! It wasn't me, I didn't think this one would get here so soon!"
Yellow gestured towards me.
The lights danced wildly around one another. I tried to keep my eye on each, but the mix of hues proved a massive headache. I was not even aware I could have such ailments.
As the colors argued, my eyes were drawn to a final, smaller spotlight. It hid behind the curtains at the farthest corner of the stage, watching on. I couldn't tell if it was frightened or uncertain, but what was clear is it was an observer. It wanted to speak. It had a clear intention.
The small brown light drew near, joining the group of four.
I opted simply to proceed with what was expected of me.
